Guest guest
Written to someone regarding the difference of the Ayanamsha 'tween the two systems of astrology. Hello I understand your quandry and have had to speak about it often, the difference of the ayanamsha, which this century is about 23 degrees. I would hate to rewrite all I've written on this, so I'm going to be kindof "bottom line-ish" about it here. Western Astrology aligned with Jyotish roughly 2000 years ago, which is when Western really got rolling. So they used to align in the good ol days. Western calculations are based on the Earth/Sun relationship, not the Zodiac. They use the names of the Zodiac, and the same implications as us, but their "signs" are not at all the stars, anymore. So this in my opinion is a totally faulty area of their astrology. But they do place most of the planets in the same houses usually, so they get this correct, usually, which gives them some accuracy. For example, in both my Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Moon are in the same houses, so they would say some correct things, as houses I feel are more important than signs by some margin. They also have the same transits, like when they say Saturn is on the Moon, we agree, but we simply don't agree on which sign and transiting Saturn are in, but the transit is the same, so this gives some correctness. Overall however, Jyotish is most correct since it's signs are also correct, whereas theirs are not. I believe therefore, that you are best off using only Jyotish, since it is most correct. There are other details to discuss, like the fact that we have dashas and they do not, and dashas are so effective, that's very clear. They work. So that's a major plus for Jyotish. Progress planets and transits cannot make up for this lack in Western Astrology. Then progressed planets are highly questionable to us, as they are not at all a part of Jyotish, which we feel is revelation rather than speculation. But whatever. Transits are effective in both, but we have the right signs for them. So overall, Jyotish is a better bet, but Western has some things right, hence they get some of their stuff correct. It has some validity. Jyotish has MORE validity. So I'd go with Jyotish, and use only it. That's my reccomendation for you. I am not being "put down" on them. I think I'm being impartial, and working from the simple science of the stars we name in our science, as well as pointing out that in general Jyotish is more right on. I think sober and detached persons can see and admit this. The charts work better, and the dashas are unmatched in accuracy of "when" things will happen over all other systems of timing events. I hope that clarifies it for you somewhat. That is the full gist of the matter actually. Didn't think I could hammer it out so fast, so I've surprised myself here. Thanks for the very valid question. I hope I helped.
