Guest guest Report post Posted June 29, 2000 Vox, many thanks for your thanks. Das, to me a moving zodiac is still a zodiac. I do not want to preach to the converted but yes i admit that vedic astrology is superior, we have many tools to follow, the parampara system is a living one and the Lahiri's ayanamsa is the best. But the tropical zodiac has something to offer. I do not have time to follow the tropical but i am sure that there is something positive in it. I also accept that there is a lot of time wasting in tropical astrology when studying the effects of the asteroids etc. Let me explain my point of view. South of Mexico City, there is a pyramid (Xochicalco), which has a system of tunnels underneath and there is at least a chamber that communicates to the outside with a hole about 20 inches in diameter and 3 yards deep. It happens that twice a year, the sun comes exactly above that hole and illuminates the chamber. Some people says that the Toltec-Mayas used that chamber for cosmic initiations many hundreds of years ago. Then we have that in Teotihuacan, (North-East of Mexico City), and in Chichen-Itza (south-east of Mexico), there are pyramides that twice a year grasp the path of the sunlight with a moving light and shadow like illusion. If in the future, we suffer from a nuclear war, economical break down or a natural cataclysm, and we do not have the modern facilities of computers, electricity, etc., we will need a calendar to find out the best times for planting and harvest. The alienation of some pyramids shows the solstices and equinox times related to Earth. With the sidereal sky, we can find the entry of the Sun in Aries, but this sky is not good to tell us when the sunlight is going to be positive for planting. The tropical sky points to the time when the sun comes into Aries, starting the season when it is best for the growth of nature. If the sunlight is important for planting and harvesting, then the tropical sky is good at calculating the path of the sun. Raman (if i remember well) said that the tropical sky was at one point attached to the sidereal calculations but somehow, the separation of both schools came and both followed a different direction. Yes, i am right, your speaking sometimes "kills" poor souls, you chop their heads off. I have to admit that sometimes i am like that (and sometimes worst) but it has to be a big thing. So, i suggest to be tolerant and show them what is good for them and it will be up-to them to decide. Also, you are right, i should say that i am a Spaniard converted (recycled) into Aztec. By the way, recent discoveries shows that the Aztecs used to travel north and eat Anazasi people. Not wonder that with our Aztec karma, we say in Mexico "Poor of us, so far from God and too near the Americans". Just kidding, i have many nice American friends. Regarding the outers, maybe we will find one day some vedic writings about them and you are right again, we may not be ready for that information or are meant to be a secret. It is a good question and one day when i get the opportunity, i will ask my teachers about it. We know that brahminical initiation and qualification is a must for the handling of vedic astrology. This means a great responsibility and we should not play with the stuff. But i cannot help it to remember that in the Krishna book, we read how Krishna met Varuna and Indra.
