Guest guest Report post Posted June 28, 2000 Dear List Pranams to everybody. I would like to give my comments about astrology. The Sun represents the jiva, the soul or the conditioned spirit soul. Life after life, we become conditioned by rules and regulations and from childhood we become brainwashed to think that i am this or i am that, i am the best or i am the worst. We learn good habits and bad habits, and these last ones are very difficult to break and are full of illusion, which does not allow us to see reality. Greed, anger, lust, etc., are the signs of conditioned souls. We can see from history how the French out of greed conquered Canada. The British did it in America. The Spaniards in most of Latinoamerica and the Portuguese in Brazil. I am more familiar with the Spaniards, They were in the beginning of their conquest a bunch of drifters without much respect for the natives, thinking they were the civilised ones and the Indians just animals to conquer. Well enough, we could say that the Mayas, Aztecs and Incas had tamasic religions, but they had as well a more advanced astronomical and astrological knowledge than in Europe at that time. All that valious knowledge went because the European people's greed almost destroyed everything in their path. Whatever was not "Christian", was destroyed. In medicine as well, the local natives had an amazing knowledge on the curative properties of plants. All that went as well. We have in the West, Western astrology (WA), which has shown some validity in the planetary language. WA has been struggling for hundreds of years to be admitted as a science but the many interest against it has been more powerful. We have seen very good works like those of the Gauquelins and others. For the past 50 years or so, Vedic astrology (VA) has been infiltrating the West and now we can see many practitioners around. I bought my first book on WA in 1970, in a country that had not much facilities to purchase ephemeris. We could say that it was my bad karma to have encounter WA in the first place, but i did not have the Vedic option at that time. At that time I had to consult the ephemeris from the reference library of the astronomy school. In 1973, i moved to France where i had the opportunity to study the books of famous French astrologers like Volguine, Barbault and others. It was until 1976 when i had the opportunity to encounter VA books and by then i had been in contact with Vedic philosophy for 6 years. From the first encounter with VA, i could see the importance of the science but i never thought that i wasted my time with WA, i just moved forward. I think that we should respect any science that is giving good to people. If we start to say that WA is not good and that VA is the only one, we will not be better than those fanatic conquerors. I have seen that illness in many institutions that claim that they are the only ones to have the TRUTH. I am always very suspicious of anybody claiming to be God or that they have the truth. Monopoly of the truth is an illusion, which we should eradicate. The truth can appear here or there, it is His property and His copyright. I think that in essence, we should cultivate tolerance, humility and co-operation. Instead of fighting against each other, we should learn to co-operate with each other. In this list we have astrologers from many countries, either advanced or beginners in the science. We should welcome everyone because we have the same motivation, which is to learn astrology. What is the point of being the best Vedic astrologer if we have not cultivated a nice nature? Our bad habits betray our sincerity. I am not talking about smoking or even meat eating as being bad habits, i am talking about our lack of control of our nasty nature. Lets be nice to everyone and tolerant with those that goes out of order. We are here to help each other, if we detect that someone is going off, we can call the attention to rectify. But i think that everybody is following the path, which is more close to their gunas (nature). From the Bhagavad-Gita, we read that even our religion is related to our dominant guna. If we change our guna, we will change everything around us. I have many friends western astrologers and some of them are very good in their studies. Just recently, British TV showed a programme on WA indicating that more than 50% of the population read the horoscopes in newspapers and magazines and the works of some astrologers are impressive. There is one Western astrologer that predicts the trends in economy with a better accuracy than the meteorologists predicting the weather. Now, the same astrologer is moving on to predict the weather and he is good. To me, any science should be encouraged if we see the benefits of it for humanity. I have seen students of VA that are not good at predictions and i have seen students of WA that are very good at it. What is important is the results. I too was against using Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in VA, until i met a teacher that told me how those planets influence humanity. It started to make sense to me. From the Vedas we learn that in this universe we have demigods in charge of many departments just like in government, we have powerful politicians. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are the residence of Lord Indra (the Chief of the demigods), Lord Varuna (Superintendent of the oceans) and Lord Yamaraj (Superintendent of death) respectively. Lord Yamaraj is also known as Dharmaraj (lord of virtues). In classic astrology, Pluto co-rules Scorpio with Mars. Scorpio is the 8th sign of the zodiac, which is related to death, the end of things, inheritances, sexuality , etc. The heart of Scorpio is the star Antares, and according to Vivian Robson in her book The Fixed Stars & Constellations in Astrology, Antares was one of the four Royal stars of Persia in 3 000 BC. (at the beginning of Kali Yuga), "when as the Watcher of the West it marked the Autumnal Equinox". Opposite to Antares, we have Aldebaran, called Rohini in Sanskrit and the star of Krishna. Pluto takes about 248 years in travelling around the zodiac and every time that it comes into Scorpio, indicates deep changes in humanity. The peak of those changes happen around the time of the conjunction of Pluto with Antares. In 1999, Pluto made a triple conjunction with Antares, indicating the drastic changes to come for humanity in the next few years. As lord Dharmaraj, Pluto is going to bring drastic and positive changes in the Legal system, religion and sociological trends (duties). As lord Yamaraj, Pluto is making many changes in the consciousness of people. If we look back in history, everytime that Pluto is with Antares, deep changes follow in humanity. In 1503, Pluto was with Antares and Lord Chaitanya was in India getting ready to spread Love of Godhead. The Precession of the Equinox takes about 2160 years to cross a sign of the zodiac, which is the time taken by Pluto to make 8 conjunctions with Antares in the 8th sign. Regarding Uranus and Neptune, both are now in sidereal Capricorn, the 10th sign of the zodiac, indicating administration, vocation, profession, karma , etc. Little by little a transformation is happening in the administration level. People in many countries are demanding from their administration, a fair deal and less corruption. By working as a team, Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn and Pluto in Scorpio are going to bring huge transformations in human society. We know that the slower a planet, the deeper the results but in a long term. Best wishes Natabara das

Guest guest Report post Posted June 28, 2000 Natabara and others, Again, those are all nice points, but you still can't deny that a moving zodiac, is no zodiac. That's ALL I was saying. Somehow I get the mood from you that you are comparing my speaking to the mood of the Spaniards wasting the Aztecs. Contrary. Using that analogy, you would have to say instead: I'm a Spaniard who's converted to Aztec, and I'm using everything from both cultures to wake up the Spaniards to what gross misbehavior they're engaged in. And if the outers have to do with society transformations in consciousness, politics, etc., then perhaps that's why the Sages ignored them. I can see why that would make sense. There's many things that could be said here. But if they left them out of their public books, I follow in kind. They are meant to be secret, or ignored. Thanks, Das Goravani
