Hi List:

Could someone please look at my chart and tell me what

is going on, for how long it will continue, and when and

if things will get better? Things are extremely intense

and have been for the last 2 1/2 years at least.

The only thing going great is my education in computers,

(not programming) I have returned to school after 30 years. The past 2 1/2

years have included my father's death, business closure and

bankruptcy, daughter's marriage, separation from children,

mother's illness etc.etc.

The saving grace in my life is a living Guru, which is the

only reason I still have my sanity and am still living. I am

a religious person, but even for me things are extremely

tough right now.....

My Birth Information is:

4/28/1949

3:30 pm

Delhi, India

Marriage: August 16, 1968

I live in the Catskills Region in New York, USA.

I know that my mahadasha is Rahu, and sub is Ketu, also

Saturn is in the picture.

Finance situation is extremely poor and nothing seems to be opening up.

I have to find a way soon to become self sufficient and support myself. I filed

for divorce 2 1/2 years ago, case is still in litigation. Relationships

with everyone close, my children, mother, brothers are rough!!!

I feel really stuck and scared, even though I do have a Guru and

believe in God and pray regularly. On one level I do realize that everything

is in God's hands, but maybe doing something would make it easier to bear?

Maybe looking at the chart would give me a better understanding of the

why's?

Sorry, this is all so personal, but I thought besides getting some help it

would make a good study chart. Any hope for me? Or None? Any suggestions?

Thanks to all in advance for the patience and support in reading this lengthy

email. Please let me know if you need any other information.

Regards,

Manju

Dear Madam:

1. I am new to this list and to astrology. This is my first mail to this

list. I can only suggest now from what little I know. Assuming that the

birth information given is correct, I hereby make an attempt to identify the

problems in your chart.

2. They are as follows:

2.1 Weakness in some form or the other of all the planets.

2.2 Close affliction of malefic Rahu/Ketu axis to the most effective points

of the 2nd, 4th, 8th, 10th and 12th houses.

2.2 Close affliction by the most malefic planet, Mars (lord of the 8th

house), to the most effective point of the 11th, 2nd and 3rd houses.

2.3 Afflictions from the Sun, lord of the 12th house to the Moon and Venus.

3. The extreme infancy of Mercury, the lord of the ascendant, the weakness

of Saturn, lord of the 6th house and the weakness and affliction to the Moon

and its moolatrikona sign make it difficult for you to adjust with others.

4. As Rahu is in the 8th house and afflicts many moolatrikona signs, it is

expected that its periods are coloured with danger, humiliations and

obstructions. The natal weakness or afflictions of the sub-period lords

have heightened the troubles.

5. My only suggestion is that you please follow astral remedies as

indicated by your chosen guru.

Best wishes,

Satya Gopal

Dear Manju,

This is the last phase of the evil of Rahu and will end with Ketu

sub-period. Besides Saturn's transit should give you a lot of relief. You

need to propitiate Durga with the Mantra "OM SHRIM HRIM KLEEM AIM

VAJRAVAIROCHANEEYE HUM PHUT SWAHA"

Best Wishes

Does that mantra work for everyone? I'll be running RAHU Dasa in the 8th for

the next 15 years. I was recommended to wear a Gomedha gemstone but decided

against it. I have been watching the RAHU transits on my chart. As of now

it's in the 3rd house and I'm overwhelmed with the interesting items coming

through in the mail. Not all that bad either!

Hello Manju,

Firstly thanks for the honesty. I find it inspiring.

I can very much personally relate to the things you've been through. I

too have suffered in these kinds of ways over the last 8 years.

Sometimes in some lives the losses come all at once and it's pretty

intense. One can build a life over time with great effort, only to lose

it all. Marriage, business, self-esteem, children, all these things are

subject to being lost and it happens to many people in a big way all at

once. Others it's spread out, but everybody has to lose everything

ultimately, in some sort of painful order of events.

I built up a life with wife, children, business, real estate, etc., and

at one point it lost it's charm and began to fall apart in '92, sold my

business, paid heavy taxes, sold the houses I had bought, became

depressed, couldn't work, declared bankruptcy, then tried to divorce, my

spouse dodged that for two years, I was alone with the kids without

help, became very poor, started this business, struggled like crazy,

lost all my friends in various twists of circumstances, moved a bunch of

times, and so on. And it continues...to this day, in various forms. Life

has been very hard, but one good thing is that all the energy I poured

into this business, the software mainly, has at least created a steady

work and income for me.

But other than that...forget it...my daughter is very mature and nice to

me, thank God, but her struggle with her body weight wears me and her

out. My son can't relate to me. I'm housing and raising a stranger. Very

hard. Lonliness, hard. Constant hard word. Hard. Spiritual values

preacing at me in my head, hard. All hard hard hard. Then my son gets in

crash, more hard work and junk to deal with. The sometimes the tax

people decide they want to have an intimite relationship with you, and

you just can't say no. More hard. Car trouble, body trouble, nothing

stays good.

I have had to go to extreme mental areas in order to handle that I've

been so unhappy. Extreme unhappiness either kills you, or forces you to

buckle down and make hard progress out of the unhappy zone. I struggle

between these two..depression and pushing forward.

I think the transits pileup in Aries was actually very hard on nearly

all of us in some different ways. It's been a long slow conjunction of

Jupiter and Saturn and it continues for some more time before Jupiter

finally gets away from Saturn. Maybe in Taurus they'll file nicer to all

of us, but I'm not sure.

I do want to say only that many of us are in total pain for various

reasons. In that state, we're challenged. I feel very challenged. I am

pushing forward as best I can, and often I'm really pushing, because

that builds muscle, which helps you to overcome eventually.

I think most of us in our middle life period sink into habits like

drinking coffee, tea, drugs, smoking, over-eating, or eating some

habitual garbage like chocolate or fattening sweet rolls, or

something... Then gradually, over the years, these things we're

wearing around our wastes, or all over our bodies as polluted fat,

weakened muscles, and the will to fight or be fit has decreased

tremendously to the point of accepting that we're fat, unfit, a mental

case, or something in some way other than the healthy beings we were

when we were younger.

Personally lately I've been so afraid about various parts of my life,

that I've been not only scared, but also angry, depressed, and literally

freaked out at times emotionally, internally. It affects everything.

Your life can fall apart from emotions. I fight my fear of not having a

spouse moment to moment. That's my attachment. The lonliness of my life,

though good in many ways, scares the heck out of me.

These strong fears and worries have got me out jogging more. like 4 to 6

miles a day, sometimes twice a day. I also simply stopped drinking

coffee for a few days, and that made a difference. Lots of excercise and

no coffee feels better than lots of coffee and no excercise, by far.

So these kinds of switches can rebuild self esteem and hope. I think

that physical fitness is the first step to fighting the blues. The anger

that can arise for some at these times is well channelled into jogging,

pumping weights, swimming like crazy, etc. If one is a fire case like

me, this is a must I think. Fire people must feel fit and able,

otherwise they hate themselves. This is projection to some degree, but

each person can take what they like. Some of this is for Fire rising or

Moon people only perhaps.

Anyway...I think that as we realize that Maya, or the Matrix, or the

Material Energy, or God, is taking everything away from us, the way we

react is what's key and pivotal for us. That seems to be what the Gita

is all about. Do, but don't be attached. Work hard, but not for the

result, do it rather for the perfection of detachment from matter, and

attachment to higher principle, and the Divine.

Turn arounds in life are possible, from the bad to the good, and from

good to bad. When things are bad, we can turn them good through attitude

and hard work. However, there are times in life late in life, when it's

hard to save anything, one's health, ultimately one's connection with

the physical body, and thus all things are lost.

But I'm talking about up until the last years of our life. I'm talking

about that gray zone from mid thirties up to those last years, or the

midlife crisis starting point, and the rest of the years. There's alot

of years where most people simply decay slowly, and many in less than

great mental spaces. They drag on, but not very happily or positively.

It is a battle to add to oneself. The third house, of courage, is a

difficult thing. It's hard to put out that energy towards future

goodness. Austerity is for building strength. It's hard to endure

fasting from one's built up habits and intakes, be they food or

whatever. Hunger, thirst, excercise, pushing, controlling the senses,

all these things build strength but we most all avoid them and become

weak. Then the modes control things more and more, and selfish patterns

are noticed between family members, and contempt grows, codependencies

are fortified, and life becomes a drag. I personally kindof need more

clear paths of fire, with some pushing, some struggling, kindof accepted

by one and all, then I'm more relaxed, knowing that everyone around me

is trying and pushing too, to keep things up, and happening, alive, and well.

Often when we approach Gurus, our interests, beliefs, sensitivities, and

so on, more things, much of us, changes, and becomes of a different

mood. Generally everyone accepts and agrees upon a certain mode of

thinking and acting, and the Vedic mood is opposed to this other way

somewhat, not completely, but somewhat. There is more of an

encouragement for humility, surrender, service, and detachment. Not

weakness of any type, but these are actually difficult strengths.

So anyway, it doesn't mix well with most people in the West, who are

seeing life another way, kindof as a shopping market rather than a

training ground or school. So they don't "like" or "buy" the mood of the

truly Spiritual often. This can lead to alienation and increased

separation from actually being close to family members. So that's

another thing...if you try to "do the right thing" and approach

Spiritual Life, you may find the difficulties increase, not decrease.

One is more able to be mundane and satisfy more mundane people if one

does not mess around with Vedic knowledge. The more mundane people you

serve and satisfy, the less lonely and challenged you'll be. So there's

a high price to wanting to hang with Gurus, if they're of the Spiritual type.

Anyway, singularly we can shine, and I think we're pushed to that as we

go forward in life, as kids leave, as relationships wear out, as our

bodies wear down, and so on. We find out what we're made of. I think

many people unknowingly just cruise through life without developing any

muscles or character strengths of their own...rather...the day to day

shopping and hustle of family life keeps them just barely alive. But

when that goes, so does their conception of life, and hence, great

disturbance comes to their mindscape.

I think Jyotish comes to prove the folly of the material vision, and

once one realizes that they cannot escape what they can see as the

results of their own pasts or as the will of God, then they can start to

focus more on how they take it alone, which will increase their light,

their life, their health, and so on. You are not responsible directly

in this life for anything. Neither can you create a better future than

what is intended. We just think we can. But that's where the attachment

grows from, that illusion and the false hopes it creates.

To see when it will be over, just look to the end of the grip of

malefics on transiting key houses, and for benefic bhuktis with the Rahu

dasha. Jupiter is easier than Rahu usually. Bhuktis of benefics and well

placed planets is signal for the arrival of more pleasant affairs, which

are conducive for growing more weak. Use the hard times for becoming

strong and building. It's a good way to keep the mind engaged, and for

staying more fit. If one is totalled, in bad shape, after a bad period,

then there's no chance of good periods ever again anyway.

When the going is tough, those with better futures will be found

building them. Those with no better futures will be lamenting, and

growing more attached, more frustrated, more sick, more dependent in

Will and Spirit, and less shine will be had from them, so they will not

appear desirable, and will eventually be shunned more and more. Oregon

is full of these totally fat, miserable looking, pale people who

obviously have no money, no happiness, no nothing. They're like just

"taker blobs". There's no way one can be happy when their WILL and

SPIRIT are that much under the grip of sadness, despair, helplessness,

and so on.

Well, I think that's enough for me for now. I know this is most

projection and preaching to myself. So for those more attained already,

thanks for tolerating me. For those who got something out of this,

you're welcome.

Hey Manju, thanks. Keep up your will and spirit. Changes. That's all.

You can handle it. Progress means "Elimination and a new acceptance" my

Guru used to say. It's hard. The eliminating feels like dieing. I

understand. MANY of us do. In attendence are people with the entire

range of challenges from few to deathly disease, totally depressing

financial situations, totally frustrating marriages, totally frustrating

lonliness, ugliness, stupidity, over-active brains, under active bodies,

you name it, it's all here.

I don't know anybody who is living here on Earth NOT struggling with

something, and usually it's a handful of junk they'd rather not deal

with. Half the humans I know are inches from freaking out over something

in life.

The glory is in growing our will and spirit, to live, to do right, to

give, to embrace all of life's processes and changes, and to get the

Strawberry on Top, which is to be good at this exact process of

overcoming mental obstacles with detachment, service, surrender, to the

Divine Beautiful Center. Om.

Youth is in a flurry of enjoyment of the freebee of youth itself, which

is health, optimism, etc. They run TONS of the media and the media uses

them in most places of advertising. Young, beautiful woman. That's like

1 percent of the population at best. We have to turn from all these lies

and build a much more aware life for ourselves. Do it with conviction.

The modern world's standard vibration on TV especially, and in most

public places in the West, is pure BS.

To the new better life of higher thoughts and virtues, and more action

and clarity. More reality. Onward.

Peace (in full action) to all,

Das Goravani

Dear Manju,

What Sanjay told is the best remedy, you can do so far. Unfortunately we all

have to wear out our karma. As Das told you, he had a terrible period, yet with

a sane

mind and Krishna's mercy he got through it . I am at the moment watching the

bridge construction from my window terrace. When I remember , just a year

ago the bombs were falling down my window.IT was like the horror dream

then, and it has passed. My elder sister was 2 months in psyhiatric

hospital treated from the shock of these bombs. My cousin has become

displaced, since her flat was ruined in the Aleksinac bombardment of the town

centre..I lost my father a year and a half. So I was under the influence of

2years of rahu antara that has almost destroyed my life.At the moment I am safe

and sound, and happy again. Everything passes, bad time passes and good time

passes. Keep up, have Faith! That is the only thing that truly counts!

Dear Zoran:

Thanks so much. You are right and I know it too, that everything

is in God's hands and everything does pass. It is rather rough

right now, but I do have my Guru's Grace and know in the end

I will be OK. I must have heavy duty karma to burn off.

My practices like chanting, seva and meditation are my saving

grace, and I am so grateful for that. But in this world and in this

body we sometimes have to go thru a lot in a short time and

it gets scary. I got a little discouraged and felt defeated by

everything. I will be fine, just wanted to check the astrological

situation.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Wish you well for everything.

Thanks again for all your support.

Lots of Love,

Manju

Das

thank you for the insipiring words. this is not the first time that i have

found some sort of solace in your transactions here. i hear the

difficulties that other people have and scoff at my own pain, at the ease

that i see in my own life and feel shame for my "weaknesses". more drama,

more karma, i know....but it gets difficult to feel sorry for yourself when

you hear of the trauma of others. perhaps that is the cosmic reason for the

work i do.

anyway, your comments on the mass conjunction not long ago reminded me

that i was wondering just today of the recent planetary allignment and

how it has affected the masses.....i havent read of any discussion of it

here and wondered if anyone had any thoughts. it does seem that, in

general, there has been more difficulty and pain, not only for my self but

for others around me.

thanks in advance for the commentary.

Dear Manju

This can be done at SJVC but we need you for the Sankalpa at least. We have

a very good Pundit who is engrossed in the seva of Sri Jagannath (The Idols

of Mahaprabhu, Subhadra and Balaram are installed there) and is adept at all

Pooja's.

Best Wishes

Sanjay

P.S. Do the Japa Yourself atleast for now

Dear Jyotisha,

It will work for anyone. When a baby cries for the Mother, she cannot stand

and watch..be sure that help will always come. Stay away from that Gomedh.

The very fact that you like Astrology should show the extent to which Gomedh

will not suit you.

Best Wishes

Sanjay

Dear Sanjay:

Thanks for all your help. I have started the japa, and by instinct did

not feel comfortable wearing any of the gems recommended, specially

Gomed so I took them all off. I have not been wearing any gems fro the last

few months.

I know that generally sankalapa is done in the physical form usually.

If however, I can do it from here I will. Please let me know.

Thanks again,

Best Regards,

Manju
