Hi Tarun,

The study of omens is referred to as "nimitta" in jyotish. I was told that

Hart DeFouw and Jim Kelleher are each writing a book on the topic. I have

heard Jim Kelleher lecture on the topic--very interesting--and he

incorporates nimitta into his practice of jyotish. I very much believe in

the use of omens. Of course I come by that naturally with my Irish

background. I find that being aware of signs on a subtle level is a way of

keeping one's consciousness a bit more subtle too--in more of an alpha

brain wave state.

Sincerely,

Colleen Patterson

This is also a major thrust in many Native American traditions.
