Hi All

 

1)I m in Chennai , apart from Kanchi ,plz enlighen me abot divyadesms in around in chennai, can we cover all the divyadesams(In & Around Chennai) in weekends ??

 

2)Is there any book in english which gives the Stahalapuranam of all the 108 divyadesams, its location(Place , District etc..) and how to reach it (eg by Bus or train.. etc..)

I don't remember if there is any book published in English for the

Divya Desam Sthalapuranam, but there is one book on Divya Desam

Sthalapuranam published in Tamil by M/s LIFCO, T.Nagar, Chennai.

Yes, there is a book published by LIFCO which is available

at Ranganathan Street, T, Nagar, Madras 600 017.

This contains a brief description about each divyadesams and

how you can reach each of these.

Around Chennai, you can cover Tiruvallore, Tirumazhizai,

Mahabalipuram (Kadanmallai); Tiruvallikkeni, Tirunirmalai, etc.

The Divya desam around Chennai can be covered in the weekend. Start in the morning with Triplicane andthen proceed to Mahabalipuram and Thrividanthaiand one can be back before 12 clock. Start in the afternoon to Sriperumpudur and after 4 pm you can have darshan and then proceed to Tirvallur, then Thinnanur .

U can visit

Triplicane - Parthasarathy Temple,

Tiruvidanthai (ECR Road after Kovalam)-Nithya Kalyana Perumal,

Mahabalipuram-Temple next to Busstand,

Near Pallavaram -Tiruneermalai - Ranganatha Perumal.

For above places Buses are very covinient.U can visit Divyadesam website where details about temples are mentioned. Hope this information will help u.

In addition to what Mr. Rajaraman communicated, Thiruneermalai, near Pallavaram also can be added in the list. Further, though not a Dvya Desam, Thirumazhisai, the birth place of Thirumazhisai Azhwar, near Poonamalle, on the way to Tiruvallur, is also to be visited and Lord Jagannathan to be worshipped.

Dear Mr. Sailesh,

In Chennai and around the following temples are available to be cover>

1. Triplicane, Parthasarathy Temple.-This temple situated near triplicane beach and lot of buses availble. 10 km away from Central station or bus terminus.

2.Thiruneer Malai- u have to get down Pallavaran between Chennai and Tembaram station. From Palaravarm 6km away.

3.from Chennai to Arakonam-u can cover 3 temple

3. Thinnanur-From Central station u can get local train, just 28 km away.

4. Thirvallur-After complete dharsan in Thinnanur, u can catch train to thiruvallur from Thinnanur station.

5. solingar-Tirukadighai. U can get either train or bus from Thiruvallur to Solingar.

6.From Chennai to Mahabalipuram

6.Tiruvidanthai: 43 km from Chennai-1.u have to go chennai to kovalam by local bus and from kovalam to temple only 3 k.m .u will get share type van. They charge Rs.5/- or max. Rs.10/- per head to reach the temple.

7.Thirukadal malai: From Tiruvidantahi only 15 km away. u will get bus from Kovalam. This temple situated back side of bus stand.

Dear Devotee,

Thirukadal malai is situated at Mahabalipuram, from Chennai around 60 km . U will get direct bus to Pondicherry from Chennai via ECS and same was halt at Mahabalipuram. All the Pondicherry route bus will also halt at Kovalam. Therefore after your darshan at Thiruvidanthai u have come back to Kovalam . From Kovalam you will get bus to reach mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram bus stand is situated at the enterence of the Tirukadal malai temple.
