this Atmayoga is the only such program in ISKCON afaik (as far as I

know). Imho it follows the instruction of Srila Prabhupada to find

innovative ways to promote KC:

 

"We should always be eager to find out such nice ways to spread this

Movement. This will automatically bring joy to the devotees as well as

to the nondevotees." (letter to Jagadisa - Bombay, 17 November, 1970)

 

"Sankirtana means preaching, so for some time try in other ways to

spread our Krishna philosophy anywhere and everywhere, by selling

books, as many as possible, by holding kirtana and classes in schools

and college—wherever there is preaching, that is Sankirtana. You have

an American brain, now use it to think of new ways to preach in

Japan." (letter to Sudama - Delhi, 20 November, 1971)

 

It is a competition to a crowd of impersonalist New Age yoga schools

which almost monopolized current huge and growing yoga market. (Some

of them even wanted to trademark some asanas which created an obvious

stir in India.) Moreover, some Christians adopted and adjusted yoga in

their way.

 

It is not meant for devotees to replace their sadhana but mainly for

new persons like university students.

 

"Three men should go to each center, or two, and do not make an

easy-going life. Try all ways to spread Krsna consciousness. They

don’t have to be attached to the results but should endeavor

exhaustively. Cook and distribute prasadam, make a nice apartment to

welcome guests. Go out and preach and chant and do door to door and

whatever. Try to penetrate the university to have a club there, etc."
