Seeking your valued assistance:

I wanted to obtain a Shiva Linga for some time to worship. I just

read a most remarkable detailed article about the most sacred Bana

Shiva Lingas from the Narmada river.

http://www.salagram.net/sstp-Bana-lingas.html

Does anyone know where to obtain such a genuine Bana linga? I saw

that Rudra Centre are selling them, but not sure if these are 100%

bonafide, as there seems to be scriptural descriptions about

specific color and patterns etc?

Here where I live there are socalled Narmada Shiva lingas for sale

in esoteric book shops, they say they get them from travelling

traders who bring them from India, some say they are from Ganges and

are artifically polished, so is very difficult to know.

Most grateful for any further insights/help with this,

Namaste Ole,

I have one of these, hen's egg size, that I pulled out of the Narmada myself when I was at Omkareshwar, the primary and traditional source of all Narmadeshwar Lingams. The ones you see sold everywhere are Narmadeswhar Lingams that are made from rock deposits in and around the river. They are polished into the lingam shape and this has been going on for thousands of years there.

There are not many Bana Lingams in the water there, so who knows what RC is selling.

You could try to contact an ashram there in Omkareshwar and see if someone can find one for you. This is what I would recommend if you can't go there yourself.

Bam Bam Bhole!

Hi Surya,

Thanks for the quick replies. Ok, so now I understand a little

better the difference between Bana and Narmadeshwar Lingams. Are the

Narmadeshwar lingams the same as the "Raudra lingams" mentioned in

the article? I had some unusual experiences with the possible

Narmadeshwar lingas I bought in the book shop, felt a strong sense

of groundedness, empoverment and feeling more energetically in

contact with my surroundings.

If possible, I would like to obtain a Bana lingam, are there any

reputed ashrams in Omkareshwar of your acquaintance that I can

contact via email?

Many thanks,

Ole

There are many ashrams in the area. I didn't visit any. Only the temple. I was invited in by the head Mahant there, who was very sweet and spoke English. He was quite old and was a disciple of Swami Muktananda.

I believe there is an Anandamoyimaa ashram.

The Narmadeshwar Lingams are comprised of a very rare cryptocrystalline quartz, which is why you experienced what you did. I take some of my smaller ones and set them upon the center of a halfed Salagram Sila as their "yoni". I find the combination extremely powerful.

The Narmadeshwar Lingams are not the same as the raudra lingams mentioned in the article, as far as I can tell. But maybe some qualify.

Everlasting Peace,

There is much information on the web on the Narmada Shiva Lingam it's myths and legend. But hard to find research on the powers of it. We at Powerful Healing Tools are happy to say that we are a witness of this divine energy.

Recently, at the Yoga and Raw Food Expo June 11th, 2010 at the Hotel New Yorker in New York City we set up for our first introduction to the USA public with Narmada Shiva Lingams, Rudrakshas, Shri Yantras and Organic Yoga Clothing. This crowd was very diverse as you would expect from New York City. However the reponse was amazing.

On several occassions seeing people hold and cradle the Narmada Shiva lingam(we had some 11inch Lingams).

One lady actually cried when she parted from one! She could not afford it and said she would purchase later. We had an energy healer test the small shiva lingams with his wand and he notice something ... so he kept testing with his insturments then he placed the shiva lingam on the floor between his feet stretched his spine, he was about 6'4", and fell over. I first thought he was playing :-) It appears that he was not and went on to do more research from and energy perspective.

We are happy to be the caretakers of these power tools!

We say believe what you experience. Your religion, your belief system does not matter. Much healing is there for everyone!
