Campor is also placed on the wick for a speical festival lamp to go with the offering of aroti.One wick is then used. In Orissa it is mainly mustard oil, but in South India it is gingelly oil (sesame seed oil). Some places also use Ghee, but ghee hardens and becomes solid with the cold weather, so it isn't a very practical oil to use in most places. The wicks also vary somewhat, but in general you can roll the cotton in a fat string, most of it submerged in the oil, with the tip coming upwards outside the oil. The flame should be made to look like a tiny brilliant pearl with no movement (flickering). That is done by adjusting how much of the tip is in outside of the oil.
