Guest guest
Hello, I have been recently gifted a rudraksha bead which is still in its seed. How do I remove the seed coating and get the bead ? Do I soak it in water ? I tried "peeling" the seed cover like peeling the skin of an apple ? Please advise, as the skin is too hard and I don't want to break the rudraksha. I have just managed to open a tiny bit from top, and i can see one mukh of the rudraksha quite clearly. Regards, Amit
Guest guest
Dear Amit Ji Namaskar and thanks for message.........if you mean you have been given a bead that still has the dried purple fruit pulp on the bead then place bead in clear glass of water and run water from tap until hot..........fill glass almost full and wait about 3 days.........the pulp will soak up the water.....then you can take a plastic tooth brush and safely remove the pulp by brushing the bead............another faster method is to boil water and remove pan from stove.........place bead in water and wait about 5 hours and then you can start to peel the re hydrated fruit covering off the bead and then also brush with the tooth brush.....continue soaking in water until you have been able to clean bead completely and then dry bead for about a day on a clean towel........after a days drying the oil first time with mustard oil by dropping bead in clear glass that has about 3 inches of oil in glass......leave bead in glass overnight and in morning place on paper towels to leach off the oil and then you can place in clean cloth towel for a day to leach off remaining oils hope this helps Dhanyavaad cha Pranams Mitra In a message dated 8/17/2005 6:35:17 PM Pacific Standard Time, amit711 writes: > > > Hello, > I have been recently gifted a rudraksha bead which is still in its > seed. > > How do I remove the seed coating and get the bead ? Guest guest
Dear Amit Ji you probably have an oblong Indian 3 Mukhi Rudraksha....good way to compare would be to look at the pictures of the beads on our Rudra Center website at www.rudraksha-ratna.com and see what you think.....at this point an email picture would be needed to get closer to identification Thanks and Take Care DD In a message dated 8/23/2005 12:24:20 PM Pacific Standard Time, amit711 writes: > Subj: Re: RBSC : Rudraksha bead in the seed > 8/23/2005 12:24:20 PM Pacific Standard Time > amit711 > Reply-to: > > Sent from the Internet > > > > Namaste ! > I was finally able to extract the rudraksha bead from the seed. Guest guest
Namaste ! I was finally able to extract the rudraksha bead from the seed. I have however made some observations and would like to share my thoughts... perhaps get them validated by your experience... 1. The rudraksha seems to be a 3-mukhi. I can see the 3 facets clearly, however when I see it from the top, 5 facets seem to be visible. 2 facets seem to get lost as I run from top to bottom... is this an authentic rudraksha ? 2. The bead is oval in shape... 3. There is no naturally occuring hole in the rudraksha (i.e. the hole from where one would normally insert the thread to string the bead.... again, is this common for naturally occuring beads ? >From what I see on the websites, and from what I hold in my hand, I'm beginning to wonder if the bead I was presented is genuine or not. Can you pls advise ? Many thanks & regards.
