Aum Namah Shivaya: I am pleased to have been invited to join this

group and am sure I shall enjoy getting to know other Saivites.

Why Shiva for me? I love him because to me he is the wild man of the

mountains who roams freely and naked. He is free of the constraints

of sciety. He can be judgmental and hard, quick to anger and destroy

what is wrong and bad, and yet he is at the same time loving and

gentle. Truly a God of unsurpassed love, compassion and

forgiveness.

Details of me can be found on my website www.yoga-sadhana.org where I

describe my meeting with my guruji and the giving of my name. Guruji

in Rishikesh gave me the name of Shiv because `In England you went to

the temple and honoured Lord Shiva, now you are in the Himalaya - the

home of Shiva. It is Monday the day of Shiva, and you are strong like

Shiva!! You shall be called Shiv, a son of Shiva`. So for me

every morning begins with my puja in my yoga kutir when I honour

Guruji, Ganesh, Murugan, Hanuman and Parvati, and finally Nandi and

Lord Shiva.

I shall be happy to correspond with fellowpilgrims.

Aum Namah Shivaya

Hello Derek,

Welcome to his group. I took a moment to look at your website. You

are student of yoga. I have been very interested in this, but for

now, my effortsd are purely based on readings from books.

For how long have you bin into this? Are you living in an ashram?

Sincerely,

Bhupendra

Good to hear from you. My yatra began at birth! My more conscious introduction

to yoga began when I was 11 or 12 years old when I read `A Search in Secret

India` by Paul Brunton. That was about 1952/3. I have always, from early

childhood, been drawn to the spiritual as well as the physical aspects of yoga

- truly for me a way of life.

I do not live in an ashram, but with my wife in a very quiet and wooded area of

England. It is the idal situation for a vanaprasta. Living in England I am

not able to fulfill all my gurus` directions directly - I do wear clothes!!!

but being naked is again a spiritual aspect of myyoga when I am practising. In

my teaching I emphasise the spiritual side of yoga and hold regular satsang

here.

Yours in yoga

Hello Derek,

Nice to see your reply.

For how long did you stay with your guruji and what type of yoga

have you learnt? Are you familiar with Kundalini Yoga? Are you able

to achive pefect concentration(dhyan) during meditation? Man I have

so many questions about this topic I don't know where to start. It

is so nice to come in contact with someone who has learnt things

directly from a guru. Is it that you are teaching yoga in England?

Because that is what I got from your last sentence in your reply.

Sincerely,

Bhupendra.
