Dear Sriman,

Namaste!!! Gomati Chakra is a sea shell. It is also known as "cow's

eye" shell. It is considered lucky to wear. I'm attaching two pictures,

top and bottom of a Gomati chakra sea shell set in gold (sample is NOT

for sale).

Dear Richard,

I have a practical question regarding setting a Gomati shell in gold.

How well does it take high temperatures? Sometimes organic matter

does not respond well to heating and can break. The pendant shown in

the picture: how is the shell attached to the frame? By gluing? I'm

asking because I'm interested in having a pendant like this made but

am not sure if the material allows setting in gold.

Kindest regards,

Mary

Dear Mary,

Namaste!!! The gold setting is made with a bezel to fit the shell. There is no

heating with

the shell inside. Once the setting is ready, then the shell is put into the

setting and it is

held in by the goldsmith pushing the bezel tight arount the edges of the shell.

There is no

need of glue. Heating is only used before the shell is set in. And then the

bezel is tapped

closed by hand. Your goldsmith will know what to do if you show the picture from

the

Sacred-Objects home page.
