In addition, it will serve as a basis for more advanced training for those desiring to either become practitioners of Ayurveda or to extend their skills to care for their families. This course is planned as the first of several course programs in Ayurveda that will take students through intermedia te and advanced levels of proficiency and which will train and certify students as Ayurvedic practitioners-consultants. Starseed's Ayurveda Practitioner Program is scheduled to begin operation in September 2004, and courses currently undertaken (including this one, which is a prerequisite for all other intermediate, advanced and practitioner-level courses offered in the program) carry full credit applicable to the program. The course's instructor, Dr. Aparna Bapat, is one of the world's premier writers, scholars, teachers and practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine whose work is known in the United States, the United Kingdom and India. Dr. Bapat is a graduate of the University of Pune Faculty of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery; is formerly Senior Lecturer at the College of Ayurveda (London, U.K.).and is presently consultant at the Ayurveda Center, New York City. She is the author of numerous articles on Ayurvedic medicine and related themes and has made mult iple television appearances (on London's Zee-TV) as health issues consultant.
