in association of ordinary devotees certainly vaisnava aparadha's come into

consideration.

as below:

The Skanda PurANa states:

yo hi bhAgavataM lokam upahAsaM nRpottama

karoti tasya nazyanti artha-dharma-yazaH-sutAH

nindAM kurvanti ye mUDhA vaiSNavAnAM mahAtmanAm

patanti pitRbhiH sArdhaM mahA-raurava-saMjJite

hanti nindati vai dveSTi vaiSNavAn nAbhinandati

krudhyate yAti no harSaM darzane patanAni SaT

"O best of kings, if one derides an exalted devotee, he loses the results of

his pious activities, his opulence, his reputation, and his sons. Those

fools who blaspheme great VaiSNavas fall down to the hell known as

MahAraurava, accompanied by their forefathers. Whoever kills or blasphemes a

VaiSNava, whoever is envious of or angry with a VaiSNava, and whoever does

not offer proper greetings or feel joy upon seeing a VaiSNava certainly

becomes fallen."

In the AmRta-sAroddhAra it is stated:

janma-prabhRti yat kiJcit sukRtaM samupArjitam

nAzam AyAti tat sarvaM pIDayed yadi vaiSNavAn

"If one gives pain to the VaiSNavas, then the results of his pious

activities like high birth and high caste are all destroyed."

Also in the Skanda PurANa it is said:

pUrvaM kRtvA tu sammAnam avajJAM kurute tu yaH

vaiSNavAnAM mahI-pAla sAnvayo yAti saGkSayam

"O ruler of the world, one who first respects a VaiSNava and then later

insults him is vanquished along with his family."

In the Brahma-vaivarta PurANa, KRSNa-janma-khaNDa, it is stated:

ye nindanti hRSIkezaM tad-bhaktaM puNya-rUpiNam

zata-janmArjitaM puNyaM teSAM nazyati nizcitam

te pacyante mahA-ghore kumbhIpAke bhayAnake

bhakSitAH kITa-saGghena yAvac candra-divAkarau

tasya darzana-mAtreNa puNyaM nazyati nizcitam

gaGgAM snAtvA raviM dRSTA tadA vidvAn vizuddhyati

"Those who criticize Lord HRSIkeza or the VaiSNavas, who are under His

all-auspicious shelter, lose all the pious credits they have accrued in a

hundred births. Such sinners rot in the KumbhIpAka hell and are eaten by

hordes of worms for as long as the sun and moon exist. If one sees a person

who blasphemes Lord ViSNu and His devotees, then the results of all his

pious activities are lost. When learned persons see such non-VaiSNavas, they

purify themselves by taking bath in the Ganges and looking at the sun."

and also:

In the DvArakA-mAhAtmya it is said:

kara-patraiz ca phAlyante su-tIvrair yama-zAsanaiH

nindAM kurvanti ye pApA vaiSNavAnAM mahAtmanAm

pUjito bhagavAn viSNur janmAntara-zatair api

prasIdati na vizvAtmA vaiSNave cApamAnite

"Those most sinful people who criticize great VaiSNavas are subjected by

YamarAja to the severe punishment of being sliced in pieces by very sharp

saws. Lord Hari, the Supersoul of the entire universe, is never pleased with

the miscreant who insults a VaiSNava, even if he has worshiped ViSNu for

hundreds of births."

Yet: there is a verse in Vallabha's yamunastakam that states that those who

drink 1 palmful of Yamuna water with faith will not go to hell.

verse 4

namo stu yamune sada tava caritram atyadabhuta

na jatu yama yatana bhavati te paya panata

yamo pt bhagini suta kathum u hanti dustam api

priyabhir iva sevitam tava harer api gopika

" I offer my respects constantly to you Yamuna devi for your glorie are most

astonishing, one who respectfully drinks even a palmful of your water, will

never go to hell, for how could your brother yamu hurt the sons of his

sister yamuna even if they are sinful? one who serves you becomes like one

of Hari's gopikas."

one can certainly argue that "dusta" vrtti does not include exemption from

present or previous Vaisnava aparadhas. and I also agree. Yet some offenses

to vaisnavas are really accidental, and are removed by sincerely serving

vaisnava's repenting, intense chanting and remorse.

sincere remorse is the criteria for Mercy in all respects.

Yamuna devi is "no ordinary devotee" She happens to be the Lord 4th wife in

Dwaraka lila and also non different to Vishaka devi in Vraja-lila.

She can choose if She likes to bless anyone, she chooses. I humbly submit,

that all (even past offenders-should un hesitantly take Her shelter, ( as

Rupa Gosvami in His astakam) suggests even afar by desiring to bathe in HEr

waters.

> > > "To a person that is lusty, foolish, polluted with

> > > many sins and fond of

> > > quarreling with devotees, Sri Yamuna, who is filled

> > > with many buzzing bees,

> > > gives residence in the transcendental abode of

> > > Goloka."

anyone having faith in Yamuna devi's power (based on the many glories of

Yamuna as stated by rupa Gosvami and Vallabha acarya) can see that If She

decides to deliver someone who sincerely regrets their sinful past at the

time of their death. who are we conditioned souls to say "She can't? "

respectfully submitted

TridaNDi BhikSu, Bhakti Visrambha MAdhava
