1. GOD LOVES HIS CHILDREN AND ALSO................

Rajeswari Kasturi,

Saidarbar – Hyderabad.

>From the Satsanghs of SaibanisaJi

Sai Ram! No doubt, God loves His children the way we love our

children. But when our children are going on the wrong path we advise

them to correct their mistakes. If they do not correct after listening

to our advice, some times we will punish them. I want to quote a

proverb from English book " Spare the rod and spoil the child", this

clearly shows that we should love our children and if they are in

wrong path, we should punish them too.

Even in Bhagawad Gita, Lord Krishna says, "Dusta Sikshana and Sista

Rakshna (punishing bad and protecting the Good) is the important duty

of the God. Lord Krishna Himself punished Sisupala after Sisupala

committed 100 mistakes.

Lord Rama punished Ravana after giving him a chance to realize his

mistake and correct himself. But Ravana has not realized and he got

the punishment from Lord Rama.

With all these things, I would like to say with my little knowledge,

no doubt God loves His children, but at the same time, God will punish

also if we are in bad path.

4. FOOT STEPS OF THE HOLY FEET –2

EXPERIENCES OF SAI.BA.NI.SA WITH SHIRDI SAI

During the year 1991 I was trying for a good marriage alliance for my

daughter but I could not succeed. I had been to various places and

invited parents of bridegrooms to visit my house and see my daughter.

In spite of various requests no one has turned up to see my daughter.

It was on 01-01-92 New Year's Day morning I prayed Sri SAI BABA of

SHIRIDI and asked for a message regarding the marriage of my daughter.

I closed my eyes and opened a page in the SAI SATCHARITA written by

Sri Nagesh Vasudev Gunaji. To my surprise it was page 241 chapter 47

and the message was "I told him not to worry about this, as the

bridegroom himself would come seeking her". I was very happy as the

message indicates marriage of my daughter will takes place in the year

1992. In the month of January 1992, one of my friends Sri Sree

Ramachandra Murthy asked me the Bio-data and Horoscope of my daughter

so that he will give it to his friend Sri Somayajulu who is a social

worker and match maker. In fact I was not much associated with Sri

Somayajulu. On 17-02-1992 when I reached my office at 09.00 a.m.

Telephone on my table was ringing and I lifted the phone when I asked

who is speaking at the other end, the answer was, he was the

bridegroom who came from Visakhapatnam to see my daughter. He told me

about Sri Somayajulu who has given Bio-data and Horoscope of my

daughter. I was in dilemma and prayed Baba; Sri SAI BABA instantly

answered my prayer and advised me to go ahead. I invited the

bridegroom and his parents to my house at 02.30 p.m. and introduced my

daughter to them. They had a talk with my daughter for about one hour

and left my house to Visakhapatnam.

On 19-02-1992 I got a telegram from the bridegroom's father stating

that they liked my daughter and invited me and my wife for betrothal

ceremony. With the consent of my daughter we reached Visakhapatnam on

20-02-1992, and fixed the marriage of my daughter. I felt Sri SAI has

given a good bridegroom to my daughter. The marriage fixed on

10-05-1992 at 06.58 a.m. in Hyderabad. I prayed Baba to help me in the

marriage activities and for the success of the marriage on 22-03-1992

in the afternoon sleep Sri SAI BABA appeared to me in the dream in the

form of my Father (LATE SRI R.V.RAO) and promised me that he will help

me in my daughters marriage and he will attend the marriage also. I

was surprised how a dead person (my father) can attend the marriage

and help me in the marriage. IN SAI SATCHARITA chapter 40 page 212 SRI

SAI BABA says "I always to think about him for those who remembers me,

I require no conveyance, i.e. carriage, Tonga, (Horse drawn Cart) or

an Aero plane. I run and manifest myself to him, who lovingly calls on

me". I felt SRI SAI BABA might not attend the marriage of my daughter

in the form of my father. SRI SAI says in the SAI SATCHARITA page 151

chapter 28 "I have no form nor any extension - I live Everywhere" SRI

SAI BABA further told in chapter 40 page 213 "See, to keep my words I

would even sacrifice my life, I would never be untrue to my words". I

totally surrendered to SRI SAI BABA and started the marriage

arrangements. In the month of March 1992 wedding cards were printed

and as per the directions of SRI SAI I posted First card to Genesh

Temple, Ranathambhore, Second card to Balaji Temple, Tirupathi, Third

card to Sri Sai Baba in Shiridi. Then I posted five cards abroad and

prayed Baba to see that at least one family from abroad attends the

marriage.

I was surprised to see my well wishers Smt. & Sri V.Surya Rao from

U.S.A came to Hyderabad on 09-05-1992 to attend the marriage. On

09-05-1992 I prayed Baba to help me in the marriage function and see

that it is successful. Finally the marriage day i.e. 10-05-1992 has

come, I was very busy in the morning as the MUHURAT was at 06.58 a.m.

I could not spare even five minutes time for the SAI SATCHARITA

Parayana. I was having Ahamkar (Pride) that I can spare daily time for

SATCHARITA PARAYANA. Sri Sai made me so much busy that I could not

touch the SAI SATCHARITA on that day, and he removed my Ahamkar. I

totally forgot Sri Sai in the marriage and I was talking to my friends

and bridegroom's relatives. It was around 11.45 a.m. the Pandit of

Bridegroom has come to me along with a Brahmin and asked me to give

some Dakshina to the Brahmin. I thought the Brahmin must be his

relative, and I gave Rs.21/- as Dakshina. Then the Brahmin was asking

about food. The Pandit has sent him to dining hall to take the food

along with other guests. When I entered dining hall to talk with the

guests and relatives, I found the Brahmin who took Dakshina from me

was smiling towards me, I felt he may ask more money and so I left

that place. I was fully busy in attending to the need of the

Bridegrooms party. The time was 04.30 p.m. and the DOLLI started. I

could not take food even at 6.30 p.m. I was having some

misunderstandings with some relatives and I was upset. Because of the

misunderstandings I could not take food in the night also.

After the MUHARAT in the morning my well wisher Sri V.Surya Rao who

came to the marriage from U.S.A has offered the Break-fast and told me

"you will be very busy today and you will not get time to take food so

have this breakfast". Had I not taken the breakfast it would have

become FASTING day to me. SRI SAI is against fasting and he never

allowed his devotees to observe fasting. (Ref.Chapter 32 page 173). In

the night before I was going to bed I prayed Sri Sai Baba and conveyed

my thanks to him for the success of the marriage. I felt Sri Sai Baba

has not attended the marriage and it was Baba's breach of promise. Sri

Sai has promised on 22-03-1992 that he will attend the marriage, if

Sri Sai Baba attended the marriage in which form he attended? It was a

question to me and I asked Sri Sai to kindly clear my doubts. Sri Sai

Baba appeared to me in the dream in the form of Brahmin (who took

Rs.21/- from me as Dakshina) and was smiling. I got up from my bed and

stood in front of Sai's Photograph and blamed myself for not

recognizing Sai who attended my daughter's marriage without fail. Next

day to cross check I asked Bridegrooms Pandit about the Brahmin who

took Rs.21/- as Dakshina from me. He informed that the Brahmin is a

Stranger to him who happened to come to the marriage. I felt that

STRANGER is none other than SAI.

BOW TO SHRI SAI - PEACE BE TO ALL.

5. SAI IN DREAMS:

These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SAIBANISA

from our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that

this feature will help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled

from his personal Diary and presented to SAIBANDHUS.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

Dated: 05-03-1993.

I saw an old man grinding wheat flour in a grinding mill more than

what he requires for himself. He addressed me as follows – "you also

get ground in the so called mill (society) and feed my devotees with

the Rotis thus made". The words were still ringing in my ears as I got

up. The under lying philosophy in grinding of wheat flour is well

described in the 1st chapter. I felt as if Sai himself has practically

demonstrated the contents as to how I can be useful to the society.

Living in isolation is impossible. Do some thing for the society that

gives us so much.

Dated: 06-03-1993.

Sai has very well depicted my present status of life. I was riding a

cycle Rickshaw. My wife and children were seated in the Rickshaw. It

was raining heavily. The uneven road was fully submersed in water. My

Children grew impatient, got down and preferred their own way. My wife

seated from behind was advising me to peddle cautiously. I was tired

both physically and mentally. As time passed, I could sight a fakir

catching up to help me. Later I saw him pushing and guiding me for a

smoother path free from ups and downs. I recollected the contents from

the chapter sixth where in it is said that with the help from

`Sadhguru', one can reach the destination with ease – no matter how

ever tough it may be. I believed that Sai has demonstrated his

assurance in participation to me.

Rickshaw: A manual driven Tricycle meant for transporting people.

Unfailing faith is the only useful tool in the hour of crisis.

6. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

"Shashi": shashi_31

16. What is God? Who is God? How are we to see God?

c. How to see God?

Cry unto God with a yearning heart, and then you shall see Him. People

would shed jarful of tears for the sake of God. Whoever cries out for

God, cry to Him only and not to make a show, but with a longing and

yearning heart. The rosy light of the dawn comes before the rising

sun. Likewise is a longing and yearning heart, the sing of God-Vision

can be seen. We may see God if our love for Him is as strong as the

two attachments put together. They are the attachment of a mother to

her child, attachment of a chaste and devoted wife to her husband. In

order to see God, one must love Him, heart and soul. One must offer

one's prayer so that they may reach God.

Sri Narasimha Swamiji explains: The mind is turbulent. Effort must be

made to make it steady. Just as a fly flies and sits on all objects

but turns back when it approaches fire, so the mind longs after sense

objects, rejoices in them and merges in them. When thus the unruly

mind does not merge in God, rebirth is inevitable. Till the mind is

conquered, one is to be born again. But among births the human birth

is most precious. Therefore do worship God to make the mind steady and

concentrated. Even idols are God. Do not reject them. When an idol is

worshipped with deep devotion, the mind attains concentration, without

which there is no steadiness of mind. Then practice recollection of

Spiritual works read by you. Try to practice what is mentioned in

them. ATMA VIDYA, the science of the SELF is the highest wisdom. If

that is mastered, salvation can be achieved. Then we can get

knowledge, how to realize God.

7. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

>From Saidarbar files:

July 30, 1998

Dear devotees,

Thank you for sending me the Sai newsletter. It is a pleasure to read

about Baba. I would like to share a wonderful experience with all Sai

devotees, which I had actually witnessed in 1996. I had a friend who

was polio stricken from birth. In 1994, she met me for the first time

and I was deeply saddened to see a young and beautiful girl dragging

herself to the computer class. One day I mustered courage to ask her

about her condition. She said she was always like that. Next day, I

gave her a locket of Saibaba of Shirdi whom I absolutely revered, I

asked her to wear it and I remember telling her that He will cure you.

I lost all touch with her, once the computer course was over. One day,

in JULY 1996, I heard from her and she broke the news that she could

walk, run do anything with her legs. I was stunned, I have yet to see

such a miracle happen, Baba inspired a doctor in Vellore,

circumstances so happened that she went to visit her uncle in UP,

India and she ran into this God-sent doctor. The doctor said he would

like to operate on her, if the surgery is successful, you'll be able

to walk again, otherwise I will amputate your affected leg and replace

it with an artificial leg. She agreed and Sai spared her leg, the

surgeon straightened her leg, all this may sound unbelievable but I

have seen it with my own eyes. She is married now and what I feel is

that all these years prior to wearing the locket, why no Doctor had

ever suggested or even tried saving her leg? As far as I am concerned,

it remains a sheer miracle of modern times. Sai Ram to all, I wanted

to share this with all esteemed Bhakts' of OUR LORD SAI BABA OF

SHIRDI. Thanks for reading.

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA

Venkateswaraswamy Swarna" swamysv & swamymain

4/23/2005 22:20:39 -0700

Sai Ram. With prayers to the Sadguru Sainath Maharaj, let us continue

with the theme of Dakshina, especially the account given by Shri

B.V.Deo at the end of the English translation by Sri Gunaji at the end

of what is a beautiful chapter, which accounted for Ratanji's visit to

Shirdi and his discovering the oneness of Sai with all other Saints

(in fact, with everything and every one).

Post-script

Mr. B. V. Deo of Thana, retired Mamlatdar, and a great devotee of

Baba, has written an article on this subject (Dakshina) in "Shri Sai

Leela" magazine, Vol.VII, P.6-26, in which he says amongst other

things, as follows: -

"Baba did not ask Dakshina from all. If some gave Dakshina without

being asked, He sometimes accepted it; and at other times He refused

it. He asked it from certain devotees only. He never demanded it, from

those devotees, who thought in their minds that Baba should ask them

for it, and then they should pay it. If anybody offered it against His

wish, He never touched it, and if he kept it there, He asked him to

take it away. He asked for small or big amounts from devotees,

according to their wish, devotion and convenience. He asked it, even

from women and children. He never asked all the rich for it, nor from

all the poor."

Sai Ram. There are enough incidents in Satcharitra to substantiate the

above. Baba explains to Shama that the Fakir points out to Him the

people whose debts are due to be discharged and so He asks them

Dakshina, so that they become free from the debts. The story of the

Datta Bhakta who forgot to offer his first month's salary and who was

reminded by Baba, the story of a boy who forgot to offer the peda so

lovingly sent by Smt. Savitri Tendulkar and so how Baba reminded that

boy so that the peda reached Him and a few more stories drive home

this point. Similarly Baba did not accept the dakshina of Rs.35

offered by the man who lost his life savings and recovered the same by

Baba's grace, showing that He had no attachment to the dakshina received.

"Baba never got angry with those from whom He asked Dakshina, and who

did not give it. If any Dakshina was sent, through some friend, who

forgot to hand over the same to Baba, He reminded him somehow of it

and made him pay it. On some occasons, Baba used to return some sum

from the amount tendered as Dakshina, and ask the donor to guard it or

keep it in his shrine for worship. This procedure benefited the donor

or devotee immensely. If anybody offered more than he originally

intended to give, He returned the extra amount. Sometimes, He asked

more Dakshina from some, than what they originally intended to give

and, if they had no money, asked them to get or borrow from others.

>From some, He demanded Dakshina three or four times a day."

Sai Ram. Thus it is seen that no one can draw some patterns in what

Baba is going to do with regard to Dakshina. It seems that Baba's

great devotee Sri Nanasaheb Chandorkar had a plan to keep some funds

in a different place so that when he ran out of the money on his body,

he can still send for it and thus fulfill Baba's demands for

Dakshnina. Baba punctured that plan once by demanding again and again

till Nana ran out of the funds. Sai thus showed that He knew the inner

secrets of all. He also showed that He is above any materialistic

needs. "Out of the amount collected as Dakshina, Baba spent very

little for His own sake, viz., for buying Chilim (clay pipe) and fuel

for His Dhuni (sacred fire), and all the rest, He distributed as

charity in varying proportions to various persons. All the

paraphernalia of the Shirdi Sansthan was brought, by various rich

devotees at the instance and suggestion of Radha-Krishna-Mai. Baba

always used to get wild and scolded those, who brought costly and rich

articles. He said to Mr. Nanasaheb Chandorkar, that all His property

consisted of one koupin (codpiece), one stray piece of cloth, one

Kafni and a tumrel (tinpot), and that all the people troubled Him by

bringing all these unnecessary, useless and costly articles."

Woman and wealth are the two main obstacles in the way of our

Pramartha (spiritual life); and Baba and provided in Shirdi two

institutions, viz., Dakshina and Radha-Krishna-Mai. Whenever they came

to Him, He demanded Dakshina from them, and asked them to go to the

'SCHOOL' (Radha-Krishna-Mai's house). If they stood these two tests

well, i.e. if they showed that they were free from attachment for

woman and wealth, their progress in spirituality was rapid and assured

by Baba's grace and blessings. Mr. Deo has also quoted passages from

the Gita and Upanishads; and shown that charity given in a holy place

and to a holy personage conduces to the donors'

welfare to a great degree. What is more holy than Shirdi and its

Presiding Deity -- Sai Baba?

Bow to Shri Sai - Peace be to all

Sai Ram. In the above passage, the word woman is used in a general

sense. Sexual desire (Kama) and Rama cannot go together. Attachments

run in several forms, desire for money, for tasty food, for expensive

clothes, for jewellery, for social prestige, for intellectual learning

etc. All such attachments are bonds. And we do karma with the

intention of enjoying the fruits of our karma in such forms. Sai was

trying to bring us out of our self-imposed prisons of these

attachments and was using Dakshina as a means. Dan, that is charity

given to the right people at the right time and at the right place is

supposed to give good results in the form of material and spiritual

welfare. The adage "Kanchanam Karma Vimochanam" is well known. As Shri

Deo rightly pointed out, dakshina offered to one's Guru with humility

is the first step in offering one's ego. And in the nine forms of

devotion, Bhakti, Atma Nivedanam comes last and is probably the

toughest. So, a good beginning can be made by offering dakshina with

humility at the feet of Sadguru Sai.

Sai Ram. We have now, for the time being completed the chapter 14 of

Sai Satcharitra. In the next few weeks, we will, with the Guru's

grace, explore the gems from the next chapter "Cholkar's sugarless

tea" and other beautiful topics. Sai Ram.

9. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with

children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting

Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Baba told before He

took His Maha Samadhi that He is Muralidhar and would like to play in

Booty Wada (Samadhi Mandir) with His devotees. So far you have enjoyed

Krishna Leelas. Baba has also established his identity with Lord Sri

Rama. Now I will take you through our epic Ramayan. Tell your parents

to read the Glory of Shirdi Sai – Bi-weekly E-magazine and narrate

Ramayan from this magazine.

ABDUCTION OF SITA:

Lakshmana abandoned all hope of instilling reason in Sita. Now he had

no way but to follow the command given by Sita. He decided to go but

before he left he drew a line around the entrance of the hut and said

to Sita, "Do not cross this line in any circumstances. No one can

enter this line. The intruder shall be burnt to death." His departure

was both against his wish and the order of Rama. He rushed in the

direction Rama had gone after the golden deer. Ravana, who was hiding

nearby, had seen and heard everything. As Lakshmana went to help his

brother, Ravana immediately transformed himself into an old hermit,

with a begging bowl in one hand and a walking stick in the other. He

went at the entrance of the hut and called out for some alms. Sita

politely asked the hermit to come her hut and take some fruits, but

Ravana, who had heard the words that went between Lakshmana and Sita,

declined by saying, " I am a hermit and I have resolved not to enter

any home, so I can not enter your hut. If you want to give alms to

this hermit, you shall have to come out of your hut." Ravana stood a

step or two away from the line drawn by Lakshmana. He knew that as

long as Sita was within that line he would not succeed in abducting

her. If he were to abduct Sita, he must some how make her come out of

the line drawn by Lakshmana.

Sita was in a dilemma. She neither wanted to cross the "Lakshmana

–line" nor did she wish to turn an old hermit from her door without

alms. She thought that an old hermit could do no harm to her.

Therefore, unsuspecting Sita disregarded Lakshmana's advice, and

stepped across the line to offer alms to the old hermit. As Sita

stepped out, Ravana, assuming his real form, sprang on her and carried

the terror-stricken and stunned Sita to his flying chariot and flew

away. She was struggling hard to get out of his grip, but Ravana was

too strong for her. Sita fell faint with terror and anger in the

flying chariot. When she recovered a bit she cursed Ravana and

threatened him with Rama's wrath. She warned him that one day he would

surely be punished and killed for his evil actions. She wept, lamented

and cried for help.

Jatayu, the vulture-king and an old family friend of Rama heard the

cries of Sita. He looked up to find Ravana's flying chariot speeding

away with crying and wailing Sita in it. He fought with Ravana to save

Sita, but when his wings were slashed off he fell down on the ground

helplessly. Ravana resumed his aerial journey. While going over the

Rishyamuka Mountain, the wailing Sita saw some people sitting on its

peak. She managed to drop some of her ornaments in the hope that they

might be picked up by Rama, if by chance he came that side.

To be continued…

10. ARTICLES FROM SAI DEVOTEES:

Sankaraiah Dubagunta" sainama

SADGATI TO A TIGER

Baba told Mrs. Tarkhad who fed the hungry dog " The dog which you saw

before meals and to which you gave a piece of bread is one with Me so

also others creatures cats, pigs, files, cows etc., are one with Me.

He who sees Me in these creatures is My beloved". Baba further

declared that "All the insects, ants, the visible movable and

immovable world is My body or form". We can observe from the tiger's

incident that Baba's above words are true in letter and spirit.

Sri.Jyotindra's eyewitness account is given below:

One day an ailing Tiger was brought to Dwarakamai seven days prior to

Baba's Maha Samadhi. The Darveshis heard from the villagers that Baba

was powerful and could cure Tiger's ailment. The Tiger duly chained

was brought in a cart to Dwarakamai. Baba permitted them to bring it

inside Dwarakamai close to the steps of platform where Baba would be

sitting. The Tiger on seeing Baba bent down his head and growled in a

very loud voice and fell flat motionless on the ground (dead). The

darveshis sought Baba's guidance regarding the disposal of the dead

body. Baba advised them to bury outside Siva's Mandir near statue of

Nandi. The tiger's funeral ceremony was attended by all villagers.

This is the story.

The purpose of this article is to know what Baba explained to

Jyotindra. On enquiry from Jyotindra as to what transpired between the

tiger and Him, Baba told "Hay Bhau! the tiger was in deep agony and

was requesting me to relieve him out of miserable condition, Hence I

prayed to the Lord to grant him salvation. The tiger is free forever

from the cycle of births and deaths and rebirth". Here we have to

understand what is stated in para 1 above is correct. He knows the

language of animals and insects not only human beings. Though He

Himself is God, He prayed to the Lord for the Moksha of the tiger,

What a Humility!!

Om Sai Ram!

SaiRam!

I am a new member to Saidarbar group. I am doing Sai parayana this

week and had the fortune to read the chapter of Saibaba telling Shama

to read Vishnusahasranaamam. While reading it, a doubt occurred to me

why is Baba telling that he has a stomachache, when he is fine. But

immediately I thought that as He is Sai, He knows the reason behind

everything. Yesterday when I joined your group...I wished to read the

article "Sai in Ramayan" you published. And I must say I am very much

moved when you cleared my slightest doubt as soon as it arose. I am

forever indebted to Sai who shows me the way in dark and guides me always.

Thanking you,

Ramya

14. EDITORIAL.

Things impressed me from this Magazine:

- Lord Sri Krishna in Gita said –"Whenever and wherever Adharma reins

and Himsa prevails beyond the limit of tolerance, I shall step in and

act to correct the situation to strike balance by resorting to Dusta

Sikshana and Sista Rakshna".

- "I have no form nor any extension - I live Everywhere". This is

amply proved as is experienced by many of HIS devotees. Sincere and

clarion calls are undoubtedly answered, as unfailing faith is the only

useful tool in the hour of crisis.

- Even idols are God. When an idol is worshipped with deep devotion,

the mind attains concentration, as there is a lakshya (direction) is

established, contributing towards steadiness of mind.

- As far as I am concerned, it remains a sheer miracle of modern times

is highlighted from the `Devotee's Experiences'. It goes to prove that

sincere prayers do not go waste. Rightly said that Baba has pulled the

strings and organized the further enactment that went on to rid the

girl from her Sanchayita karma, as the days of her miseries and trauma

were to come to an end.

- Journey to spirituality has to begin with a sense of detachment

towards materialistic pulls and pressures, namely wealth and woman

gradually. Though He Himself is God, He prayed to the Lord for the

Moksha of the tiger. Baba always addressed himself as a humble servant

of God and preached that everyone should look for God in all the

living creatures and in all forms of nature.

Tail piece- Baba fulfills all the needs of HIS devotees

till he has nothing more left to ask except surrendering to HIS holy

feet.

With the permission of Saibanisaji, we have started a new

article from the last issue "FOOT STEPS OF THE HOLY FEET" in which

mainly Saibanisaji's close interaction with Lord Sainath of Shirdi

will be narrated. Hope the readers will be benefited after reading

these experiences for developing faith in Lord Sainath of Shirdi.
