3. SAI PHILOSOPHY:

SAI PHILOSOPHY FROM THE DIARY OF SAI.BA.NI.SA.

These messages are the outcome and essence of the dream sequences of

Saibanisa as given by Lord Sainath, which reflect the Sai Philosophy

and his high thinking. They carry a sense of deep meaning and are

generally thought provoking, enough to set one?s thinking process.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY

76) 19th November, 1996: Men engrossed in worldly pleasures appear

happy and contented to all others. When surrounded with difficulties

they are the weakest. On the other hand men with spiritual bent of

mind put up a brave front under all odds.

77) 20th November, 1996: Giving birth to children and bringing them

up, looking after them treating them as your only pre occupation does

not automatically entitle you to the divine grace. You are only

discharging your responsibilities like any other creature, as it?s

natural obligation.

78) 22nd November 1996: The journey through life requires money. Earn

to the extent required and lead a disciplined life.

79) 27th November 1996: For people desirous of travel on the path of

spiritualism do not offer any thing more than advice. Never attempt to

travel with them.

80) 28th November 1996: On the occasion of your "BIRTHDAY" read a holy

book and seek blessings from God and elders.

SAI IN LETTERS (Saibanisa's letters to his Son)

Translated from the Telugu original into English by Sri Sai Devotee

Madhusudan Nori.

Secunderabad - 28 February 2000

I request the readers to read first Sri Sai Satcharitra in English by

Late Sri Nagesh Vasudev Gunaji, before reading these letters.

OM SAI

Hyderabad

06 February 1992

Letter - 32 (Chapter - 34)

Dear Chakrapani,

Sri Hemadri Pant continued to describe the Mahima (supernatural power)

of Udi (sacred ash) in this chapter also. Sri Sai Satcharitra is a

treasure house for Leelas (divine occurrences) of Sri Sai before HE

attained Maha Samadhi (an act of merging the spirit with the eternal

spirit GOD). Sai devotees are witness to Sri Sai Leelas performed

after the year 1918 i.e. from the time Sri Sai ceased to exist in HIS

human form. Cultivate faith in words of Sri Sai quoted in this

chapter. His words are - Those who step into Dwarakamayi in full

faith, will never suffer from any disease or ailment in this life-.

Prior to 1989 I suffered many a time with severe pain in my joints. I

did not suffer any more from these joint pains after 1990 to this

date. I attribute this improvement in my health to my visit to Shirdi,

stepping into Dwarakamayi and surrendering myself at Sri Sai's feet in

1990. Note Sri Sai's words quoted in the episode of Dr. Pillai in this

chapter. His words are - Tell him to be fearless. Why should he suffer

for 10 births? I can mitigate all sins of his past lives in 10 days-.

In my opinion an ordinary human being can never utter such words to

generate courage in a hopeless situation. The supreme GOD incarnated

as Sri Sai in a human form and only HE could forgive sins of devotees,

mitigate consequences of such sins and bring relief. This way HE

ensured that devotees developed unflinching faith in the supreme GOD.

Sri Sai's words uttered in HIS human form showcase HIS divinity and

humility. Note these words - I am not God, I am not Lord, I am only

HIS obedient servant-.

Many Mahatmas (great souls), Yogis (God realized souls) and God's

incarnations

have taken birth on this earth in this Kali Yuga (age of Kali). But

none of them spoke as Sri Sai had spoken. None of them can be compared

to Sri Sai. Sri Sai had cured many people, suffering from various

diseases and given up as hopeless cases by the Doctors of the day. In

some cases Sri Sai transferred the ailments from the patients to

himself and liberated them from their suffering. HE always uttered,

while curing the ailments of patients - Allah Malik Hai, Allah achcha

karega (God is the Master, HE will cure)-. Has any recluse, mendicant

or Yogi of the present day uttered such words. Just think about it.

Fill your thoughts fully with Sri Sai; HE will take good care of you.

In service of Sri Sai,

Your father

7. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA:

"SV.SWAMY" svswamy1 & swamyswarna

4/14/2004 12:28:31 -0000

Sai Ram. Let us continue with the Spiritual Gems from Chapter 10 of

Sai Satcaritra.

Sai Baba as SadGuru

?There are Gurus and Gurus. There are many so-called Gurus, who go

about from house to house with cymbals and veena in their hands, and

make a show of their spirituality. They blow mantras into the ears of

their disciples and extract money from them. They profess to teach

piety and religion to their disciples, but are themselves impious and

irreligious.? While Shri Hemadpant seems to be criticizing this type

of Gurus, let us remember what he wrote inspired by Sri Sai in a later

chapter. When a devotee broke the coconut and thus the trust put in

him by Sri Vasudevananda Saraswati Swamy (Tembye Swamy), and when the

devotee fell at Sai?s feet and asked for forgiveness, Sai told the

devotee, one great Spiritual Secret. It is worth quoting here. "Now

you need not worry yourself any more about the matter. It was on

account of my wish that the coconut was entrusted to you, and

ultimately broken on the way; why should you take the responsibility

of the actions on you? Do not entertain the sense of doership in doing

good, as well as for bad deeds; be entirely prideless and egoless in

all things and thus your spiritual progress will be rapid."

Sai Ram. What a beautiful and uplifting instruction! And if you recall

one of the early chapters where the episode of pseudo Guru Jawahar Ali

was described, it is clear that even a pseudo Guru is better than no

Guru! By following the false Guru also obediently, the ego of the

disciple is slowly but steadily dissolved. The disciple is supposed to

look at the Guru as Parabrahma and not look at Him as a human being.

Only by this total surrender, will the ego get dissolved. And once ego

gets dissolved, the false Guru also realizes the errors in his own

perceptions and the Disciple becomes the Guru! Like it happened to

Jawahar Ali. The contact with a Sadguru never, never goes waste. ?Sai

Baba never thought of making the least show of His worth (piety).

Body-consciousness, He had none, but He had great love for the

disciples. There are two kinds of Gurus (1) 'Niyat' (appointed or

fixed) and (2) 'Aniyat' unappointed or general, but he, who fixes us

in our Nature (Self) and carries us beyond the ocean of worldly

existence, is the SadGuru. Sai Baba was such a SadGuru.?

Sai Ram. The word, Guru has several meanings. One of them is large,

heavy. A large, heavy object attracts a smaller object by

gravitational force and pulls it towards itself. Similarly the Guru

attracts the disciple and accelerates the spiritual development. And

finally both meet. The Disciple realizes that he too is of the same

divine nature as the Guru. Tat Tvam Asi is classified as a Mahavakya,

great sentence in Upanishats. Thou art that! What! That which is

beyond all description, that which is the Truth. Guru also means One

who dispels the darkness. The Spiritual Darkness. By making the

disciple realize that all his egoistic concepts are false. The only

truth is that all concepts are false. The only concept that is true is

that. ?His greatness is undescribable. If anybody went to take His

darshan, he, without being asked, would give every detail of his past,

present and future life.? Sai Ram. He did that, not to show His

greatness, but to show His ability to merge Himself, identify Himself

with any and every being, sentient and insentient.

?He saw Divinity in all beings. Friends and foes were alike to Him.

Disinterested and equal-balanced, He obliged the evildoers. He was the

same in prosperity and adversity. No doubt, ever touched Him. Though

He possessed the human body, He was not in the least attached to His

body or house. Though He looked embodied, He was really disembodied,

i.e., free in this every life.? He was fully liberated. From the

confinements of body, mind and ego. To Him, there was no other. Since

He was free, He also was in a position to guide other Sadhakas to

reach the same stage of freedom. ?Blessed are the people of Shirdi,

who worshipped Sai as their God. While eating, drinking, working in

their backyards and fields and doing various household works, they

always remembered Sai and sang His glory. Fortunate devotee may

undertake the task of collecting and publishing these folk songs,

either in the Sai Leela magazine or separately in a book-form. Sai

Ram. If He wills it. Nothing happens without His will.

Baba's Humility

Lord or Bhagwan is said to have six qualities, viz. (1) Fame, (2)

Wealth, (3) Non-attachment, (4) Knowledge, (5) Grandeur, and (6)

Generosity. Baba had all these in Him. He incarnated in flesh for the

sake of the Bhaktas. Wonderful was His grace and kindness! He drew the

devotees to Him, or how else one could have known Him!? Sai Ram. As

mentioned above, Sai was a Sadguru and Guru draws the disciples to

Him. We can?t reach Baba physically or mentally unless we had some

Poorva Janma Punyam and anubandham (relationwhip) with Him. Baba

Himself confirmed this in another chapter when He described how He

pulls his devotees or disciples to him like a sparrow with a thread

tied to its legs. And knowing His true nature? how is it possible

unless He wills it? Namameeswaram Sadgurum Sainatham? For the sake of

His Bhaktas Baba spoke such words, as the Goddness of Speech dare not

utter. Here is a specimen. Baba spoke very humbly as follows:- "Slave

of slaves I am your debtor, I am satisfied at your darshan. It is a

great favor that I saw your feet. I am an insect in your excreta. I

consider myself blessed thereby". What humility is this? If anybody

would think that by publishing this, any disrespect is shown to Sai,

we beg His pardon and to atone for this we sing and chant Baba's name.

Sai Ram. Baba was demonstrating the Abheda Bhava or mirroring here. He

puts Himself in His devotee?s position and says things, which a

devotee is expected to say. Thus showing his utter egolessness. And

His oneness with all beings, including ourselves and the insects in

side our intestines.

Yours truly,

SV Swamy

8.QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

"Shashi": shashi_31

41. Baba advised Nana Saheb - If anyone begs of you anything, if that

be in your hand and if you can grant the request or get it granted, do

so. Do not say ?NO?. If you have nothing to give, don?t mock or

ridicule or get angry with him. If you do not like to part with what

you have, do not say falsely that you have nothing. Decline to give it

in polite terms and say circumstances are causing you inconvenience.

Do not shout or drive them away. Whatever creature that comes to eat,

let that not disturb your mind. By this you get the merit of feeding

lakhs of guests.

42. Baba said to R.S. Dev- What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get.

43. Moving with the good is good. Dussanga is evil and must be avoided.

44. Restrain yourself from forbidden food and drink. Avoid needless

disputes. Avoid falsehood. Have restrain of speech.

45. Enjoyment of marital pleasures is permissible. But be not enslaved

by it. Mukti is impossible for persons addicted to lust. Lust

ruins mental balance and strength or firmness. It affects the

learned also.

46. Desires must be controlled. You must master them and not be their

slave.

47. One?s lust for others wealth will take you down to the lowest level.

48. Baba said to G.G. Narke - whoever is destined to be struck will be

struck.

49. Baba said to K.K Garde, sub-judge, Nagpur- the gifts given with an

impure mind serve no purpose.

50. Baba advised R.B. Purandhare - You must always adhere to truth and

fulfill all the promises you make. Have faith and patience. Then I

will always be with you, wherever you are and at all times.

9. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

Sangeetha Rao, USA

I am now settled in the US, I have a 6 month old son who

was admitted in the hospital when he was 3 weeks old, he suffers from

reflux, which means that his milk would not get digested properly in

fact he would throw up almost everything. We could not lay him flat on

his back and had to burp him for half an hour after every feed. I was

very worried and had to find him a babysitter since I had to go back

to work in 2 months. My parents and I are staunch believers of Baba

and have experienced many miracles, we prayed to Baba to help us find

someone who will take care of our baby, We called all the people we

knew finally we got a call from an aunt she knew of a lady who had a

daycare at home, we went to visit this lady and what did we see, a

life size picture of Sai Baba as soon as we walked into her house.

WHAT A MIRACLE. We had tears rolling down our eyes we could not

believe this miracle. I did not ask her any questions just had faith

seeing Baba. On the first day when I went to drop my son I saw that

his crib was under Baba's picture. If this is not a miracle what is.

Firstly we are so far away from home, then we find someone who truly

believes in Baba to take care of our baby. She sings bhajans for him

everyday. Baba thank you for being there for me and my son. Shri

Sachidanand Sai Nath Maharaj Ki Jai.

Surya Prasad Bahrain

Dear SAI Brothers and Sisters

I want to share one of the latest miracles of Shri Sai Baba which

happened today.

I had to take my son for a medical appointment at the hospital at

10am.Yesterday we all had been to Durga Poojaa celebrations and

returned quite late and because of that we all got up late. But after

lot of calculations in my mind I decided to do Sai pooja including

Kakad arti knowing well that I will not be able to reach the hospital

in time which is 15 miles from the place where I stay and that too

when I dont have a car and had to depend on local transport like local

buses/local trains. All brothers and sisters who are living in the

Western world would very well agree that the importance of punctuality

of time is something which is very well followed. I did all the

requisite pooja and took the bus at 9:45am. I reached the hospital at

10:15am and to my utter surprise instead of me feeling sorry for the

delay from my end the attending nurse at the reception was sorry for

me as that day because of some reason the doctors in particular to the

section where I was supposed to get my son checked, were all late by

an hour. DO YOU ALL THINK IT AS A COMMOM OR RARE PHENEMENON? This

simple happening suggests that Sai Baba will never let you down one

has just to find Him and trust Him fom the inner core AND for that the

inner core has to be clear.

Jai Sai Ram

10. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg

Smt. MadhuGopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with

children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting

Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. I have told you 24

stories during the year 2003. Baba told before He took His Maha

Samadhi that He is Muralidhar and would like to play in Booty Wada

(Samadhi Mandir) with His devotees. So I started Krishna Leelas with

effect from the first issue of New Year 2004. Study well and learn

good manners. Tell your parents to read the Glory of Shirdi Sai -

Fortnightly E-magazine and narrate Krishna Leelas from this magazine.

KRISHNA AND BALARAM:

Vasudev had another son through his second wife Rohini. As he feared

that she was in danger he had left her in Nand?s care. Nand took great

care of both Krishna and Balaram and they were growing under his

loving care. It was Vasudev?s wish that the Guru of the Yadavas sage

Garga be called to perform the naming ceremony of the boys. The

ceremony took place secretly in a cowshed as Nand had fear from Kansa.

Garga rishi came under and performed the ceremony. He said that the

elder one be called Balaram because of his strength, handsomeness and

virtues. The younger one shall be known as Krishna meaning the dark

one. He also has several other names as per his forms, which he will

take. Garga rishi then blessed both of them and left.

Soon both Balaram and Krishna were crawling on the floor. Their pranks

both delighted and exhausted Yashoda. Once she left Krishna sleeping

on a cot. She only left the place for a few moments but meanwhile

Krishna started flailing his arms and legs and in the process upturned

a cart full of butter and ghee, which lay near the cot.

The butter fell on the ground and also on his body. He was all smeared

with butter and ghee. Hearing the loud clutter Yashoda rushed to the

place only to find little Krishna licking butter from the broken pot.

Yashoda could hardly stop her laughter.

Of the two brothers Krishna was more mischievous. He could always find

new ways to amuse himself. Balaram always remained with him so that he

could help him and also keep an eye on Krishna. They together used to

go in the cowshed and pull tails of calves. They would steal butter

from the pots of gopis who would come to meet Yashoda. When Krishan

was able to walk he became more naughty. He would toddle around the

whole house and even reach the houses of neighbours. He would break

their earthen pots and eat their butter and other eatables. Krishna

and other cowherds would then spray all the butter and ghee around and

give it monkeys and dogs. Whenever the gopis caught him he would rush

to Yashoda and hide his face in her lap. When the gopis came to

complain to Yashoda he would innocently deny all charges and promise

to the gopis never to do any mischief again. And the gopis used to

forgive him by hugging and kissing him. But within moments he was back

with his mischief.

One day Balaram and other children came running to Yashoda and

complained that Krishna had eaten handfuls of mud, Yashoda rushed

outside and started asking Krishna if he had eaten mud. Krishna

innocently shook his head. Then Yashoda asked him to open his mouth.

When Krishna opened his mouth Yashoda could not believe her eyes as

she saw the entire universe in his mouth. The complete solar system

complete with sun, planets and satellites was there. She at once

realized that she stood before Lord Vishnu who is the creator of this

universe. She prayed with folded hands and said that she felt blessed

with this divine vision. Then Lord Vishnu erased this scene with her

Maya from the memory of Yashoda. She was once again busy with his

naughty son. She picked him up and went inside the house.

Pujya Sri Acharya Ekkirala Bharadwaja Masterji:

Master Ekkirala Bharadwaja was born in 1938 to Sri Ekkirala

Ananthacharya and Venkata Lakshmi in the small township of Bapatla in

Andhra Pradesh. His father was highly learned in the ancient Hindu

Scriptures ? the Vedas and the Shastras.

One of his nephew passed away. ?The initial heartbreak had left and,

in its wake, several fundamental questions arose in me: ?Is there a

Supreme Spirit? What is its nature? How can we contact it? What is

life? What is death? Is there a soul? Why hasn?t man found a way out

of death? What is time?? and such others. The search went on unanswered??

In 1959, Acharyaji completed his post-graduation in English

Literature. He began working as a Lecturer in English and appeared for

the rigorous Indian Administrative Services exam in 1961. The

following year, he was declared selected and sent an appointment

letter. Much in the vein of prince Siddhartha who gave up a life of

power and wealth and later became known as Lord Buddha, Acharyaji also

turned down the offer.

Masterji became ?converted? after a profound spiritual experience at

the Samadhi Mandir of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi (9th February 1963,

Shirdi is in Maharashtra, India).

When Pujya Masterji was working as an English Lecturer in Vidyanagar

(Neloore Dist., A.P., India), a student started criticizing Masterjji

for adoring a human being like Sai Baba. A discussion ensued which

went on for days and drew large numbers of students to participate in

it. Out of these a small group took shape and decided to have weekly

Satsang (devotional or spiritual gathering) on Thursdays for Bhajan.

Many such groups sprung up at several places and Pujya Acharyaji began

to travel extensively to spread the message of Baba. All the devotees

came together and decided to set up the Sai Baba Mission (now Sri

Master Universal Sai Trust) to propagate Baba?s teachings and furnish

the materials for the same.

Pujya Masterji entered matrimony with respected Smt. Alivelu

MangaThayaru (fondly known to us as Ammagaru) on March 6th 1975.

After 1981, Pujya Acharyaji resigned his job and devoted himself full

time to intensive research into the lives and teachings of several

saints, traveling extensively and personally contacting many of them.

He studied in depth seven branches of science and five of the major

religions of the world (Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity and

Taoism). In 1983 began the fortnightly magazine ?SAI BABA?.

By now he was father of a daughter and son. His dynamic life of

spiritual ministration continued undisturbed despite a host of

domestic troubles.

He used his personal funds to educate many young students with no

means and for many other social purposes. Great stalwarts such as Paul

Reps (Seattle, USA) have also testified as to how reading the life and

teachings of Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi have enabled them to understand

the God all the better.

Pujya Masterji?s life and work cannot be summed up. What distinguishes

him? His work was not for himself, not just for those around him but

is for all the coming generations. Masterji was a realized soul.

Masterji's life sets an example for us. His life showed that

Realization neither elevates nor eliminates us from the world, but

establishes one in fullness, which is evident in all that he did.

To the everlasting grief of his followers, admirers and devotees, the

magnificent saga of Pujya Acharyaji?s earthly existence came to an end

in 1989. Though he has left his mortal frame, even now He responds to

the call of the devotees.

It is now nearly fifteen years since our beloved Pujya Acharya

Ekkirala Bharadwaja Masterji attained Mahasamadhi (April 12th, 1989);

years in which we have often felt his absence in flesh and blood and

yet have been immensely assured, of his response whenever called to,

of his sure but remote guidance of our lives. Devotees acquainted with

Pujya Acharyaji during his lifetime or through his books would know

the story of Pujya Acharyaji?s spiritual quest for truth.

the Only Business of Life?

SAI NAMAPATHY ? A RELIABLE MEDICINE

Baba assured us ?If a man utters My name with love, I shall fulfill

all his wishes, increase his devotion? in Sri Sai Satcharitra, Ch.III.

Most of Sai devotees are very familiar with the book titled ?Ambrosia

in Shirdi? published by Smt.Vinni Chitluri. She had narrated how her

mother was cured by Baba, through HH Pujyasri B V Narasimha Swamiji.

In 1949 he along with his father and sick mother met HH Pujyasri

Narasimha Swamiji at Sri Nagasai Mandir at Coimbatore, Swamiji

administered nama japa ?Achuta, Anantha, Govinda? along with Baba?s

Udhi to cure her mother. After 21 days of repetition of divine name

and drinking Udhi with water, she got complete recovery. Later his

father went to Chennai to thank Swamiji for his divine help, Swamiji

politely said, ? I have done nothing, it is Baba?s Udhi and grace,

that has worked. So thank Him and pray to Him?

>From this it is very clear that our real doctor is only Lord Sainath.

Lord Dhanvantari, the physician of the three worlds (who expounded the

ayurvedic medical science), has himself declared: "By the medicine of

the repetition of the names, ?Achyuta, Ananta, Govinda,? all diseases

are cured - this is my definite and honest declaration."

You can take this medicine or nama-japa (repetition of God's name)

yourself, for curing any disease. You can administer this marvellous

medicine to other patients also in your house or elsewhere. Sit by the

side of the patient and repeat, with sincere devotion and faith, the

name of the Lord, like Sai Ram, Hari Om, Sri Ram, Om Namahsivaya, and

sing his names also: "Om Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai" Pray for his mercy

and grace. All maladies and agonies will come to an end.

Do the treatment of nama-japa for at least two hours in the morning

and evening. You will find the miraculous effect within a short time.

When allopathy, homeopathy, chromopathy, naturopathy, ayurvedapathy

and all other 'pathies' fail to cure a disease, the divine namapathy

alone can save you. Both the doctor and the patient should have

perfect faith in the Lord's name, his mercy and grace.

There is a mysterious power in the name. There is an inscrutable

shakti (power) in God's name! All the divine potencies are hidden in

the Lord's name. When you repeat the Lord's name you must evince

unflinching devotion from the bottom of your heart devotion to God,

without love for any other object.

You must drive off all worldly thoughts from your mind. Fill the mind

with thoughts of God and God alone. You must struggle. You must exert

hard. Remain absorbed in him.

Constant repetition of the mantra with faith, devotion, purity and

one-pointed mind awakens the dynamic consciousness of the mantra,

latent in the mantra, and bestows perfection or psychic power inherent

in the mantra on the aspirant - illumination, freedom, peace, eternal

bliss and immortality. The repetition of the mantra again and again

generates a great spiritual force and momentum and intensifies the

spiritual samskaras or impressions.

More importantly the divine nama japa will eradicate the disease of

birth and death and bestow on you moksha, liberation or immortality.

Let us continue our Sai Nama Japa Mantra without an end.

Om Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai.

SaiRam!

I visited www.saidarbar.org today evening, and read few sections

there. The sections which touched me most were "Sai Philosphy" and the

pictures of Sai Baba in "Sai in Camera". I humbly seek your blessings

to offer any service I can do to Sai Darbar.

With due regards,

Praveen
