SRI SATHYA SAI VEDA PRATISHTAN

http://www.vedamu.org/

The website www.vedamu.org is primarily designed to give Vedic

literature in its entirety as available in India. Initially, it

presents the text of eight Veda Sakhas with its Bhashya by

Sayanacharya. Each Veda Sakha contains Samhita, Brahmanam,

Aaranyakam and the Upanisads related to it. Besides the Veda sakhas,

it presents the Ayurveda texts in Sanskrit and in English as an

Upaveda. The eight Veda-sakhas, the Ayurveda texts, other Upanisads

and Brahma Sutras presented on the website in Sanskrit are the

following.

RIGVEDA – Saakala Sakha

KRISHNA YAJUR VEDA – Taittiriya Sakha

is being brought into Devanagari script in manuscript. This will be

brought on to the site soon.

Of 1131 Veda-sakhas available in the country during the time of

digit are available today.

Several works in Sanskrit such as Sastras, other Upavedas, Vedangas,

Upa-angas will progressively be added with the objective of making

the site comprehensive of the Vedic literature.

The English translation to the Veda-sakhas and the Upanisads forming

part of the Veda-sakhas stated above is rendered after the Veda-

sakha / Upanisad concerned, connected to the www.hinduwebsite.com

for the benefit of those not knowing Sanskrit. Under `Other

Upanisads', 87 Upanisads are recorded in Sanskrit. The English

rendering of 67 Upanisads, not included under the Veda sakhas, is

connected to Celextel's Spiritual online library. Similarly,

commentary in English against Brahma Sutras by Swami Sivananda, in

Sanskrit but in Telugu script by Adi-Shankara, and in Telugu by

P.Sriramachandrudu is provided.)

A module on Vedic Astrology (Jyotishya) comprising a write-up on

Vedic Astrology, in-box to down-load over 20 pages of astrological

charts and a write-up on Vastu-Sastra is an interesting feature on

the site. Any individual offering the date, time and place of birth

at the appropriate place in the in-box will have a spate of

astrological charts according to the Vedic tradition. If the place

of his birth is not listed in the in-box, the visitor may record the

longitude and latitude of the place of his birth along with the time

zone at the appropriate place. He will have the entire data of his

horoscope which is not so far available elsewhere. It is open to the

individual seekers irrespective of race, religion, region, etc to

interact with the scholars of Sri Sathya Sai Veda Pratishtan for any

advice, views and guidance in any matters connected with

astrological predictions for the future, fixing of auspicious times

(muhurtams) for future activity, alliances for matrimony, business

deals, etc, and also in matters related to Vastu. Vedic Astrology is

highly scientific, and the predictions are as exact and correct as

the data is exact and correct.

The site has a module on Ayurveda Applications. Besides a brief

account of the role of Ayurveda in health care, preventive and

curative, on view is a broad spectrum of disease and ailment

specific treatment with Ayurveda medicines produced and supplied by

the leading Ayurveda pharmacies. It is open to patients as well as

medical consultants to interact with our specialists for advice and

guidance as to treatment of specific diseases / ailments through the

website.

The website presents an introduction to Vedic Mathematics in a book

titled `Vedic Mathematics - Methods' for the benefit of students in

secondary schools around the world. This book has been designed on

the advice of the NCERT, New Delhi. It seeks to present an

integrated approach to learning mathematics with keenness of

observation and inquisitiveness, avoiding the monotony of accepting

theories and working from them mechanically. The logical proof of

the sutras is detailed in algebra, which eliminates the

misconception that the sutras are a jugglery. The explanations

offered make the processes clear to the learners. More volumes of

Vedic Mathematics – Methods which will be of interest to the

students of higher secondary schools in different branches of

Mathematics will be added soon.

The website has a module `Learn Sanskrit' for teaching Sanskrit from

the beginning. In this phase quite a few lessons are provided from

the point of view of spoken Sanskrit, aided with pictorial

presentation, and simple questions and answers for primary

conversation. More lessons will be added gradually for teaching

Sanskrit as a literature from the basics up to the Graduate and the

Post-graduate Degree levels. This module is primarily to enable the

young and the old to learn Sanskrit from the grass-roots level up to

the stage of Post-graduation.

The site has a module for presentation of Vedic Chanting in audio in

different modes. Sri Rudram from Krishna Yajurveda, chapters 1 and 2

of Rigveda in eleven different modes of chanting, Kanda 1 of Krishna

Yajurveda in five modes of chanting, Adhyayas 1, 2 and 3, some

suktas of Sukla Yajurveda – Kanva-sakha and Isavasya Upanisad in

Samhita mode, the Samhita and the Aaranyaka of Raanaayaneeya sakha,

and Adhyayas 1 – 11 relating to Samhita and Aaranyaka in part of

Kouthameeya sakha of Samaveda, Adhyaya 1 of Sounakiya sakha and

Kandas 1 – 15 of Pippalada sakha of Atharvaveda, and Shanti-mantra

are initially available on this site, running into about 100 hours.

More will be added in phases soon progressively. It is our endeavour

to record all Veda-sakhas available in the country in different

modes of chanting on CDs. It may be of interest to know that the

Rigveda (Saakala-sakha) is chanted in eleven different modes which

may get extinct, unless recorded and preserved.

An important feature of the audio module is the presentation of Sri

Sathya Sai Tattvas in the form of 40 Bhajans and 108 Telugu poems in

the voice of the Divine Master Himself. The Bhajans are followed by

devotees while the rendering of the Telugu poems by Bhagavan is

followed by brief translation in English. The audio content runs for

over 5 hours.

On view is a short film titled Creation based on the riks of Rig-

Veda.

`Features' is another module on the site. It carries articles on

Vedic literature, aphorisms and discourses of Bhagavan Sri Sathya

Sai, announcements, news letters, etc that are of interest to the

visitors to the site.

The purpose of the site is primarily to bring the Vedic literature

both in print, manuscript and in chanting to one place with access

to all. Incidentally, there have been several Sanskrit Universities

in India, and, as of now, there is no Veda University as such. It is

our objective and endeavour that this site may, in due course,

convert itself into a Virtual Veda University. A project profile of

the Virtual Veda University is on the module Virtual University.

An interactive facility to the visitors to the site is in place. The

visitors to the site are welcome to seek astrological predictions,

clarifications, elaboration of the contents of the portal for better

understanding, and to make suggestions for further improvements.

Our scholars and experts will consider it a privilege and honour to

be of help to the visitors to the site for clarifying any doubts or

explaining any issues on any of the modules. This is primarily to

enable the lovers of Veda and Sanskrit to learn and thereby attain

to spiritual enlightenment.
