Guest guest Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Om Sai Ram It is always better to chant the ashtothar everyday, however this depends upon our timings. Swami always say that in this Kaliyuga "namasmarana" alone can help us. So there is no rule that (as far as I know) you should do ashtottar only on Thu days. Guest guest Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Sai Ram. Please forgive me if I am wrong but my understanding is that it can be done as per your inner wishes. That means you could do it daily or weekly or on thursdays or on special days...I personally do it whenever I feel like it.....sometimes twice a day or sometimes once in 6 months......just follow your heart. Baba has said there are no specific rules regarding this. God Bless, Madhvi Duty is God, Work is Worship
Guest guest Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I stand by what Madhvi Sai has written. But would like to add, that of all the names of the Lord, any one that appeals you the most should be selected and that should become the mantra to be repeated with every breath. Almost a decade ago, at Prasanthi Swami was giving a discourse, there he was describing some foriegn group who had walked all the way from Bangalore. Swami said that they selected one name from the namavali (108 names) and selected the first name - "Om Sri Sathya Sai Babaya Namah" - and they kept repeating it with every step every breath - Om Sri Sathya Sai Babaya Namah - Om Sri Sathya Sai Babaya Namah - Om Sri Sathya Sai Babaya Namah. They way Swami said this - it stirred my heart as if Swami was directly giving me a mantra. So Be It. I have always constantly remembered to repeat this mantra - whenever I am not otherwise occupied - in any work. This is my silent mantra - I do not move the tongue but the mantra goes on. And it is so pleasing when I go to sleep uttering this mantra and I wake up, in the morning, to become aware that I am still repeating the same mantra. So while you repeat the 108 names daily or weekly or whenever your heart wants - just pick one that is always there with you - for me it is Om Sri Sathya Sai Babaya Namah. Guest guest Report post Posted May 17, 2004 SAIRAM TO ALL As per our dear brother JP'ji by chanting this mantra we gather some strength- like driving your car - instead listening to radio we can chant this mantra- normally we are busy in the mornings- so this way we can fill up our mind with Lord's name. At the end as you reach your place of work we just think and request Swami to guide us in our work. So it is two in one SAIRAM VKV - Jatindar Shad saibabanews Monday, May 17, 2004 6:11 AM [saibabanews] Re: Ashtottar Shatha Namavali Dear Devotees, I stand by what Madhvi Sai has written.
