Re: Digest Number 766

ONS Achintya,

Can you please clarify:

"boy, do I KNOW about Amma as Kali!!! "

Two questions:

1. Have you seen Kali bhava?

2. What is the significance of Amma in Kali form?

Jai Ma,

Ravi>>>>>>

Om Namah Shivaya, Ravi -

No, I haven't seen Kali bhava - I was referring to

the fact that Amma often shreds pieces of my ego from time to

time. ;) Painful and humbling, but good stuff.

That's Kali energy to me.

Blessings,

Achintya

Om Amriteshwaryai Namah

I really love the picture of Amma dancing in Kali

Bhava that Lutz recently posted to the pictures

section. I never had the opportunity to see Mother's

Kali Dance since I first met Her in 1999.

I was wondering if anyone on the list was present

during a Devi Bhava when She manifested this mood. I

have a friend that saw this during Her first visit to

the US in 1987, so it seems that it has happened in

the West before. He said She danced with the sword at

the end of Devi Bhava, although the Vintage Scenes

video shows the dance footage before Devi Bhava.

Any stories or comments would be welcome. Also, does

anyone have any other photos of Amma dancing in Kali

Bhava they could share? They are very powerful to me.

Dear Jami,

I've taken the snap and I've seen many Kali dances in those old days.

She used to dance before the devi Bhava's. Photo's were not allowed

and so only a few shot's exist.

Amma asked me to take a few photo's of her in Devi Bhava and so it

happened that this snap was taken. The dance was very impressive and

in a way scary or strange. A wild display of a certain type of

feminine? power. If she was in the mood she would dance for half an

hour, jumping, jelling, and whirling around. Mother knows why she is

not displaying it anymore. I think few people would like it and many

would be irritated.

I have seen the video footage of Amma dancing and swinging Her sword around,

sticking her tongue out and gnashing her teeth as Kali. I am very much attracted

to Amma in this mood, as it reminds me of Her capacity to release Her devotees

from the clutches of the ego.......

Namah Shivaya

Yes .. its in the video 'Vintage scenes'.. one sees Amma sa Her

true nature- Kali- the Divine Mother's violent burst of energy. Sri

Aurobindo says that of all aspects of the Mother , Kali's love is the

most passionate - She is representative of Sheer Force. Perhaps

Amma's avatar staretd with a bang with a manifestation of Kali, then

She calmed down.

In the bhajan 'Hrim Kali', the bhajan says '

"Adiyil endamma tamara kannnanayi

pinne Kalitan SAKSHAT swarupamayai

Kali Shantamayi lalithambikayayi"...

meaning

"In the beginning my Amma became the Lotus eyed Krishna

then SHE ASSUMED HER REAL NATURE AS KALI

Kali became peaceful, became Lalithambika..."

bala

( i think the Sakshat swarupam can be translated as 'real nature'- i

may be mistaken , but i feel the author of the bhajan is trying to

say that Amma's real nature is Kali).

It's a Quicktime clip. I'm a Mac user and thought

Quicktime was commonly used on Windows systems too.

Let me know if you don't have it, and I'll see about

converting to another format.

You will need quicktime

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

It's about 13 MB, so a high-speed connection would be handy !

Namah Shivaya Divine Siblings,

I love all of your messages so soaked in bliss, so, so, tender and sweet

- the stories of Mother as Kali, and the

stories of being with our Mother in Her beautiful white sari and in Devi

Bhava. It makes me feel so much closer to Her. This is a very good

thing, since this child was unable to see her Mother this tour, despite

many efforts.

I have had the unbelievably good fortune to sit at Mother's feet, to

have Her darshan many, many times, so

I am not too sad.

I never have had Mother Kali's darshan, but I did have Mother's darshan

once in the form of a tiny white spider. It was such a powerfully

amazing experience that it took my breath away and just about knocked me

down! I am terrified of spiders, except daddy long legs and a few

others, and this itty bitty pinhead-sized white form of the Mother swept

me away.

Please keep the stories coming. Mother is more than in my heart, Mother

IS my heart.But your

wonderful stories keep reminding this forgetful child.

Pranams to my brothers and sisters. You are all my Mother - you just

look a little different, that's all! :-) .

Jai, Jai Ma!

Prasadini
