Setting the navel center

I have been doing Nabhi kriya about 1-2 times per week for about a

month. I also do BOF with certain asanas each day. I notice a big

difference in my navel center after the asanas. My navel center is

strong enough that I can feel it without using my hands. However,

it's never on or below the umbilicus. It's always just above and to

the left (less than an inch of center). I know that there is not one

set answer on where the navel center is supposed to be, but from what

I've read, it is usually somewhere between the umbilicus and 2-3

inches below the umbilicus. If my pulse is strong, but the location

is not where I'm reading it is supposed to be, is it still set?

 

I'm assuming that being slightly off center is 'ok' as long as it's

strong and in that general vicinity. But I wanted to double check.

If you look in KY Guidelines I think, for one of the Nabhi Kriyas, it talks

about

ajusting the navel center. How to find the pulse, and center it.

Usually, looking for energy centers on your own body is difficult. The big

pulsing is a major blood vein and it is naturally off to the left at about 2

o'clock if the belly button is a clock where 12 o'clock is toward the head.

Because everyone has that pulse there, I can't imagine that I am supposed to

be looking for that.

 

I think that my problem with this is I am not sure about the physical

sensation that I am looking for when I poke my fingers into my navel. Also,

working on myself is a disadvantage.

 

MSS Gurucharan Singh Fowlis says after doing stretch pose on an empty

stomach, press the finger tips firmly into the spine. You should feel

beating strongly at the center of the belly button. It is an etheric point

between the spine and the front of the body.

 

It does not seem to be the same as the Chinese Tan Dian, or the Japanese

hara which is 2 finger tip lengths below the belly button and toward the

center of the body. Fowlis implies that they are related if not the same.

This is not clear to me.

 

In the Upanishads, it is the cnter of the third or Manipura chakra and the

"stomach"

 

The detailed discussion that has never been completely clear to me is in the

It is set a lot more than if you were doing nothing.

I think there might be different opinions about this. Mine is to just keep

going and see what happens. Observe how the pulse moves or changes or stays

the same. Doing the practice is the most important thing. And then being

with your navel pulse as your center. If your sense of power and

centeredness is transforming then you are on the right path. Everything

evolves over time.

 

Do some navel exercises everyday even if you don't do the whole Kryia.
