Nemaste :)

So many new faces in the last couple of days.....thanks for joining us.

I would like to know a little bit about our group..what everyone would like

to see here?.....what brought you to this list? Have you been actively

involved in Kyoga or want to learn about it? Would you like to see

informative posts? or just ask questions, allowing for a free exchange of

ideas and experience?

I would like to hear about people's experience with kyoga....how you do it,

in what surroundings...music or tapes you use.....what books you found

helpful...anything that will give our members ideas and inspiration. Most

of us are doing this on our own, without any kind of formal instruction.

To introduce myself....I live in a small town east of Toronto, Canada. I

am a healer using my own brand of hands-on and remote healing. I use

Reiki, Therapeutic touch and an inner child process to help people. This

is not a full time occupation....I mainly help people over the Net as I

find my effectiveness is greater using this energy medium. I have

facilitated earth healing meditations for several groups. I am a chakra

teacher and student. I teach an eight week course...with each week

concentrating on each chakra...utilizing meditation, sound, visualization

and journal work to get the lessons across. I got on my path eight years

ago after breaking the L4 flange in my back. I liken my path to a

river....flowing with it where it wants and needs me to go...learning all

sorts of things, keeping what resonates and putting the rest aside just in

case I need it later on :)) Part of my healing process involved kyoga at

the 3HO ashram in Toronto. I can proudly say that today I am healed of

that injury and now the process has gone deeper.

Kyoga taught me to quieten....to be just with me....taught me to expand my

consciousness....taught me to breath...brought all my chakra work into

workable patterns.

So with all that said.....my brain is very pickable. I suppose I would be

great at spiritual trivial pursuit. ::grins::

Please, let's keep this rolling......I want to learn :))

Greetings All, Re: Intro

I'm a 43 year-old male who's recently found himself surviving by being a

computer programmer (never thought I'd be getting around to that in my

40's!). However, my 1st love is things spiritual and the human-potential

movement. I've studied/practiced various paths since my adolescent years.

About 10 years ago I realized that what I was doing "best fit" what's now

called the neo-shamanic movement. I do shamanic journey work in two circles

(one public; one private and more healing focused). I came to practice KY

about three years ago when a friend taught me a set of breathing exercises

he describes as being from the "Seik" tradition. I have long practiced Hatha

yoga and other body/energy work (Chi Gung, Creative Visualization, etc). I

found the KY work greatly increases my energy and helps me to sense energy

movement (most helpful to the shamanic work!). I have just recently started

studies of Reiki and touch-healing.

I would like to continue to share the experiences of working with KY, but

also suggestions on how to practice, too. I was taught the exercises I do

just once, I'm sure (without an instructor) my practice could use fine

tuning!

On behalf of all our rs, may I welcome you to Kundaliniyoga, and

hope that you enjoy your time with us.

Maybe you could tell us a bit more about the exercises you are doing. It is

difficult to advise on such things on-line, but maybe some of our

rs could give you a few pointers to help you with your work. I

would also remind you that there are a lot of links in our bookmarks area,

to many different sites covering KYoga and other topics of interest.

Barbara, I will reply to you offlist as it isn't directly related to our

discussion here, if that is alright with you?

Great!!! I have been talking with Gordon about offering that kind of thing

and it is in the works. I need to re-write my course to have it more in

line with our topic on this mailing list. But as chakras are key to

kundalini and learning how they operate helps with yoga, it shouldn't be

too hard.

If anyone else is interested, please let me know!!!!

The best yoga experience I ever had was doing the exercises out on a pier

in the middle of a peaceful lake early one morning just as the sun was

rising. It was incredible.

Hello Susan,

Thanks for introducing yourself. Here's my introduction. (sorry if my

english is not correct)

I live in the netherlands, europe. I 've been practicing meditation on and

off for about 30 years. I 've always been fascinated by kundalini yoga but

never got round to actually doing it. Mainly because my sufe teachers warned

against it, as being dangerous. I 'm still fascinated and would like to know

more....(dangerous things attract me most)

I've been participating in Project Nature Connect for the last 5 years. It's

a course that teaches you how to reconnect to nature as the source of all

healing. It must be similar to your earth healing background. Project Nature

Connnect is very practical, you're invited to do certain exercises in nature

that have a rebalancing effect and open up your senses in new ways. It's

very inspiring and it helped me to recover from a rollerscate accedent that

caused neck injury.

Which brings me to an important question (probably difficult to answer) I

've had neck surgery , some of the nerves in my neck were permanently

disabled, because they caused a lot of pain. Ever since I wonder whether

this could affect doing meditation and kundalini excercises. Do have any

experience which these things?

Best,

Gert

Dear Susan and BArbara,

It's a great idea to have a chakra course on this list -- I'm all for it!

Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi all,

I'm one of the new ones to this list. I live in McLean, Virginia, and work

out of my home (am a writer/public relations specialist in the field of

education).

I have done Hatha yoga since the late 70's and am currently in teacher

training for Iyengar and Anusara yoga (an 8-month course). I've also

meditated on and off for 20+ years, and am taking Reiki training next

weekend.

A few times in my hatha classes through the years, I've had teachers

introduce a little Kyoga and have found it powerful. I've also been

introduced to the mudras. But I am really a novice, wanting to know how

Kyoga can be integrated into my yoga practice and also how it can help

deepen/strenghten my meditation.

Susan and Barbara mentioned the chakras, and I'm also very much interested

in this. I've been using sound wave therapy for awhile, which is attuned to

the chakras. I've had my chakras read. But, like with Kyoga, I don't know

much.

I'm looking forward to learning from, and sharing with, you guys.

Namaste,

Luann
