Guest guest
The reason you need a Guru to achieve moksham is because moksham is equivalent to realization of the Self. The Self is Guru. Therefore, without Guru, there is no Self. The Self is already realized, only the recognition is absent. It is the Guru who allows the ego to recognize, and this is known as Grace. The physical form is not Guru, it is the Guru who is the witness... the saakshi of the atma. It is the Guru who recognizes the Self as the Self. There is no separate "you" apart from Guru who can recognize the Self, because only the Self can recognize the Self. The Self is higher than the mind, so without Guru, the mind cannot recognize the Self. Thus, without knowing who Guru is, recognition of the Self is not possible. This is the real meaning.
