Guest guest
dear friend Actually after death, the soul will be enquired in the ‘Pretaloka’ for ten days and then only he will be sent to hell for his bad deeds and to heaven for the good deeds and to ‘Pitruloka’ for mixed deeds. If the soul has straightly gone to heaven, why his sons are donating cow (Godana), which is meant for crossing the Vaitarini River, which is before the hell? Infact the soul is not enjoying the results of the previous deeds. When the soul leaves this body, it goes to hell and is washed severely like a cloth. The entire dirt goes but a little dirt remains in the soul, which is called as Karma Sesha. The Karma Sesha means again all the qualities of the soul with least intensity. When the soul comes back to this world these qualities are again grown in this atmosphere of earth. The soul again goes to hell for severe wash. Like this the cycle repeats. When the soul comes to this earth from the hell, it does works according to the Karma Sesha only i.e., the previous qualities. In that sense the Karma Sesha is responsible for all the works on this earth. These works again intensify the Karma Sesha. Buddhi (Karma Sesha) produces Karma (action) and Karma intensifies the Buddhi. When the soul comes here there is no result to be enjoyed in this world. A thief was severely beaten in the police station and was left. When the thief comes out of the police station his quality to steal is very very weak. But within a short time due to the association of the other thieves in the world he becomes the original thief and is again beaten in the police station. Therefore when the thief comes out of the police station there is no punishment that remains with him. Similarly when the soul is born there is no punishment that remains with the soul. The only thing that remains with the soul is the Karma Sesha, which is a very weak quality to steal. This Karma Sesha is called Sanchita and is also called as the writing of Brahma on the forehead. This guides the future action of the soul in this world. The birth of the soul is according to the nature of this Karma Sesha only, which is called Prarabdha. The actions in this world produce strength to the Karma Sesha and such strength is called Aagami. All this is related to the souls and the world, which is based on the ignorance and the blind attraction of the family bonds. The Lord has nothing to do with this. The work of the Lord is completely different. The Lord enters this world to uplift the human beings. Such divine work of the Lord is to be recognized and your participation in such work will be related to the Lord. Such participation will give you the Brahma Loka in a completely different divine path called Archiraadi Maarga as told in Gita. For such participation you must first recognize the birth of the Lord in human form. If you do not recognize the Lord in the human form there is no question of participation in His work. Gita says that first the divine birth of the Lord must be recognized and then the divine work for participation (Janma Karmachame Divyam). Except this type of divine work the Lord has no connection with the other deeds of souls as said in Gita (Na Kartrutvam Na Karmaani Lokasya). Thus one should not mix the works of the souls and the work of the Lord. posted by: His servant at the lotus feet of shri datta swami www.universal-spirituality.org Aditya Mukherjee <adimuk wrote: Dear baba ji Which books according to you give most detailed description of the period after death - to - before birth. Dear Aditya, the most authenticated book is Garud-Purana which gives detailed information about soul's journey after death. Autobiography of a Yogi also has a full chapter devoted to different lokas where soul goes after death. Shri Sivananda has also in his book "What Happens to soul after death"..has given a very detailed description about journey after death. One woman in my friend circle had a "Retrun after Death" experience and gave the most authenticated mention of soul's journey after death. In her words " I was ill for a long time...and one day i felt something very strange going to happen. My legs and hands lost power and i was unable to move them at will. MY husband and son were on my side and were talking to me. I felt as if their voices are fading and i could hear their voices echoing many times. Then i noticed that the electric bulbs light was diminishing...i felt afraid...suddenly i felt as if someone has picked me up...and i fly in the air...and suddenly fell down . This happened many times. When I fell down...i noticed my senses came back to body. I was very alert and anxious. I thought I am going to die and was curious to know what will happen. Then I saw a big whirlpool...black and very big before my body. This whirlpool had tremendous sound and was circling at fierce speed. due to its rotation a sort of vaccum was created which sucked me inside it. I felt as if 1000s of hairs on my body were snapped together. It was painful..but for some milliseconds. And suddenly i felt myself very light..and then I was sucked into that whirlpool. As I entered the whirlpool..it was very cold and dark and i started rotating in it as if in a washing machine. Then I lost senses. When I regained my senses i found myself in a moon like place. It was dry and hot and i was uncomfortable there. I tried to move but culd not..i wished i could have gone to some cold place...and suddenly i found myself in a beautiful garden...with roses and cool breeze. Then two clouds whose form was like human came down...picked me up and float towards earth with me...when i reached near earth..i felt as if falling down from roof. And then with a big jerk i entered my body. I wake up and saw my son crying over my apparent death. -- This expanation of NDE was amazing and i tried to fit this into the theories of hinduism and with some technical deviations...i found this to be true. It is very important to discuss life after death...as this will prepare us for our journey beyond life..without any fear or anxiety with love baba

A spiritually progressed jiva may not undergo this ordeal and may open his eyes on the relevant loka (astral plane ) There are seven Positive astral planes and seven negative astral planes, which may be called hell or heaven. Normally Nature do not allow a human to take birth as animal...due to the deep rooted sanskara as human being engraved in the jiva. But where one has very strong negative vrittis or violence, anger, Moha etc...nature finds it suitable to give birth to the jiva in a lower birth and work out his negative vritis...such animals come back to human life after purging is over. Those who have strong bonds for their house, property etc. may reborn immediately as lizards, flies etc. sticking to their property...this is what Purana say baba
Guest guest
Swami Sivanada says in his book "What happens to soul after death" .... At the time of death when the breathing becomes difficult the Jiva or the individual self that is in the body goes out making noises. Just as a cart heavily loaded goes on creaking, so does the Jiva creak while the Prana departs. The Jiva or the individual self has the subtle body as its limiting adjunct. It moves between this and the next world as between the waking and the dream states. It moves from birth to death. While in birth it associates itself with the physical body and the organs, in death it disassociates with them. The departure of the soul is immediately followed by the departure of the vital force. It is presided over by the Supreme self-luminous Atman. It is through the light of the self that the man sits, moves and does his daily duties. The subtle body has the vital force or Prana as its chief constituent. It is revealed by the self-luminous Atman. When the subtle body rises up, the Atman also seems to go with it. Otherwise how can the self, being unified with the Supreme Self, go making noises like a cart? It goes making noises because it is afflicted by the pain as the vital parts are being slashed. Loss of memory is caused as a result of this vital and excruciating pain. He is then put in a helpless state of mind on account of the pangs felt. Therefore, he is unable to adopt the requisite means for his well- being, before that crisis comes. He must be alert in practising the means conducive to that end. He is not able to think of God. In old age, the body becomes thin and emaciated on account of fever and other diseases. When the body is extremely emaciated by fever and other causes, dyspnoea sets in and at this stage the man goes making noises like the overloaded cart. The causes of death are many and indefinite. Man is ever in the jaws of death. Death overtakes him suddenly when he is the least prepared for it. He ever thinks that he will escape death or even if he believes in death to be certain he expects it only at a very distant date. Just as the mango, fig or the fruit of the Peepul tree is detached from its stalk, so does this Infinite being completely detached himself from the parts of the body, again go in the same way that he came to particular bodies, for the unfoldment of his vital force. The self that is identified with the subtle body completely detaches itself from the parts of the body such as the eye, etc. He is not able to preserve the body through the vital force at the time of his departure. Just as he detaches himself from the body and the organs, and enters deep sleep, even so, he detaches himself from this body during death and attaches himself to another. As frequently as man moves from the dreaming to the waking, from the waking to the dream and thence to deep sleep, so frequently does he transmigrate from one body to another. He has transmigrated from many such bodies in the past and will continue to do so in the future as well. He gets his future birth according to his past work, knowledge and so forth. He goes from one body to another, only for the unfoldment of the vital force. It is by this vital force, that he fulfils his object viz., the enjoyment of the fruits of his work. The vital force is only auxiliary to the enjoyment of the fruits of his work and hence the specification: "For the unfoldment of his vital force." The Jiva has adopted the whole universe as his means to the realisation of the fruits of his work and he is going from one body to another to fulfil this object. Therefore the whole universe implied by his work waits for him with the requisite means for the realisation of the fruits of his work made ready. The Satapatha Brahmana says, "A man is born into the body that has been made for him" (VI-ii. 2-27). It is analogous to the case of a man about to return from the dream to the waking state.
