They went to Sravanabelagola, the famous centre for Jainism in Karnataka, a south province in India: Halebidu and Belur, the places of temples known for aritistic values which are known as the jewel boxes of India and to Kukke Subramanya. Sravanabelagola is one of the most important spiritual centers of Jains. There is a massive monolith statue of Bhagawan Bahubali in this pilgrim town. Bhagawan Bahubali has preached the great values such as non-violence, self-control and renunciation. One has to climb around 500 steps to see this statue. Once in 12 years a special program known as Maha Masthabhisheka will be held. This year the Maha Masthabhisheka celebrations started on 22nd Jan. 2006 which will conclude on 19th Feb. 06. The followers of Jainism from all over the world will come to witness this celebration. The President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam inaugurated the Maha Masthabhisheka celebrations on 22nd Jan. 06. Various television channels in different parts of the world will be relaying the Maha Masthabhisheka celebrations and you may have a chance to see this celebration. In Kukke Subramanya, the students performed the rituals in the premises of Sri Subramanya temple. Then they enjoyed swimming in the river Kumara Dhara. Master ji had a tough time to bring them away from the river.
