Dear Sri Mukundan:

The sloka you referred is composed by Sri Kulasekhara Azwar in his work

"Mukundamala".

Ksheera saagara tharanga seekara

Saara thaarakitha chaaru Moorthayae

Bogiboga sayaneeya saayinae

Maadhavaaya madhu vidhvishae namaha

I hope this sloka will make you sleep sound without any bad dreams and

protect you.

dear sriman rajesh,

namaskar.

when u wakeup, u may kindly startur day with reciting krishnashtakam (vasudEva

sutam dEvam..etc.) or haryashtakam where the efficacy of chanting the two

letters hari is beautifully explained.

u may also chant this beautiful sloka:

prAtassmarAmi dadhighOsha vinIta nidram

nidrAvasAna ramaNIya mukhAravindam

unnidra padma nayanam nayanAbhirAmam

hrudyAnavadya vapusham navanIta chOram

meaning:

I remember child krishna in the early morning, who wakes upwith the sound of

churning curd, Who has a lovely face that is just now out of sleep, and whose

two eyes are as beautiful as lotuses that have just now blossomed, I remember

such lovely God, the stealer of butter, in His blemishless thirumEni (as

differnet from a human body wherein mouth smells badlyand particulate matter is

seen in the eyes as we wake up).

Dear friends,

Re: stOtrA-s to be recited "when getting up" please note that our

AndAl-pirAtti too has offered us help in her 'tiruppAvai'.

The practical use of "tiruppAvai" at home is that it is an extremely

handy litany for the SriVaishnavite daily "tiruvAdhAranai" -- the

offer of daily worship to the domestic deity.

(1) When one arises from bed in the morning one chants

the 1st & 29th verses of the "tiruppAvai".

(2) Before throwing opening the "doors" of one's

puja-room one should recite Stanza#22..."anganmAlat-

arasar" and then chant Stanza#16 "nAyakanAy ninra..".

After that the doors of the puja-room or closet can be

opened.

(3)Then the householder will "fan" the deity gently,

set right the divine bed-chamber (a sort of "making up

the bed"), and then taking a leaf of basil ("tulasi")

and placing it as if it were a virtual throne, the

householder will mentally request the Deity to take

his Seat or Throne upon it... At which point he will

chant Stanza#23 "mAri-malai-muzhanjil...".

(4) When the Lord is thus seated the householder will

chant Stanza#24, the 'mangalAsAsanam' of

"anru-ivullagam aLandAy....".

(5) When the householder offers "food" for the Lord,

he will chant Stanza#27 ..."koodArai-vellUm..."

(6)Finally during the "sAtrumorai" at home, the

householder will again sing Stanza29 and 30.

Regards,

dAsan,

Sudarshan

Anantha Pranamams to all Bhagavathas.

I have a small verification inthe third sloka

mentionaed here " karAgrE Vasate..".

The third line,as taught to me in child hood is

different. My learning is "kara moolE Sthithe

GOvindaha" and not "Gowri".

Can anyone clarify?
