It contains number of mantras of deities, gayatri, ganesha, hanuman, and so on there is a long list of mantras and preliminary chapters how to choose mantra and which mantra will benefit a person according to its rasi etc. Regarding Guru Mantra, it is a powerful weapon in the hands of a disciple if he is following the right path and doing the sadhna as per the updesha of his guru. In fact, when one chants Guru Mantra he does not need any mantra to ward off his problems. This mantra works best and is above all the mantras. Because Guru Mantra is a mantra which has the power of his Guru whether guru is alive or not. Regarding your problem of distrubance in concentration for study, I will suggest you to get your horoscope checked because for about four months from January, there is very bad planatry configuration which is affecting all human being and you must have noticed the evil events happening around you and as is visible from the day to day news regarding accidents, deaths, etc. Hope this will suffice. I had a feeling that Param Pujya Guru Dev (even Nikhil) had to go through all the human sufferings once you take human life. (remember that is for the sake of Sishyas). At one stage he got all his mantra knowledge in to one book and given to the publisher with the copy right on it. It contains all that you would want to know about Mantras and Sadhans and how to prepare for the sadhana etc. It is in Hindi and is vailable around Indian book stalls. What happens if we take medicine and do not take precaution advised by the Doctor. Definitely, we will fall ill or some adverse drugs reaction will occur. Yantra is a LOCK and how it is opened and what are the methods to unlock, it is a matter which is taught by the Guru. We have to perform all necessary rituals taught to take the good effect of a yantra.
