dhuup me.n nikalo ghaTaao.n me.n nahaa kar dekho

Nida Fazli

dhuup me.n nikalo ghaTaao.n me.n nahaa kar dekho

zindagii kyaa hai kitaabo.n ko haTaa kar dekho

( go out and face the scourge in the heat of the sun, go out and

bathe in the showers. to learn what life is, remove the books and

raise your glance to embrace the world)

vo sitaaraa hai chamakane do yuu.N hii aa.Nkho.n me.n

kyaa zaruurii hai use jism banaakar dekho

(that star in the eyes, that stirring gaze, is it necessary to

perceive the body that beholds those eyes)

pattharo.n me.n bhii zubaa.N hotii hai dil hote hai.n

apane ghar kii dar-o-diivaar sajaa kar dekho

(if you can feel it, then even stones emote, stones also whisper

decorate the walls in your home to feel their smiles)

faasalaa nazaro.n kaa dhokaa bhii to ho sakataa hai

vo mile yaa na mile haath ba.Daa kar dekho

(the distance between eyes can also be a mirage,

whether or not you get her have the courage to extend your hand)

i recently read some where that saraswati literally means one who

makes you realize the saar (essence) of self (swa). while i have a

minor objection to the difference between saara and sara in sanskrit,

it seems to be a neat definition. none the less, i perceived her and

still do as the one full of ras before anything else. have been

thinking about it. She is the giver of all arts. what is art? art is

undulated experession of emotion. emotion that finds expression in

creation without your intellect, your wisdom coming in between. a

bit of your soul flows out in colour when you paint, in pose when

you dance, in melody when you sing. this is the only secret behind

being an artist. indeed those are very unfortunate people who treat

art as an object to rationalization and bad artists too. you should

be able to feel what is right without logically arriving at the

conclusion. even to appreciate art you have to be able to understand

moods and feelings. you have to be able to perceive. in the process

slowly you come to face to face with parts of yourself you never

knew. And then saar of swa gradually unfolds to you. so perhaps when

you are showered with ras, saar of swa also unveils to you.

yes, yes she is the giver of intellect and wisdom too. but then what

is more important? no saar of swa for me which is not saras first.

ok enough peotry, back to the beautiful world of reason
