soch samajhavaalo.n ko tho.Dii naadaanii de maulaa

(Two and two do not always add up to a four in this world. To these

thinkers and intelligent people here give some naivity and

innocence, o maula)

phir roshan kar zahar kaa pyaalaa chamakaa naii saliibe.n

jhuuTho.n kii duniyaa me.n sach ko taabaanii de maulaa

(beautiful. Give again the poison filled drink (that meera drank) and

shine with your grace again the crosses –saleeben (which jesus

carried). In this world of deceit and cunning, give protection to

truth once again, o maula)

[saliibe.n=Christian cross; taabaanii - brightness]

phir muurat se baahar aakar chaaro.n or bikhar jaa

phir ma.ndir ko koii miiraa diivaanii de maulaa

(very beautiful. Come out of the statue once again, and spread around

again in everything and all four directions. Once again give your

temple the grace of love maddened meera, o maula)

jiinevaalo.n ko marane kii aasaanii de maulaa

(When the world is under your protection, why should people be

thirsty of each other's blood. Make death easier by your grace in

this world for those who are alive , o maula)

kabhii kabhii yuu.N bhii hamane apane dil ko bahalaayaa hai

jin baato.n ko Khud nahii.n samajhe auro.n ko samajhaayaa hai

(some times I have indulged my heart in such ways that, I have vainly

tried to pass wisdom to others that I myself lack)

hamase puuchho izzat vaalo.n kii izzat kaa haal kabhii

hamane bhii is shahar me.n rah kar tho.Daa naam kamaayaa hai

(ask me the truth about the honor of the honorable, o sire, I too

have earned some renown during my stay in this town)

usase bichha.De baraso.n biite lekin aaj na jaane kyo.n

aa.Ngan me.n haste bachcho.n ko bevajah dhamkaayaa hai

(its been ages since I last saw her, but God knows why, on seeing

kids laughing in my yard, I found myself scolding them for no

apparent reason.)

koii milaa to haath milaayaa kahii.n gae to baate.n kii

ghar se baahar jab bhii nikale din bhar bhoj uThaayaa hai

(whoever I met I shook hands, wherever I went I made pleasant talk,

whenever I left my home I carried a burden all through the day)

there was once a sher i read in guruji's pravachan i like very much

hai chand abhi baaki aur baaki hai sharaab

aur baaki hain tere mere darmiyaan abhi senkro hisaab

(not translating, sorry)
