Guest guest Report post Posted May 30, 2001 Jai Gurudev. I guess that anusthaan is normally for 1.25 lakh mantra japa (1250 rosary rounds) at least. Of course, u may do it for 21 lakh, or 1 crore etc. Anusthaan sud be completed in 21 days. hawan is yagya, lighting holy fire, and offering oblations (aahutis) of particular material along with ghee. The material is specific for Sadhana. eg. flowers for apsara, black pepper for Goddess Kali etc. Havan is done for 1 tenth of mantras chanted i.e. u sud offer 12500 aahutis for 1.25 lakh mantra japa. U sud chant swaahaa after the Mantra. The mantra sud be chanted for each aahuti. I think that u sud buy and read "Sarv Siddhi Pradayak Yagya Vidhaan" book as advised by Anuragji. This book contains all details on performing havan. Tarpan is done for 1/10th of havan; and marzan is done for further 1/10th of tarpan. I aint very clear about these two, so I wont misguide u! i read somewhere that u r allowed to chant 12500 additional mantra japas in lieu of havan. However, it is far better to perform havan if u can. Shrivastav uncle and others always advice to perform havan. u sud do the substitute only in case of exceptional circumstances. Note : For non-Indian readers, lakh and crore are Indian units of measure. 1 Lakh is equivalent to 1 hundred thousand; and 1 crore is equivalent to 10 million btw, Sanjay, did u manage to contact Siddhashram , Delhi for the rosary-holding-process. Can you please details the Gurudham's advice for general benefit of all of us. If you cannot do so in 1 sitting, you are allowed to take a short break. and this is confirmed from gurudham. And forget about tarpan + marjan. If not being able to perform havan due to monetary constraints (you told me that)is a worry for you, do not worry what people with means do and believe. Have you noticed that there are poorer people from remote places who have just taken 1 or 2 dikshsas, and get divine experiences as well as success in their undertakings, whereas richer ones just feel pleased counting the number of dikshas they have and keep planning for more and more and more, believing that they can purchase divine grace. Look, i have a minor thing to say. We all want to do things right, and worry a lot about the procedure and details, as we want fast results. which is not bad, but the more important thing is faith devotion, and will power. Once a Gurubhai/close friend at delhi Gurudham told me something and i want to repeat it to you. "man se kari hui 11 mala bhi anushthan se jyada asar kar sakti hai- sab tumhare ke karne par hai. " therefore do things to the best of your capacity with devotion, and in the end remember to ask Guruji for forgiveness. Even if you are making some mistakes unknowingly there will be no "dosh" in it. i have an offer for you, dear brother. i may make a short visit to delhi next month end. N when things happened they happened just out of a simple prayer. N i don't think i ever have been successful in chanting the mantra the right way. It were tears in devotion n sincerity that made things happen. its not to say that we shouldn't be going for the right way to chanting mantra or worship but that its is feelings that is at the core of whole matter.
