Majority decides to go ahead with current plans of webspace. Limit to

4. Proposed Sections. The data for this NEW site will be picked up

from postings into

this () discussion group. The preamble of this site is- "This

site would work as a filter and prevent siddhashram.org from being

jam packed with junk.

The currently proposed sections for the NEW site are the following:

a. "My Experiences with Gurudev". (how did I meet Gurudev,

benefits/effects in my life, plus containing stuff similar to "We

have witnessed Divinity" from Sadhaks posting into

discussion group)

b. "Sadhna Camp from a Sadhak's perspective" (experience of Sadhaks

about what they saw in shivir(sadhna camp), how shivir is conducted,

arrangement of food & lodging in shivir, how many people attended

etc. etc.)

c. "Divine Experiences in Sadhana" ( might get very,very few

responses due to restriction on telling others about Sadhana

expereinces)

d. Summary of main postings on discussion group

e. "Comments/Analysis of various books".

f. Collection of additions to FAQ and glossary sections. Graphical

content in FAQ ( This

will be periodically submitted to Gurudham. Once they upload

authentic answers to official FAQ & glossary , then this section will

be cleared/reset). graphical display of Asanas, prannayam, nyaas,

"how to tie a dhoti" etc. other entries are "ideal time to perform

sadhana", " best time to get up". (from birendraji + anurag + arvind

+ Ashishji)

g. Comments/description about various audio cassettes

h. articles on meditation, spirituality, traatak, kundalini,

yogic_asana, mantra pronunciation etc. etc. from Sadhak's

6. update from Ashishji (man@work !) on 3/4 -

 

I've got my hand dirty with code. The new website would be driven by

XML and ASP. I also considered using an access db for faster query

based searching, but due to the proposed hugeness, I decided to make

it using XML. Technically, there would be two sections: (a) Public

(b) Author

 

(a) Public:

This is what the world would see. It would contain:

1. Headlines of latest stuff from every section (yet to be decided).

2. Briefs from current section linked to complete article/post.

3. Glossaries: We would define glossary terms in the Author section

and every article, before getting displayed, would be scanned for

these terms; if found, that term would be linked to it's definition.

 

(b) Author:

This section would be password protected. Everyone, willing to

contribute, would be assigned a username and password. The author,

after logging into his/her account, would be able to post. I am also

working on edit/delete options. The post would then be saved as an

XML file using the FileSystemObject and be shown in the Public

section instantly.

 

As Birendra suggested, the site can span through multiple accounts.

But Brinkster allows only one account per person, so we all have to

create accounts. Arvind, I need a vote on this point too. Are we

going to make a website bigger than 30 megs? Please note, we can't

put audio/video/zip/pdf etc. Brinkster doesn't allow these.
