RESPONSE: PART 1 OF 2 Your wish is granted. The English meanings given are mostly borrowed directly from the translation provided by Swami Satyanada Saraswati of Devi Mandir, and are available as a part of his more comprehensive book, Kali Puja, which you may purchase from the online bookstore of Devi Mandir. These are certainly not the only possible translations of the Names of Kali, but I have found no other version in print or circulating on the Web, and have not had the time yet to at least provide a commentary to accompany each of the Names. For the transliterations, unlike Swamiji, I have abandoned the use of any special characters or diacritical marks, and painstakingly provided a simplified transliteration instead. I have done so because (1) very many people do not understand, and will not take the time to understand, IAST diacriticals, and therefore the use of IAST largely only serves as a complete obstacle to very many people that prevents them from reciting in transliteration rather than translation, and (2) what is considered to be "correct" pronunciation of Sanskrit, varies so widely from region to region right within India, and surely we cannot possibly believe that because of these variations in pronunciation, our Divine Mother is hearing only the prayers of people in one small region of the world (and which one?)! It is devotion, attention, and intention -- and not precise pronunciation -- that are important. We can even recite in translation instead, and Mother still will accept our offering -- it is just only that the Sanskrit transliterations sound so much more beautiful. I have used "ch" for both "c" and "ch", "sh" for any "s" that had either a slash above it or a dot below it, "aa" in place of "a" with a line above it, "ee" in place of "i" with a line above it, "oo" in place of a "u" with a line above it, and also, in all my transliterations you may simply assume that any "h" appearing at the end of a word, would have had a dot below it in IAST, and therefore, you can slightly echo after the "h", its preceding vowel if so desired. That said, I have done a little research on the man posting, Dan Konnor, and have found that his claims of being some sort of official Hindu Priest (a "priest," really now?!) are fabricated by a psychologically disturbed individual. A brief perusal of his online posting will reveal that he is claiming himself a spiritual authority based up direct communication from Kali Ma and that all of his contact with legitimate spiritual organizations is nonexistent. The Washington Kali Temple specifically has repeatedly denied any connection with him and implored him to stop claiming to be a representative. When I asked him a simple question on his youtube channel, he responded with an unnecessary 28-point response which was rambling and wayward and then blocked me. All I asked was if he had any connection with a recognized religious institution. Since he is calling himself "Acharya," a "Rishi" and claiming other grandiose titles for himself, my curiosity was natural. Here is how he concluded his extensive, rambling answer to my simple, logical question: "RESPONSE PART 27: At my own request, two psychiatrists, — one Western, with decades of experience in practice, and being the Head Psychiatrist of the Washington, DC - metropolitan area Amen Clinic and close personal friends with Dr. Daniel Amen, the foremost leader in the field of psychiatry, — and the other, from India, educated in India until coming to the USA to earn her doctoral/medical degree, and widely recognized now, — both thoroughly examined me. RESPONSE PART 28: Both concluded, after lengthy, grueling questioning, along with SPECT brain scans (which brain, by the way, accords me a genius-level IQ of 145, MENSA membership, and in my mundane years, got me a 740 GMAT score, entry to and graduation from a top-ten graduate business school and positions as a corporate executive at two of America's top ten homebuilders), that I have absolutely no signs of schizophrenia. One further stated the medical opinion that at times Kali speaks to me." Why would he even mention possibly having schizophrenia when it had nothing to do with what I asked? I thought this was odd, then began doing more research. It turns out that the Washington Kali Temple disavowed any connection with him. He doesn't represent any established religious organization and all of the titles he claims for himself are not official by any means. This man has delusions of being a type of prophet, world-savior type of figure and is therefore dangerous because he seeks to mislead the unweary. Sadly, although Dan Konnor may have some real knowledge related to Kali, it is very distorted by his psychological pathology. His numerous youtube clips bashing Christianity and propagating misinformation prove that. By his own admission, posted in various forums, Dan Konnor regularly hears voices which is a common sign of schizophrenia.
