Let us first look at kAmAxI. kAme kamanIye axiNI yasyAH | samAsAntaShTach.h | ... bhAskararAya gives 4 different meanings for this nAma in saubhAgya bhAskara. Above is the first one. SHE is called kAmAxI because HER eyes are lovely. kAma indicate kamanIya here. I really did not understand the samAsa rule line, but I guess, it says the name should really be kAmAxiNI, but due to certain rules it is OK to use axI instead of axiNI. I may be wrong.
