Guest guest Report post Posted August 8, 1999 About this YOGA MALA by Patthabi Jois -- do you consider it a useful and/or interesting book? I haven't seen a copy as of yet, and I'm considering making an order.

Has anyone seen Lino's book? If so, what do you think of it?

G. Deveraux's (sp?) book is thoughtfully put together, and has some good explanations of the bhandhas.
Guest guest Report post Posted August 14, 1999 Lino's book isn't as informative as many of the other ashtanga books because there is no commentary and no insight other than the basic rhythm of the breaths. For this reason, I would recommend other books (Birch's book or the upcoming David Swenson book) thought purists might not like them because they aren't "Certified" or traditional. Whatever. I thought Yoga Mala was very interesting and informative. It is worth the order though, in my opinion, the most intersesting parts of Yoga Mala are the discussion of the eight limbs. The description of the practice is good for benefits, etc.
