Guest guest Report post Posted June 15, 1999 The best way to find an apt or house is to begin looking once you've settled into Mysore. Go to your webbrowser and punch in Mysore - there is a very nice website that includes lodging. Here you'll find the Cauvery Hotel. This is where many students stay (approx $5 US a night - simple, clean, hot water). They have an email - so you can reserve a room for your initial arrival. Study with Guruji is approx $450.00 US a month. A house is approx $100 and up depending where, how nice, and how much you're being taken advantage of by the landlord. Food costs are no more than $3-6 per day - and bottled water is readily available. Bring just your essentials as almost all you'll need is available in Mysore at a better cost than outside India. Do bring things like mini-flashlight, padlock, vitamins, nutritional supplements from home. Clothes, books in English, bedding, cookware etc. are abundant and well priced. Travel with Thomas Cook or Amex traveller checks - being robbed en route is common. Lonely Planet Guide to India is helpful for orienting you to Indian customs, history, etc. Studying with Guruji is the greatest, so enjoy ! Maybe we'll see you there.
