Thanks Kochu, for your time and efforts to post my comment. My

browser refused to connect to the net. Had to use alternative method

of reaching the page - through our trusted Kochu. :-)

Vir,

LSN = Lalitha Sahasranama.

If one reads LSN in full form, it is easy to understand that it is a

conversation between HyagrIva and Agasthya.

Poorva Baga (or Baaga for phonetics sake) consists of introduction

to LSN....why the slokas came into being.

Utra Baga describes the benefits of chanting among other things.

Even though Kochu can give a more detailed and of course a better

explanation, as the author of the post, I felt a need to respond to

your query.

SS homepage is in construction. The previous version had LSN in its

full form with its bashyam (Kochu's translation).

Once the homepage comes back in whole, it might be available again.

Or do a search on google for SS and LSN combination. May be there

are cached pages of the earlier version are available.

Thanks Kochu,

I know what you mean :-) though it still hurts. Like kids aptly say "what-ever"

or "chill dude", yeh ! these are kind of "mantras". I wonder if someone would

please translate these two phrases/concepts into Sanskrit to add a ring of

authenticity ! Yeh ! I am serious :-)

But thanks Kochu, really .... thanks

Thank you DP, I should not have asked for it. Greed you know, I must curb this

tendency. My fault. Please my Friend, I am the one who must apologise, I do,

and I am truly sorry for asking for that which I am not prepared for.

Much love,

I cant stop myself from helping someone who needs help, no matter who he/she is.

Also I assume that every one else will/should take all the precautions in using

Already I consider myself responsible for starting this huge argument (at least

My dear Ganpra,

Thank you for the explainations, I was wondering if I would ever know :-(, I do

now :-) Thanks !

I have the LS from the Sri Ramakrishna Math - Swami Tapasyananda and the DM

again from the SRKM and translated by Swami Jagadiswarananda; but thankyou for

being thoughtful in showing where I could read the LS on the net.

May you always be happy,

Sincerely

Dear Vir,

There is nothing to be scared about. Kochu & Ganpra have given you sage advice.

Also, you had mentioned in an earlier post that you were recently initiated into

a mantra. Remember that all you have to do with utmost sincerity is to follow

the instructions of your Guru. Nothing else is required. What is the necessity

of looking for additional mantras?

The mantra that you have been initiated is the one that is right for you. Any

god/goddess can be most powerful as long as you believe in your guru/god/goddess

( one at the same ). You do not have to chase esoteric sanskrit stotras or

mantras to pray for any extra protection. You can pray in the language that is

most comfortable to you. Cry and She will hear you. Make sure you make a

life-long commitment to what your Guru has asked you to do. It definitely is a

lifelong commitment and it is not a quick fix in this age of instant

gratification. You will be guided as you reach higher stages. You do not have

to seek anything additional.

Kochu has given you the best way for your friend to address the matter of

suspected spell. The panchakshari mantra does not require initiation and all

that is required is the appropriate bhava. You may also do a mental recitation

of just the Shiva beej "Hroum". This also does not require initiation and can be

done anywhere. There are 2 schools of thought regarding the necessity of

initiation for Lalita Sahasranama. I will leave that to those who have better

knowledge than I do regarding this subject.

I will include you and your friend in my prayers.

Dearest Kochu,

This is the first time I have heard these - Poorva baga, LSN and Utra baga, and

as they are t do with Devi, I will be very grateful if you could please tell me

the full form of LSN and al;so what are meant by poorva and utra baga.

After reading all these posts on Mantras, I have actually lost my appetite for

all that fancy foot-work, because it appears also to me that this gyan marg has

immense potential to corrupt the mind of the practationer if he or she is not

"purified", leaving them with some "weapons" with with to wreck havoc.

Some of those who post here, as Nora mentioned in response to Tarinis post,

follow the Nath and Aghora paths. These paths fascinated me, specially Aghore

as I liked the devotion for Tara that Vimalnanda showed in the Aghora series, a

too the love for Kali shared by Amarananda Bhairavan in his Kali's Oddiya.

The way I see it is that if one had a physical mentor.guru, then these paths -

Tantra - make sense, else I would say avoid any mantra, be it as simple as Hari

Om, because one then paves the way to open pandora's box; a we have all seen in

these posts, where some compasionate souls have been kind enough to warn us.

I am truly scared. If some advanced "yogis" a yourselves have been dishing out

mantras, albeit with good intentions, and others offer caution, the gyan marg is

truly scary for me.

The only reason I am attracted to Aghora/Tantra/Nath (I dnt know aanything about

the nath trqadition but as it is a part of Tantra mention it), as well as

curious what LSN, etc mean is because I wanted to know my sweet Kaali more. But

now I don't seem to know anything.

I dont know what she has these paths which can supposedly lead one direct to

her, and yet leave it with the potential to loose her completely - or at least

till the pralaya or worse still the Mahapralaya, like playing Russian roulette.

I think it is really mean of her to show love and then take it away !

not want it to be shared so freely?

I apologize to sound patronizing or to speak from a high pedestal, moola

Prayogam to actively engage in conflict is what might be called a "corollary."

Not for everyone to attempt it.

attributed to LSN, the ones which SHE will grant the devotee. One of them is "If
