Guest guest Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Namaskar, This affects Muslims, too and possibly Jews who keep Kosher. I thought it was a hoax at first, but I researched it online and unfortunately it's not. It's so appalling that they would put beef, unmarked, into chicken. I'm just glad I'm a vegetarian. But I hope people make a real fuss about this. The people who are making money from this deception need to know that it really does make a difference to those of us who have faith based diet guidelines. Guest guest Posted May 26, 2003 Report Posted May 26, 2003 what is wrong with Beef ? if you are comfortable with eating chicken / mutton .. what is there in consuming just another life form ? after all all life as we know it is transient ... let us not create another storm in a teacup and get distracted from the quest of the Divine .... she is truly eternal and beyond all these mundane matters , "Phildas Bhakta" <JayaPhilCollins@a...> wrote: > Namaste, > > Those of you eating meat and particulary CHICKEN, could be eating > BEEF and/or pork too, as revealed and exposed by Panorama tonight. > > Dutch chicken processing plants use BEEF and pork protein in > their "cheat cheap " chicken. Guest guest Posted May 26, 2003 Report Posted May 26, 2003 Observant Hindus (even meat-eating ones) take a vow to abstain from beef. The cow is symbolic of Bhumi-Mata, Mother Earth, and one shows respect to cattle to honor the kind, all-giving nature of the planet. It is said that the Gods bless great kings and rulers according to how well they treat their subjects -- humans, of course, but also their cattle. I have drastically reduced my meat consumption since I began studying Hinduism. My choice of beef-eating was curtailled when I developed Gout -- eating beef invariably brings me a painful gout attack. I would most emphatically insist that any food containing beef be plainly labelled, for the continued maintainance of my health! -- Len/ Kalipadma On Mon, 26 May 2003 04:55:29 -0000 "shivaks51" <shivaks51 writes: > what is wrong with Beef ? > if you are comfortable with eating chicken / mutton .. what is there > in consuming just another life form ? after all all life as we know > it is transient ... > let us not create another storm in a teacup and get distracted from > the quest of the Divine .... > she is truly eternal and beyond all these mundane matters > > , "Phildas Bhakta" > <JayaPhilCollins@a...> wrote: > > Namaste, > > > > Those of you eating meat and particulary CHICKEN, could be eating > > BEEF and/or pork too, as revealed and exposed by Panorama tonight. > > > > Dutch chicken processing plants use BEEF and pork protein in > > their "cheat cheap " chicken. > ______________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest Posted May 26, 2003 Report Posted May 26, 2003 Just some personal thoughts : In Bali the Balinese Hindu eat beef and pork. Quote
Guest guest Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 I personaly DO NOT eat ANY animal foods. But I know as fact that many Hindus do eat it, and as the Cow is sacred in our culture, eating beef is worse than eating other animals. I posted this to inform those hindus who do eat chicken and may not realise that they are eating beef by deception. Of course, the ideal is to be a strict vegetarian.
