Dear Vicki,

 

I have the same problem. When I am finished writing something in English, I

am usually so glad to be done with this laborious task that I hardly ever

re-read what I have written. And I can only silently admire from afar the

talented wordsmiths that grace this list.

 

Other foreigners may have felt the same way. In Dickens' "Pickwick Papers"

we read about one such poor soul who enunciates, "Vich I call addin' insult

to injury, as the parrot said ven they not only took him from his native

land, but made him talk the English langwidge arterwards." :-)
