  1. I thought I read somewhere that a portion of coke was Morman owned in Arizaon or Utah. Something about they used to not be permiitted to use caffeine until the coca cola purchase. Anyone know?
  2. Ghee 'oozes' out of Kalki photo TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2002 12:43:24 AM ] CHIKMAGALUR: Thousands thronged the house of a Kalki Bhagavan devotee to witness a 'miracle' — drops of ghee oozing out of the portrait of the Bhagavan. Chandrashekar and his wife Sheela, residents of Vijayapura, claimed that ghee began trickling out of the photograph on Saturday morning. News spread like wild fire and hundreds of people rushed to the house to see the miracle. When their number grew uncontrollable, the police intervened to regulate the mob. When The Times of India paid a visit, and asked the inmates wipe out the ghee to see how fresh ghee begins to ooze out, the devotees refused. Instead, they claimed that ghee and honey oozing out of the photograph, and kumkum falling from it were common happenings. Some youths gathered at the house began raising suspicions about the incident, and questioned its veracity. Sensing trouble, the police pressured the devotee to shift the photo to a temple constructed for Kalki at the Fort area in the city. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/cms.dll/html/uncomp/articleshow?artid=29303534
  3. Lol-that's a good point.

  5. Yes I am talking to myself. I found it: "In this age the propensity for mercy is almost nil. Consequently there is fighting and wars between men and nations. Men do not understand that because they unrescrictedly kill so many animals, they must also be slaughtered like animals in big wars. This is very much evident in the Western countries. In the West, slaughterhouses are maintained without rescriction, and therefore every fifth or tenth year there is a big war in which countless people are slaughtered even more cruelly than the animals. Sometimes during war, soldiers keep their enemies in concentration camps and kill them in very cruel ways. These are reactions brought about by unrestricted animal killing in the slaughterhouse and by the hunters in the forest." Srila Prabhupada
  6. Does anyone have the book "A Higher Taste"? It is kind of a cookbook and it is about a vegetarian diet. I am reasonably sure it used to be distributed at the Krishna Temples in USA. In it is says something to the effect that war is a karmic repercussion of slaughterhouses. That as long as man is cruelly killing animals he will turn upon himself and die painfully in war. I think of it alot when there are wars and would very much like to see the quote again if any have it.
  7. I think its called Parakayapravesh Siddhi. An abilility to enter the body of another whether dead or alive. I was thinking that perhaps it is what happened when Christ raised Lazarus but later it seemed that they were together at the same wedding or some event. Once I heard a Buddhist and a Christian aguing because one siad Christ was better as he could raise the dead. They were going back and forth about problem solving how Christ resolved it and Buddha changed the perception and eased the suffering of death by raising the dead and the Buddhist guy was talking of the story of the woman and the mustard seeds-where he told her to go and get a jar of mustrad seeds from a house that had not known death. At the end of the story she was able to accept death. Anyway, the Acharya leading the retreat said about the Christ raising the dead, "He only had to die again." 8. Thanks so much for the book reference. The history of vegetarianism interests me greatly. Once my friend told me she was not a "Kosher Hindu" (meaning she ate meat). I had to laugh in spite of myself as those are two words you rarely hear in the same sentence. I was thinking after the animal sacrifice in the temple in Christ's day and wondering how they ever got the kids to go to church. Can you imagine? Another interesting parallel is some say Buddha had alot to do with ending the practice of animal sacrifice in India yet it is not a particularly vegetarian religion. I very much like this from Manu: "As far as possible take clean and bloodless foods. It is true that the mental inclinations of the world on the path of persuit is in the direction of flesh foods and spirits and physical loves and lusts; and it may be said that there is no sin in these, especially in regulated forms and for Kshatriya & Shudra. But refraining from them brings High result. Flesh cannot be had without the slaughter of animals and the slaughter of breathing beings does not lead to Heaven. Therefore flesh food should be avoided. The man who has no will to bind and torture and slay innocent living beings, who wishes well to all, shall be blessed with enduring joy. And he who slays none shall acheive what he thinks what he plans what he desires sucessfully and without pain......" What is interesting to me is that is very much appears to be speaking of karmic effects of slaughtering animals. I have an interesting cookbook that I received at the Krishna Temple in Moundsville. There is an interesting theory in it that war is a karmic result of slaughterhouses. Manu also speaks about overeating "..... as it wars against health, against the functioning of the higher miond and therefore against the hope of heaven and the way of the virtuous-it breeds gross passions and is also against the rules of what is seemly and the equitable distribution of food amongst all who inhabit the earth....."
  9. The number has never been agreed upon and is a subject of debate. Mahabharata names 7 & Bhagavata Purana names 22 but then says they are beyond counting. On one level an avatar is one who changes the truth. So you could call Edison an avatar of science. Following is a link on avatars centered around Kalki Avatar http://kalkiavatar.tripod.com . Here is another cool one about a Kalki Temple. It has been closed since it was built. You have to wonder if they opened it if he would come. What is the difference in worshipping a God of the past and a God of the future? On some levels time is similtaneous. http://www.indiaprofile.com/monuments-temples/kalkitemple.htm I think the debate about who is or is not the Kalki avatar is one of those "the proof of the pudding is the pudding" kind of affairs. If someone manages to liberate man from suffering and close Kali Yuga then I guess he is the one. Its not evident that Sai Baba or Muhammed pulled it off-although Sai Baba still has some time. Surely Muhammed did not usher in the Golden Age as for the most part existence is still suffering.
  10. Here is one from Timothy I Chapter lV "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. " I think that the erroneous concept that man is Lord and master of his environment perpetuated by many religions has caused tremendous suffering to the animal kingdom. Still on the other hand in many places of the world in ancient times (& even today) fruits and vegetables were not that available.
  11. There seems no explaination. It very much seems like some negative energy was unleashed on the planet during that time. Although it is a realization of many sages that man & god are dependently arising. If a men are barbians their gods are bound to be not so different.

  13. Last time I was at the Moundsville Palace of Gold it looks like they were scraping the gold from some of the structures. I remember someone saying on a tour once there was 15 pounds of gold on one of the domes. If you have not been there it is pretty amazing. You drive down this bumpy country road, turn a bend and it is like you stumbled into India.
  14. Oh, Sorry. I thought you were speaking like the book Holy Blood Holy Grail that deals with massonic secrets, templer nights and that Christ did not really die on the cross-it was someone else. Not a bad heresy....... I see where you were going with it now. I am thinking of a legend of Shankara were he was trying to win a debate with a householders wife. She asked him what he could possibly know of love. It really upset him as he was considered undefeatable in the debate arena. Anyway he asked he for a month to give the answer. He was a sanyasi so it was a problem for him. What to do? While walking in the forest he came upon the body of a dead king. He had an idea. He left his own body in the care of his disciples and entered the kings body and walked back to the palace. He slept with the queen and learned about love. She was a bit puzzled as he seemed inexperienced & enlightened but figured maybe that was because he had returned from death. She was glad to have him back as were his people so she really did not think much more about the changes in him. There was great celebration & gratitude. The trouble was he stayed a lot longer than expected and his devotees were getting really upset. It is saids his compassion for their cries finally brought him back to his own body. He then went back to the householder's wife and won the debate as now he knew about love. When the queen got wind of it she was really angry and upset and she deemed that all dead bodies must be burned from there on in. Have to wonder if that was the origination of the funeral pyre- Kind of like Paul Harvey says: "And now you know the rest of the story....."
  15. In addition, I am remembering 6th grade Latin correctly the word for left handed was "sinister". Alot of the terms had to do with battle. A left handed swordsman is deadly if one is carrying a shield in the left hand. I think the word "sin" was originally an archers term meaning "to miss the mark' and "hell" was shallow or on top of the ground grave for those with no money for buriel. Gives new meaning to the term "living hell". I am not sure though if sin & hell originated from Latin language.
  16. How did he (the physical body) die then?
  17. Your post is very interesting. I am wondering if any one feels that Sanatana Dharma is a lost or extint religion. I was reading a transcript of a chat with some Australians and an enlightened wowan, Acharya Sri Akshaymati. She was writing about human consciousness and made an interesting statement about Sanatana Dharma. It kind of shocked me at first, but when I considered it, by her definition, it does not seem that evident. Kind of like searching for the remnants of a beautiful woman in an old crone or a bag of bones. Anyway, here was the commentary: Acharya Akshaymatiji: The root cause is the changing times and the disintegration of every individual and the existing civilisation. The ideas and a religious framework of the bygone years have ruled man and it is these ideas that has led people to fight in the name of religion and God. Today, religion has become a concept to people, and it is no more a living experience. Devotee: Each religion seems to create an empire of its own, and is getting possessive, is it the misinterpretation of religion that is causing this or is it the sense of insecurity that is the cause of conflict? How do we solve this for man to be happy? Acharya Akshaymatiji > What I feel is that every person has to experience the teachings of the religions, personally. Once people have a living and feeling touch with spirituality they would no more be narrow minded, but would understand though truth is one, yet people experience the same truth in innumerable ways. Religion must become personal and not second hand knowledge. Devotee > While all religions at their cores advocate love and peace, why is there so much blood shed over religions? Acharya Akshaymatiji > It's true that all religions at their core have love and peace, but the problem is love and peace for people today is a concept and an idea. It is no more a reality. Devote > Namaste Acharyaji....What is the difference between Hindutva and Hinduism? Acharya Akshaymatiji > I don't see any difference. What I feel is that Hinduism is a way of life. The essence of Hinduism is to experience life, every moment with all its bubbling noise and desire. Devotee > How do we win over this hatred, anger and revenge that is there among people, and remove the possessiveness that seems to be causing this conflict? Acharya Akshaymatiji > I would not talk in terms of people. Let us begin with ourselves. The whole problem with man is the ideals, which he and the religions have projected. There's a tremendous conflict between "what is" and "what should be." One should understand that trying to be something other than what you are creates conflict and drains your energy. Sri Kalki says, content is not important. It is awareness and attention that matters. Once you are aware of all the thoughts, feelings and emotions in you, it is the beginning of your journey. The world we see around is the manifestation of the conflict within every individual. Love and peace can exist only when the conflict ceases to exist in every one of us. Devotee > What is Sanatana Dharma? Acharya Akshaymatiji > Sanatana Dharma is the ancient religion which once existed on planet earth. Then religion was to touch, taste, walk and smell . For the ancient people there were never any questions like why, when, how etc. Every moment was an experience and an end in itself. Unfortunately, this Sanatana Dharma no more exists in its true essence."
  18. Definately there are a lot of questions about God. Most have no answers. One unanswerable ? in particular observed by more than one saint, sage, prophet and mystic is, "Lord, why have you forsaken me?" For the most part his will seems quite strange.
  19. I am thinking of the Mastya Avatar, Kurma Avatar, & Varadha Avatar. And stories of Buddha telling of a previous incarnations as a quail (can post it if any are interested). Do you think gods are subject to laws of karma as well? I am thinking a manifestation perhaps is not but an incarnation very much appears to be subject to natural laws such as karma or gravity while on the Earth.
  20. That did not answer my question. Would you consider Krishna to be qualitatively Vishnu as well as Kalki? As for your question I do not know if it is mentioned in scriptures. Perhaps it is infered as many infer that Krihna or Brahman was the "One" in the Vedic hymn of creation (although it very much appears to state that the gods came later). Perhaps it was taken from the following along with the observation that it is not empiracle that previous incarnations of Vishnu have indeed restored righteousness on Earth-particularly in light of the terror situation another poster had just mentioned. Perhaps it would take a total incarnation (sampoorna avatar) to accomplish that: "When the practices taught by the Vedas and the institutes of law, Shall nearly have ceased, and the close of the Kali age shall be nigh, A portion of that Divine Being who exists of his own spiritual nature, In the character of Brahma, and who is the beginning and the end, And who comprehends all things shall descend upon the earth. He will be born as Kalki in the family of an eminent brahmin, Of Sambhala village, endowed with the eight superhuman faculties. By his irresistible might, He will destroy all the barbarians and thieves, And all whose minds are devoted to iniquity. He will then reestablish righteousness upon earth; From Vishnu Purana 4:24 Following is an interesting passage on Sambhala: "The word Kalki is actually an abbreviation of the word Niskalankh. Niskalankh means the same as My name is, which means Nirmala. That it is spotlessly clean. Something that is spotlessly clean is Niskalankh — without any spot marks. Now this Incarnation has been described in many Puranas as will be coming on this Earth on a white horse in a village of Sambhalpur. They call it Sambhalpur. It is very interesting how people take everything so literally. The word Sambhalpur means bhal is the forehead; sambhal means at that state; that means Kalki is situated at your bhal. Bhal is the forehead and here He is going to be born. That is the real meaning of the word Sambhalpur. In between Jesus Christ and His destroying Incarnation of Mahavishnu called as Kalki there is a time given to human beings to rectify themselves, for them to enter into the Kingdom of God, which in the Bible is called as Last Judgment." Shri Kama-Rupini Shri Nirmala Devi Kundalini And Kalki Shakti, Bombay, India — September 28, 1979
  21. Terrorism is nothing new for many parts of the world. STill that talk of God has no priority for some may be a great sign: Thereafter, at the end of Kali-yuga, when there exist no topics on the subject of God, even at the residences of so-called saints and respected gentlemen of the three higher castes, and when the power of government is transferred to the hands of ministers elected from the lowborn sudra class or those less than them, and when nothing is known of the techniques of sacrifice, even by word, at that time the Lord will appear as the Supreme Chastiser. Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 2, Ch. 7 Text 38
  22. I agree with the karma not being 100% personal. You also are affected by national karma, region karma, race karma, family karma etc. I think the Bible refers to something to this effect "The sins of the fathers...." It is alot like when a mirror breaks each piece has the whle picture. Sometimes I wonder about the USA karma-how this country was built by slavery and now most Americans are enslaved by debt. Also on karma & reincarnation, the ancients had an amazing philosophy that kind of ties in with later Buddhist philosphy. It is worth studying vasanas. Somewhere I have an writen document with a beautiful explaination and insights into vasanas by an Acharaya of Kalki Bhagavan. He was a nuclear scientist at one time and the writing reminds me very much of quantum theory. If can find it I will post more however do not want to misquote. How vasanas impact a being was likened to a cosmic flower that only a being can smell and the person will be compelled to keep acting on that vasana. I was thinking how in stories about those that compulsively kill or steal or those who are compulsively generous or good. It also went into how present life likes and aversions are related to future life vasanas.
  23. Quote "And Kalki (the future avatar) will not be Vishnu either. He will be qualitatively Vishnu, ...." Would you say the same could be said of Krishna Avatar? Am asking as Kalki Avatar is also called Sampoorna Avatar.
