  1. I remember when I first posted this. Gauracandra's was the only information I could find anywhere online. I was hoping to find a photo/text source for putting on the dhoti as devotees do in ISKCON.

    Oh well, I'll keep looking.

  2. I wasn't really sure where to post this so it fell here. I have been asked to explain via email how to put on and wear a dhoti. I haven't been able to sufficiently and clearly explain this. Is there a resource on the web that I can refer my friend too? Alternatively, if any of you could explain it please do so. I just can't do it well enough. LOL

    Thanks.

    Hare Krsna!

  3. I found out that the rumor is just that. Kirtananda is still in prison and, therefore, not at New Vrindavan. I know there have been mant attempts to have him released early based on his health, but I don't think he is as ill as they want us to think. I'm sure his health isn't getting better due to his pre-existing physical condition though. I got the info. from one of his still dedicated followers in Moundsville, WV.

  4. One must also understand that the Christian heremeutical principles lead them to a very exclusivist position with reference to the Person of Christ. They believe, based on their exegesis of the Bible, that Christ has made exclusive claims to not only Diety, but the ability to offer slavation to humanity. Any other pathst are simply the "doctrines of demons", and traps set by Satan to mislead people and drag them to hell. They will readily point out to you the words of Christ, "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life, NO man comes to the Father but THROUGH ME." Now, again you're looking at two thousand years of exclusivist hermeneutical principles leading to such conclusions, so its not something given up lightly. Hope this helps.

  5. I had posted the URL for IRM here, but maybe it was taken down because it violated some rule or other. If so, I ask for your forgiveness in posting it. If not, can someone please explain what may have happened?

  6. Stone,

PAMHO. AGTSP. Thank you for your reply. I am honored to be able to have such conversation with such a long standing devotee and disciple of Srila Prabhupada. I look forward to more enlightening conversation from yourself as well as all of the other devotees here.

Thank you all for your replies and patience as I ask these questions.

  7. Is he welcome back at New Vrindavan? I would be really surprised considering he has continued his deviations from his prison cell via his organization. Wow! I would have thought he would be placed under close supervision by the state and made to stay at his organization HQ in NY. Anyone lese hear anything? This is frightening if he is at New Vrindavan.

  8. PAMHO. AGTSP. Thank you both for your reply.Have you read "The Final Order"? It is a very well presented and documented position, thats for sure. I read Prabhupadas last communication on the subject of initiations and it doesn't anywhere state that he appointed anyone as guru, but only as "ritvik" representatives of himself. So it seems to me he did clearly state this. I have also read numerous statements by many esteemed disciples of SP wherein they state that this is indeed what Prabhuapada set up and that the other systems were deviations. Regarding the poison theory, who really knows? I don't, and I've heard all the evidence that exists. I'm not completely convinced either way on the issue. In the final analysis I don't see that it will really amount to much though. Again, prabhus thank you for your responses.

  9. PAMHO. AGTSP.I encourage you to ask those questions to the devotees better qualified to answer than I. I asked much the same thing and recieved quality answers. I encourage you to read "The Final Order" as well. It explains things very nicely. If you don't know how to contact or find IRM on the net please let me know and I will provide the link for you. The IRM was appointed by Prabhupada, since they are the ISKCON that SP established and authorized before he chose to leave the body.

It is my understanding (and belief) that the ISKCON that we see today is not in accord with Prabhupadas wishes, not maintaining the standards he put in place, and therefor not the "true" ISKCON. This is not to say that the devotees are not true devotees, I'm sure there are more who are than aren't, but they have been duped into accepting so many unauthorized and novel approaches that they are mostly unsure of what is correct. Not to mention the younger generation of devotees (those who have entered since 1979) don't really have an understanding for the most part of how SP wanted things to be, or how they had been. The initiations in IRM as I have discovered by my research of their positions will be exactly according to Prabhupadas Final Order for such, and not by any of the dubious methods we have witnessed destroying lives and ruining the preaching. Other than this,Prabhu, I do not really feel qualified to expound upon. So I respectfully ask you to contact IRM, and they can provide you with any of the answers you may need. I do enjoy your conversation too, so I look forward to more.

  10. You're assuming, prabhu. Maybe my previous post misled you. I already have that connection to Prabhupada and thus, to Krsna. However, it has been my fervent desire to take this step for a number of years. It isn't something to be taken lightly, nor trivialized by a simplistic understanding of our connection to Guru. While I do agree with your basic premise I also see that there is a special connection between the initiated disciple and his Guru. And while the ritual itself may just be a formaility, it is one cherished by Prabhupada disciples the world over. I choose to share that special experience.
