    A Question

I was born to a Hindu family. Can some one please explain why God Rama is so great? He fought Ravana just to get his wife back. This is nothing to do with fighting for his country or his people. Ravana never invaded Rama's kingdom. After getting back Sita why did he throw her out suspecting infidelity ? How can he justify this kind of act? Is this way we treat our wives? Where is forgiving? Where is Grace ?. This whole story may not be literal and it could hugely be metaphorical with deeper meaning. Can some expert in this forum explain this? Rama's Dad had 3 wives? and Hindus are critical about Muslims with multiple wives. (According to me monogamy is getting civilized !) What about Krisna? How can He have so many girl friends ? He may have said all kinds of thing in Geeta but He himself did not set an example. How can he be a role model? How do we explain these to our children? Personally I revere Gandhi. I am not sure where He got the idea of non violence (It is not synonym with the word Ahimsa as many people believe.) May be it is Tolstoy's idea. Non violence is to face the enemy boldly and not cowardly but with NO WEAPONS. Does it make sense? I wonder how many times he was beaten up and jailed. Mighty British became powerless and left India. Such thing never happened in Human history before. Gandhi has to be GOD. It is not defeating your enemy, but it is to awaken a sense of shame within the oppresor and challenge his false sense of superiority. The end is reconciliation, redemption and creation of the beloved community. What do you think? I think Gandhi is GOD, not Rama or Krishna................Grace and Love
  2. If I had accused your religion/s, please accept my sincere apologies. It is my understanding Islam claims it is the best religion in the world and that may be the reason some of you have chosen it. I was religious, but may be I am "FOOLISH and IGNORANT" I could not understand the Darma, Karma, Homa,Ten commandments, visnu vs Shiva, Going to Mecca or Kashi things. All these thingies may help learned and intelligent guys like you. My little brain does understand the concept of "Grace". For me it is more than human nature and psychology can explain. It is my strong belief that there has to be a God. It may be He or She or It , Whatever He is, His terrible insistence on human freedom is so absolute he has granted us the power to live as though HE DID NOT EXIST. God is not a superman, batman, Santa Clause, etc. He has no power to rid our diseases, no power to stop a crime, no power to stop Tsunami. It is my imagination that He has traded the power of authority, magics, or some mystery for the human freedom. The religious people, Temples, churches, masjids etc have pushed the Grace of God out and have taken the roles of authority, magic and mystery and calling rest of us as "puppets" with 'strings' attached etc... If there is something such as "GOD", the only way I describe Him or It is Grace. His love for humans is too much and it is insane. All I need to do is to say Thank you in gratitude.
  3. If you were born into a muslim family, it is Ok.Because you may have no choice but to submit to your comfort zone. I do not know much about Islam. As I understand it is "THE ONLY RELIGION" meaning there is absolutely NO FREEDOM. Every thing is according to law. This is very opposite of GRACE. Lack of freedom creates FEAR, not LOVE. In FEAR there is no tolerance, there is no creativity, there is no compassion. People do things like cowards. I know for sure you are scared and you have found some religious leader/s influencing your way of thinking. I pray God gives you the power to open up your heart and seek the understanding of His Grace not some simple Mercy word.
  4. mr.ajit: Neither I got the answers from religious books, hooded swamis or Gurus , catholic priests, Imams etc... I did find the answer in the a novel "Brothers Karamazov" especially in the chapter "Grand Inquisitor" written by Russian author Fyodor Dostoevesky. Now I know why bad things happen to Good people and why Tsunami killed so many people..If you are interested please let me know. Love you KT
