  1. That makes sense to me...thank you very much Guest /images/graemlins/smile.gif Radhe Syam! Wendy
  2. If we are, let's say, originally (for example) a Manjari when we left Krsna's abode, if we take birth into a male body, does our feminine spiritual characturistics show at all. I am thinking in the cases of men who are somewhat effeminent, or women who are somewhat masculine (but not homosexual)? I have met men who felt they were a woman trapped in a man's body...and vice a versa.
  3. First, I am not Srijiva, but his wife. I am using his UserName to post my question. /images/graemlins/smile.gif Does our soul have a gender identification when we finally go back to Godhead? Is our true spiritual identity masculine or feminie in quality ... or perhaps both? I understand we can change genders as we change bodies birth after birth, but I am wondering if we had an original gender that we will return to when we go back to Krsna? Thank you, and Hare Krishna! Wendy
  4. This is just horrible. I was looking online for news of Puri in Orissa. I found this so far, Chennai News Online Report Can JN das tell us how things faired there on Orissa's coast?? What a horrible tragedy /images/graemlins/frown.gif
  5. Hari bol! Does anyone practice themselves or know any devotees adept at Reiki or Vaastu? I am very interested in learning Vaastu. I am under the impression that Vaastu consultaions are sought from home and business owners... Is this anyone's practical experience? I am pretty sensitive to subtle energies and think I would do well with learning Reiki also. I would be interested in corresponding with those who know about this.
  6. My friend in Bangalore sent me this: BANGALORE: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is all set to make an animation serial on Lord Krishna targetting a global television audience. ISKCON has tied up with Bangalore-based animation firm JadooWorks to float a new organisation — Magic Flute — for executing the project. The cost for the venture is estimated to be $ 9 million. ISCKON, Bangalore, vice-president, Chanchalapati Das told eFE, “The story of Krishna has been told through the ages in different forms of art, music, dance and other creative expressions. Animation is a new medium of _expression. We are trying to say the same story in a new medium.” According to Mr Das, the script of the 26-episode serial is in the final stages of completion. “Five-time Emmy Award winner Jeffry Scott is writing the script for the project. We have already identified a Los Angeles-based firm to design the characters,” he said. JadooWorks CEO Rajiv Marwah said, “The serial would evolve around the childhood days of Lord Krishna. We believe animation is the best medium to depict the early days of Lord Krishna.” Mr Das said. Huge mountains and large creatures that are to be part of the story line could be best depicted in the animation form, he added. The executors of the project are now in the process of identifying voice talents. The voice recording is scheduled to be done in Canada. “The first episode of the serial should be ready in four to five months time,” Mr Das said. Mr Marwah said the music for the serial would be provided by a UK-based firm. Mr Das said that the serial would be made simulataneously in English, Hindi, Gujarati and Kannada. “As of now, we do not wish to disclose the equity holdings of both ISCKON and JadooWorks in Magic Flute. But surely we would look at external funding for the project. We have been talking to venture capital firms, and most of them are quite happy about the project,” Mr Das said. He, however, did not disclose the names of the VC firms who have evinced interest in the project. The project, according to its promoters, have already received favourable response from a couple of television channels based in Europe. JadooWorks is an affiliate of vMoksha Technolgies, and was incorporated in May 2001 with a seed fund of $1.2 million. Among the creative directors working for JadooWorks are UK-based writer and columnist Farrukh Dhondy. www.jadooworks.com
  7. I was pleasantly suprised to hear that the GA school board voted and approved the intelligent design theory to be taught as an (healthy) alternative to Darwinism. It is a wonderful step in the right direction! I think Srila Prabhupada would be pleased by this. It prepares tomorrow's youth to then wonder as to whom that intelligent designer might be. Then while they are at the Saturday Market buying turnips someday, they might reconsider getting one those monk's books a look-see. In this CNN ARTICLE an apponent claimed: ..."This supposed victory [by proponents of alternate theories] was shallow, very shallow," said Jeffrey Selman. Selman and other opponents believe the new policy is a step toward introducing religion -- in particular, creationism -- in public schools. "We're going to be watching this very closely."... what are they so a'feared of?
  8. We had the fortune to have Prahladananda Swami give Srimad Bhagavatam class this moring. He touched on what process we should be going thruogh when we chant. first we are learning to actually chant Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare learning to pronounce it correctly and not come up with shortcut mantras of our own. then we learn that we are actually chanting to someone..a person, To Krsna... then we learn that we are chanting to Krishna with love. This is not a direct quote, wish I had recorded it. It blew me away. I usually speed thru my rounds. I am going to try and slow it down abit so I am not chanting hare-shik-shik-a-rama-rama-kitty-here- kitty-here-kitty-kitty-hurry-quick-quick like I fear I might be doing. I read it was suggested a round should take about 7-8 minutes. that is quite abit of a difference from 4 1/2 minutes that it usually takes me.
  9. Hari bol! I have been thinking about this bhajan, and am trying to understand it a little better, as to what Narottama das is saying? Does He lament as to when He can serve deities of Sri Sri Radha Krsna? And why He is praying to the Gopis?
  10. In reading what I could find I think it was a show of markata vairagya (monkey renunciation) to achieve some name and fame & that is why Shrila Gaura Kishore dasa babaji rejected it. I suppose it is better to honestly live a life of a non-renunciant and practice nama bhajana then to dress in a garb of a renunciant and display and show off one's renunciation in different ways to simply achieve name and fame. Would that be more dangerous than even a non-devotee who is in ignorance?
  11. I have been reading a bio of Srila Gaura Kishore das babaji Maharaja and in it it speaks of renunciationalists in a manner much like materialists. It does not go much further into the renunciationalists aside from just general mentioning & that their association should be avoided, etc... I am not getting a clear picture of what they mean by renunciationalist, I mean speculatively I have an idea. I would like hear what explanations you might have to offer. /images/graemlins/smile.gif The part of the bio I am reading that mentions them can be found at: http://www.gosai.com/chaitanya/saranagati/html/guardians/gaura-kisora-bio-3.html and: http://www.gosai.com/chaitanya/saranagati/html/guardians/gaura-kisora-bio-4.html
  12. I don't know if this was made clear, but only 10 states in the USA banned gay marriage. Oregon being one of them. So only the states that got it on their ballot voted on it, 10 states passed it. so the US constitution hasn't been changed, only individual state constitutions. which makes the whole thing confusing. /images/graemlins/confused.gif I think there are FAR more important issues we could be voting on in this country.
  13. I think it is cool. It seems it has been in the works for some time now...
  14. My comment was not that only punk rockers are prone to become Hare Krsnas. It was that their background and experience and dissatisfaction may push them to seek for spiritual solutions. /images/graemlins/smile.gif and this is practicaly true for everyone in Kali Yuga...don't you think? I hope everyone comes back to Krsna. Besides, hardcore, punk, etc... these are just false ego coverings. we are all spirit souls.
  15. Hari bol! I received word from a GBC that Rambhoru Mathaji is receiving support from the GBC and her Godsisters and Godbrothers. The Vrindavan management is urging Prithu prabhu to share proceeds of the sale of the Vrndavana house with her. This is unfortunate. "There are two sides to the story when husband and wife are concerned, and five sides to the story when ISKCON devotees are concerned." (to quote)
