  1. Thank You for your advice. I am deeply thankful, but one fault of mine is that I see everything in black and white. For some reason, I can't bring myself round to do it. If I worship Kali (who I feel close to at the moment) then I feel as though I'm deserting Krishna/Vishnu. If I worship Vishnu, I feel as though I'm deserting Kali. If I worship both, I feel conflicted...... I still don't know what to do......
  2. Hare Krishna I love Lord Jagannath and I wish to serve Him, Baladeva and Subhadra, but I feel that I am not even worthy to look at Him. He is the Lord of Mercy, but I am afraid of offending Him. What should I do? I just can't escape the feeling that whatever I do, I will offend Him... Is there a special prayer I can offer specifically to Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra? Obviously, I will still chant the Maha-Mantra etc but is there one I can offer specifically to Jagannath? Please answer my post as soon as you can.... Thank You...
  3. Hello, I am fond of Ganesha - he is one of my favourite deities but I feel somehow that he doesn't like me. I know this souns naive and it is rather hard to explain properly, but I seem to have offended him. For example, I pray to him but he doesn't seem to want to listen to me. I love Shri Ganesha's character - jovial, intelligent, brave, strong sense of humour (I don't know if these are considered his characteristics but that's how I see him) which is kind of like my personality... (except the brave part) Is there anything that I can do? Pleeaaaassssseeeee help...
  4. Okay, I don't know if i've posted this in the right forum but I put it in because of Ishta Devatas often being calculated by the astrological chart. So anyway. My question is this: Is your Ishta Devata based on personality or birth dates? I ask this because when I think about Ishta Devatas being matched by personality I think I know which mine would be. On the other hand, I saw a calendar on the internet that has every day of the year on it and which deity and the deity that was my Ishta Devata from there was a different deity to the one I would have thought (although, I do quite like the deity from the calendar, and I think I do have some personality traits of that deity). Also, my other question would be: If Ishta Devatas are calculated from birth dates, how would I go about doing that? And another thing, I haven't mentioned the deities in question because I read a quote (although I don't know if it's true) that you should never reveal who your Ishta Devata is. So I haven't mentioned the deities' names. If it's not true, then I'll happily say which deities they were.
  5. Hello everyone, I really want to perform some sort of fast for Lord Vishnu. I don't have the materials to perform the Satyanarayana Vrat Katha and there is nowhere where I can buy them since I live in a small rural area. So I was wondering if it would be sufficient to fast one day a week for several weeks, and on that day, chant something like the Vishnu Sahasranama or the Narayana Kavach and offer prasad. I don't know whether that is sufficient or not, but if it is can I have some advice please? Especially with things like which days, how many weeks etc. Basically things to do with the actual procedure. Thank You for reading this and if you have any advice, please give it to me Thanks again.
  6. Jai Maa and Hare Krishna. I have a question and i thought that this is a great opportunity to ask it. My question is this. I want to be a Krishna devotee. I have been to temples and the Ratha Yatra as well. However, although I desire to be a devotee of Krishna, I have a sort of affinity to Goddess worship, in particular, Durga Maa, Saraswati Maa and Lakshmi Maa. I find it difficult to know what to do. Any advice?
