  1. Haribol, I encourage everyone to see my new photoessay about Srila Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Maharaj's visit to New York City. Go to this address: http://colinjury.com/WorldTour/TourNY.htm I hope that everyone gets a very positive effect from reading the essay and looking at the photographs. YS, Krsnacandra dasa
  2. Even if this plan is cancelled, keep in mind that even Srila Rupa Goswami was not allowed in the Jagannath temple in Puri.
  3. I studied Zarathustranism in a religion class in college. Basically it is dualism, the struggle between the "good God" Ahura Mazda (who basically looks like an old man with wings) and the evil Angra Mainyu (AKA "Ahriman"). But the idea is that good will prevail over evil in the end. They believe the honorable thing to do when dying is to leave your body outside for the vultures to pick at, the final act of generosity or something. I always found that interesting.
  4. http://dailynews./h/ap/20010706/us/hare_krishna_mcdonald_s_1.html According to this link above, McDonald's is going to commit yet another offense. They are opening a cow slaughtering restaurant right next to Dallas ISKCON temple. Now, I don't care what your affiliation is (ISKCON, GM, etc etc), EVERYBODY needs to get on their case and get them to pack their cow slaughtering instruments and find another place to set up shop. I encourage each and every one of you to write an e-mail to the City of Dallas Plan Commission, and tell them that having McDonald's next to the Krishna temple is akin to having a neo-nazi chapter set up camp next to a Jewish synagogue. I hope I can count on each and every one of you to write to them. The council is going to vote on thursday. Write your letter to them by the day before at least. 6. Hey, everyone. I just wanted to say, I think this bickering is pointless. Maybe the New Dwarka community is too loose. I'm not sure. I only visited there for one week, and they were kind of hostile toward me and my friends, and we are disciples of Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaj. That's all I can say. The important point of Bhutabhavana Prabhu's post is, McDonald's sees fit to move their restaurant next to a temple where people worship God, and are very much against cow killing. This is akin to having a neo-nazi group set up shop next to a Jewish Synagogue. If people don't start protesting this ASAP, organizations like McDonald's and the City of Dallas will see Krishna devotees as pushovers, and take advantage of them in any way they can. Look, I certainly have no love for ISKCON. But regarding certain matters we should have a certain level of unity and speak out against blatant wrongs. Perhaps nobody will speak up against what's happening in Dallas, and only because the devotees are ISKCON. But what happens next week when they open McDonald's (Krsna forbid) next to *YOUR* faction's temple. Then what? Is that when you stand up to the bad hand that's been dealt to you?
  7. Maitreya: I just noticed that. I hope you saved your letter on Notepad. I don't think it's a conspiracy, I just think it's due to shoddy web designing. I tried getting in touch with Dallas Mayor Kirk and got the same result. But I just faxed letters to the Mayor and Plan Commission 10 minutes ago. Let me give you those addresses now: Mayor Ron Kirk City of Dallas 1500 Marilla Street, Room 5EN Dallas, TX 75201-6390 Phone: 214 670 0773 Fax: 214 670 0646 Also: City Plan Commission Fax: 214-670-4210 Hope this has helped, YS Krsnacandra dasa
