  1. We really only have one side of the story. We don't know for sure what happened beyond someone was shot and killed. The evidence given is only from the friends of the dead person. Most killings are done by people who know you. What better way to mislead police than to say someone shot their friend because he was throwing tomatoes at passing cars. It is much more likely their friend was shot by someone he knew and misdirection is in process. In any event it is sad. dzimmerm
  2. You sound like the impatient person asking God for patience, right now! I am not trying to be nasty. You sound like you would like enlightenment in as short a time as possible. Perhaps you are enlightened already and you just have to spend years or decades before you gain the wisdom to understand you are already enlightened? Your wish to be enlightened is the very best place to start from. There are many whose main form of enlightenment comes from the words, "Pull tab to open". dzimmerm
  3. I can not answer your question given the restraints you have placed on potential answers. I have experienced some kind of spirtual force but I would not want to guess as to what it was or what its overall effects could be. I tend to be fairly skeptical and so I tend to doubt things that are purely subjective. God would have to prove itself to me with non subjective actions. I also have fairly high standards as to what I would accept as God, therefore a petty, vengeful, deathdealing force would not be considered as God by me even if the proofs about its existence were solid. Good luck in getting a reasonable answer. dzimmerm

  5. It looks like they proved the tablet a very carefull forgery. Hard to say what is really true. Luckly I do not care if it is true or not. The latest article I found says the tablet is really old but the inscription is recent and made to look old. Apparently the forger managed to take the remains of the stone caused by the inscription process and make a paste of it and coat the inscribed letters to make them look like they had a layer of aged stone the same age as the rest of the tablet. Humans are clever little monkies now, aren't they? dzimmerm

  7. It would seem the authorities in geology say the stone table is the correct age. The language authorities say the inscription is a forgery. I find it funny that someone could make an inscription in modern times that the geologists could not figure out was recent. This case seems to have been decided on opinion rather than scientific evidence. http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_joash.htm is a link to one of the more recent stories with information from july of 2003. dzimmerm

  11. I see nothing wrong with you doing what you have to do to get by. I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years. I am what some have called an ovo lacto vegetarian. I eat plants and dairy products and I eat cooked chicken eggs. My only concern for you is that by killing cattle you might get desensatized to the act of killing. This could make it easier for you to kill a human. I do not care about the cattle, I care about the effect of killing cattle has on a human. It is difficult in the USA to try and be animal product free. There is lard and tallow used in some foods and there is leather used in all kinds of clothing and equipment. I have tryed to go to cloth belts and man made materials for shoes. Many folks make their living by the slaughter of cattle and it would not be good for everyone to just suddenly stop and not use the products. I doubt that will happen though. I do find it disturbing that someone seeking spirtual enlightenment would think they are better than someone else due to a few choices in their lives. It might take a person a lifetime to change or they may never change. That does not make them a bad person nor you a better person for being different. Acceptance, compassion, understanding. Repeat as needed, /images/graemlins/smile.gif. dzimmerm

  13. Well, I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years. I am now 46. I stopped eating meat due to ethics. My ethics state that I should not eat anything that I am not willing to personally kill myself. I am willing to personally kill plants, and I am willing to milk an animal and steal from a fowl. I am not willing to kill fish, kill chickens, kill cows, kill pigs, kill sheep, kill goats, etc. My purpose is that by killing animals, which in some ways resemble people, you are making it easier to kill people. I want it to be as difficult as possible to kill people, because I and everyone I know as friends are people. Well, I do have some cats that are friends. The not eating of meat is for my health and the protection of the sacredness of the life of humans. It is not for the benefit of the animals. My philosophy also makes it possible for me to eat meat to survive as long as I kill the animal. I do worry I may someday have to kill another human in self defense and I am not sure I would be allowed to eat the failed attacker, hehehe. (That last bit was a joke son, a joke, ok?) dzimmerm

  15. To learn and to love. Or more precisely, to learn how to express love more completely as well as gaining and internalizing knowledge about the world that you are part of. dzimmerm
