Bhaktivinoda went as far as to suggest that in Ramayana the Vanaras were actually just the dark skinned people of South India. He was trying to reconcile the shastras with a rational and scientific world view.

In that case Dinosaurs are light-skinned people from Pakistain.:smash:

I did do a google, and most people seem to think the same. Never heard of this before. Maybe because Vanars were led my Hanuman.

If he did not have a problem with such rationalizalization, why should you worry about lack of human fossils in the age of dinosaurs?

well. Okay lets look at it another way, what is the date at which this particular planet was created by Brahma?

  2.

    But what does it matter?

yeah it doesn't matter. I am sorry, forgive me.

This is the crunch question for the "modern" devotee:

Will you still have any faith in God if you were given incontrovertible proof that the current scientific view of history is correct, and the Puranic view isn't?

Well, there should be some information on why no human bones are found that are dated back to when dinosaurs were here.

  3.

Because dinosaurs lived on the planet earlier than humans? And it should be 65 million years ago - not 25 million.

And what does paleontological evidence of dinosaurs -or lack thereof - have anything to do with God?

    Cheers

WHat are you ross from friends? :smash:

Nah, but amazing how no human remains older then dinos or closer to the years they were found etc, were found. Maybe nothing to do with God, but why 'No human remains found dating 25 million years or something'?

Or maybe the carbon dating on the dinos is wrong? Or the bones of animals maybe age differently to humans.

    Srila Narayana Maharaja:

That is true, years ago I prayed to Lakmi, and I got a job. But now I don't have any money. So yeah, its true what Maharaja says. Lakmgoes away very quickly. I feel this is true. I feel Maharaja is talking about temporary benefits. The thing is, I need a Job (to pay bills, help my parents), and if Lakmi gives me this temporary benefit then I still think there is nothing wrong with it. (i am not a pure devotee neither do I have a lot of time, I KNOW Krishna can give me a Job and Money, but He doesn't for some reason. If I prayed to Lakmi and did the vrat I would get a job within few weeks. Is that a temp benefit on MY PART (HELL YES), is it bad? (YES). Will I still do it despite what Narayana Maharaja says (who I went to see before in Delhi), YES. Thats life...

Ps Can you give me the direct link to the above quotation please.

    Hi ,

maybe it is the tough economic times or maybe it is my own fearfulness or maybe my financial status right about now, but I am in a deep ditch, which I wasn't when I wasn't atheist lets say. I was happy atleast, now all I have is depression and anxiety. Fear has taken complete hold of me, everyday as I see myself go into more and more debt, all I can find comfort in is this book bhagavad gita, and prabhupada's words, ironically. The same words that I actually forbid myself from reading, those same ideas of surrender, which were once given up by me, I made my self believe that there is no God, then how can these words give me this type of comfort, I am still convinced that if there is God, he would be more visible. Anyway, atheism truly makes one miserable, maybe there is a better way.

You may not remember me, but anyway sorry for any offense I had created earlier as an atheistic moron.

O best among the Bharatas, four kinds of pious men begin to render devotional service unto Me -- the distressed, the desirer of wealth, the inquisitive, and he who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute.

    =====

Okay my personal view is I also need money so my so-called surrender or whatever is not really, according to above verse, but also the it is in a way since the verse above says ... 'four kinds of pious men begin to render devotional service unto Me' so its like a 'double jeporday' :)

This is where we disagree. I am my body just like Krishna. I am sat cit ananda vigraha always have been and always will be.

I am not a material body even though I most often think I am. That is my confusion, misidentification, ahankara or fall.

Interesting. God is everywhere (Gods Body), even though He has body.

  8. yeah thx beggar. Those jobs may look easy to do. Opening a shop is not free, and driving a riksha around (buy the rikhsa first), its like a car, requires maintainance, driving around in the sun all day. It take a man to do these kinds of Jobs, maybe you should try them. Its not something to mock.
