  2. This really depends on the version of Shaivism you're talking about. It may be true in some sects or geographic locations, but to say it is widespread through all of Saivism is an error. I've been to a lot of temples and never ever have I smelled it.
  3. Yes, AJ, Hinduism accepts converts. There have been many throughout the centuries. I would recommend the book "How to Become a Hindu" if you're serious. From your words, it seems you're already a Hindu, but would like to acknowledge it.
