  1. Shri Shri Guru gauranga Jayatah !!! Some of the most excellent instructions of Shrimad Bhagavatam are those of Srila Kapila Muni Shrimad Bhagavatam 3.28.1: Lord Kapila said: My dear mother, O daughter of the King, now I shall explain to you the system of yoga, the object of which is to control the mind. By practicing this system one can become joyful and progressively realise the Absolute Truth.
  2. Shri Shri Guru Gauranga Jayatah !!! Verse 1-2-10: Life’s desires should never be directed toward sense gratification. One should desire only a healthy life, or self-preservation, since a human being is meant for inquiry about the Absolute Truth. Nothing else should be the goal of one’s works.
  3. Shri Shri Guru Gauranga Jayatah !!! From the Chapter 10 of the Bhagvad Gita: Verse 10: To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me. Verse 11: Out of compassion for them, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shinning lamp of devotional knowledge the darkness born of ignorance. Please search in your heart sincerely. The most merciful Lordships Shri Shri Radha Govinda will reveal the "Original Gita" and much much more... Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
  4. Shri Shri Guru Gauranga Jayatah !!! 4. Before reciting this Çrémad-Bhägavatam, which is the very means of conquest, one should offer respectful obeisances unto the Personality of Godhead, Näräyaëa, unto Nara-näräyaëa Åñi, the supermost human being, unto mother Sarasvaté, the goddess of learning, and unto Çréla Vyäsadeva, the author. 5. O sages, I have been justly questioned by you. Your questions are worthy because they relate to Lord Kåñëa and so are of relevance to the world’s welfare. Only questions of this sort are capable of completely satisfying the self. 6. The supreme occupation [dharma] for all humanity is that by which men can attain to loving devotional service unto the transcendent Lord. Such devotional service must be unmotivated and uninterrupted to completely satisfy the self.
  5. Shri Shri Guru Gaurangau Jayatah !!! How does one get entangled in the material world? Verse 62 / Chapter 2 While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment lust develops, and from lust anger arises. Verse 63 / Chapter 2 From anger, delusion arises, and from delusion bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost, one falls down again into the material world Verse 37 / Chapter 3 The Blessed Lord said: it is lust only, Arjun, which is born of contact with the material modes of passion and later transformed into wrath, and which is the all-devouring, sinful enemy of this world. Verse 38 / Chapter 3 As fire is covered with smoke, as a mirror is covered by dust, or as the embryo is covered by the womb, similarly, the living entity is covered by different degrees of this lust. Verse 39 / Chapter 3 Thus, a man’s pure consciousness is covered by his eternal enemy in the form of lust, which is never satisfied and which burns like fire. Verse 40 / Chapter 3 The senses, the mind and the intelligence are the sitting places of this lust, which veils the real knowledge of the living entity and bewilders him.
  6. Shri Shri Guru Gaurangau Jayatah !!! "The Holy Names are purely transcendental, eternal, unchanging, full of infinite transcendental Rasa (mellow), bestower of all good blessings and identical with the forms, qualities, pastimes and associates of Them who are addressed i.e. Shri Shri Radha Gopinath. The Transcendental Names cannot be served by material senses. By their own mercy they awaken in the heart of a humble faithful devotee performing loving devotional service of Shri Hari Gurudeva and Vaishnavas and Their Holy Names". Shrila Rupa Goswami in Shri Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu
  7. Shri Shri Guru Gaurangau Jayatah !!! Chatuh Shloka Gita: The Four Key Verses Of Srimad Bhagvad Gita, as highlighted by Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur Chapter 10: Verses 8, 9, 10 & 11 Verse 8: I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who know this perfectly engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts Verse 9: The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are surrendered to Me, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss enlightening one another and conversing about Me. Verse 10: To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me. Verse 11: Out of compassion for them, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shinning lamp of devotional knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.
  8. Shri Shri Guru Gaurangau Jayatah !!! "I am the eternal servant of Shri Hari Gurudeva and Vaishnavas, and Their Holy Names are my most dear companion and master. By nature I am not a brahman (priest), kshatriya (administrator and soldier), vaishya (merchant, farmer or professional) or a shudra (servant of all the earlier class of men) or even a bhramcharin (celibate student), grihastha (householder), vanprastha (one who has completed his family duties) or a sanyasin (renunciant). I am the eternal servant of the servant of the servant of Shri Shri Radha Gopinath and Shri Krishna Chaitanya Prabhu Nityananda Shri Advaita Gadadhara Shrivasadi Gaura Bhakta Vrinda and my only desire is Their Eternal Loving Devotional Service" Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita
  9. Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur's favorite prayer translated in English... Shri Shri Guru Gaurangau Jayatah !!! A PURE DEVOTEES PRAYER O Lord! it is my humble request, unto Your Lotus Feet. I don’t want bodily comfort, Knowledge, glory, wealth and followers. I don’t want a place in the heaven, nor spiritual liberation. I don’t pray to you for, personal benefit or social position. Due to merits and demerits of my acts, I may take any birth. Birth after birth tirelessly, I should sing Your glories. My request unto Your Lotus Feet is that, causless devotion rise in my heart. The attachment that I have for the material world, similar attachment I have for You. Comfort or discomfort I should remain same, and improve by the mercy of Your Holy Name. May I be beast or bird in heaven or hell, Your devotion may prosper in Bhaktivinode’s heart. Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur
  10. Shri Shri Guru Gauranga Jayatah !!! Uddhava Gita continued 11-7-41&42: Although a self-realized soul may live in various material bodies while in this world, experiencing their various qualities and functions, he is never entangled, just as the wind which carries various aromas does not actually mix with them. A thoughtful sage, even while living within a material body, should understand himself to be pure spirit soul. Similarly, one should see that the spirit soul enters within all forms of life, both moving and non-moving. The sage should further observe that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, as the Supersoul, is simultaneously present within all things. Ito Narsinha (Krishna) parto Narsinha, yato yato yami tato Narsinha; Bahir Narsinha hridaye Narsinha, Narsinham adim sharanam prapade Shrila Prabhupada gave a lot of emphasis on this verse for a person young in devotional service. The Supersoul can be understood by comparing them to the nature of the sky: although the sky extends everywhere and everything rests within the sky, the sky does not mix with anything, nor can it be divided by anything.
  11. Shri Shri Guru Gauranga Jayatah !!! Verse 11-7-40: Even a devotee is surrounded by innumerable material objects, which possess good and bad qualities. However, one who has transcended material good and evil should not become entangled even when in contact with the material objects; rather, he should act like the wind. Also a pure devotee knows that Lord Krishna is everywhere – Ito Narsinha (Krishna) parto Narsinha, yato yato yami tato Narsinha; Bahir Narsinha hridaye Narsinha, Narsinham adim sharanam prapade Therefore there is no such thing as “Material” for a truly enlightened devotee. Such a devotee sees everything in relation to the devotional service of Shri Shri Radha Govinda.
  12. Shri Shri Guru Gauranga Jayatah !!! Uddhava Gita continued... (Avadhuta Gita) 11th Canto, Chapter 7, Verses 36-39 Please listen, O son of Maharaja Yayati, O tiger among men, as I explain to you what I have learned from each of these gurus. A sober person, even when harassed by other living beings, should understand that his aggressors are acting helplessly under the control of God, and thus he should never be distracted from progress on his own path. This rule I have learned from the earth. A saintly person should learn from the mountain to devote all his efforts to the service of others and to make the welfare of others the sole reason for his existence. Similarly, as the disciple of the tree, he should learn to dedicate himself to others. A learned sage should take his satisfaction in the simple maintenance of his existence and should not seek satisfaction through gratifying the material senses. In other words, one should care for the material body in such a way that one’s higher knowledge is not destroyed and so that one’s speech and mind are not deviated from self-realization.
  13. O King, I have taken shelter of twenty-four gurus, who are the following: the earth, air, sky, water, fire, moon, sun, pigeon and python; the sea, moth, honeybee, elephant and honey thief; the deer, the fish, the prostitute Pingala, the kurara bird and the child; and the young girl, arrow maker, serpent, spider and wasp. My dear King, by studying their activities I have learned the science of the self.
