    We are a miniscule 'refraction' ourselves.

    4] You are a Lead Professor of the Physics Department of a University --presently conducting Federal Goverment Funded Research for the Military --regarding Deep Space Exploration.

    5] You are an experienced Astronout who neglected to do your job while in space (ie: meter readings and record keeping) --so as to stare out the portal at the darkness[?] to keep a private log of YOUR acute observations.

    As you know, I actually agree with you. Stars don’t emit light. That is, in reality separate stars don’t exist and individual photons (light) do not exist. These are just our (discontinuous) conscious perception of (continuous) reality (or God). However, in terms of the physical models we have that accurately describe some observed regularities in material nature, I would say that stars emit their own light. That is, stars are like the sun. One day it may even be feasible to send a robotic probe to Proxima Centauri (the second nearest star at a distance of 4.2 light-years from Earth) to prove it.

     

    Space is black, because the number of stars in the universe is finite (about 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) and the universe itself is finite, but very, very large (about 156 billion light-years in diameter). Furthermore, there are probably many more black holes in the universe than there are stars. And even light can’t escape from a black hole. Hence, space is predominantly black. Nevertheless, astronauts have to meticulously protect themselves from the deadly levels of radiation outside the Earth’s atmosphere..

    Well, actually it is a picture made by the Hubble space telescope (http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/The-Hubble-Space-Telescopes-Finest-Photos.html)

     

    The twinkling effect results from the refraction of light by the optical lenses of the telescope. You get the same effect when you make a picture of a very bright light, with your ordinary (digital) camera.

    If the stars are self-luminus like the Sun --then why is Space darkened?

     

    Football stadiums can be alit as if the Sky was on fire . . . but "Billions & Billions" of Suns emitting light into the void of Space --traveling at the speed of light [299,792,458 metres per second. //or// 186,282 miles per second].

     

    Yet the third world citizen needs a candle while walking under a sky filled with Suns.

     

    Yeah, Science will make a better future for humanity ... at least till your dead and gone and your grandchildren can play video games while drinking highfructose corn syrups.

    Stars don’t illuminate the Earth at night, because they are too far away and because the Earth’s atmosphere absorbs most starlight. In fact, without the atmosphere, stars would indeed illuminate the Earth (at 'moonless' nights). However, without an atmosphere, there wouldn't be any life on Earth to appreciate it.. :)

    You are not God, you are an integral part of God. Huh..? God is you..

     

    It’s like grass is green, but green is not grass; or people are living, but living is not people; or A is the son of B, but B is not the son of A. Such propositions are called asymmetrical. Likewise, the proposition 'God is me', is not equivalent to 'I am God'.

     

    Now, the proposition 'God is everything', is symmetrical, because the reverse proposition 'everything is God', is also true. However, you are not everything, therefore you are not God. But God logically remains you, because God is everything..

     

    Next time, can you be a bit more specific please about what you do not understand? :)

    Jeevatma is NOT GOD.

     

    If you say it is,then you have to reconcile the vedic statements that there are THREE SEPERATE ETERNAL tattvas : The controller(Brahm),the enjoyer(jeevatma) and the enjoyed(maya) with the nonsense theory that 'Jeeva is brahm.'

     

    Tulsidasa states,"Kahat kathin smujhat kathin sadhan kathin vivek."

    To even explain the Nirguna brahm is tough,it is much more tough to understand it and toughest is to practise jnana marga.

     

    Sri Kripaluji Maharaja states,"All these Advaita vadis...they talk ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.Sab bakwaas karte hai.Sab bakwaas."

     

    He further challenges,"There are FOUR conditions before even gaining,talking,thinking about Nirguna Brahm : Shanto dant uparatas titiskhu. Sham-Shant means control over the mind.How many people in 9 billion have control over their mind ??"

     

    There are many people who are trying to explain that everything is brahm.this that...

    All nonsense.You people are just like the advaita vadis who just go on talking nonsense,even when they are not qualified.

    This is the crteria set by shankaracharya himself.

     

    So anyone who thinks he can expound on Nirguna brahm is a complete fool.

    Even Brahm is not the name in the nirguna sect.It doesn't even have a name.So how can you explain ??? ALL nonsense.

    In reality, there are 3 space dimensions and 1 time dimension, which amounts to a total of 4 continuous dimensions. The material world is only a fraction of reality, and as such, it has a fractional (or fractal) dimensionality of, for example, 3.5 or 3.1.. In our material world, it's actually the time dimension that is incomplete (or fractional or discontinuous); we are only conscious 'every now and then'. Hence, we consciously perceive separate (or different) objects (or forms), and atoms (or material units or energy quanta). In reality, however, everything is simply One single continuous system (or whole or God).. :)

    I think BG 8.9 is quite clear about this. God is "smaller than the smallest". Yet, He maintains (pervades) everything. So, God is the basis of everything, which includes atoms, protons, quarks, photons.. Thus, God Himself is the Quantum Domain. However, the quantum manifestation of God in this world (known in science as Quantum Mechanics) is only a tiny discontinuous fraction of the total continuous Quantum Domain.. :)

     

     

    Bhagavad-gita As It Is 8.9

     

    kavim puranam anusasitaram

    anor aniyamsam anusmared yah

    sarvasya dhataram acintya-rupam

    aditya-varnam tamasah parastat

     

    SYNONYMS

     

    kavim -- the one who knows everything; puranam -- the oldest; anusasitaram -- the controller; anoh -- than the atom; aniyamsam -- smaller; anusmaret -- always thinks of; yah -- one who; sarvasya -- of everything; dhataram -- the maintainer; acintya -- inconceivable; rupam -- whose form; aditya-varnam -- luminous like the sun; tamasah -- to darkness; parastat -- transcendental.

     

    TRANSLATION

     

    One should meditate upon the Supreme Person as the one who knows everything, as He who is the oldest, who is the controller, who is smaller than the smallest, who is the maintainer of everything, who is beyond all material conception, who is inconceivable, and who is always a person. He is luminous like the sun, and He is transcendental, beyond this material nature.

     

    PURPORT

     

    The process of thinking of the Supreme is mentioned in this verse. The foremost point is that He is not impersonal or void. One cannot meditate on something impersonal or void. That is very difficult. The process of thinking of Krishna, however, is very easy and is factually stated herein. First of all, the Lord is purusha, a person -- we think of the person Rama and the person Krishna. And whether one thinks of Rama or of Krishna, what He is like is described in this verse of Bhagavad-gita. The Lord is kavi; that is, He knows past, present and future and therefore knows everything. He is the oldest personality because He is the origin of everything; everything is born out of Him. He is also the supreme controller of the universe, and He is the maintainer and instructor of humanity. He is smaller than the smallest. The living entity is one ten-thousandth part of the tip of a hair, but the Lord is so inconceivably small that He enters into the heart of this particle. Therefore He is called smaller than the smallest. As the Supreme, He can enter into the atom and into the heart of the smallest and control him as the Supersoul. Although so small, He is still all-pervading and is maintaining everything. By Him all these planetary systems are sustained. We often wonder how these big planets are floating in the air. It is stated here that the Supreme Lord, by His inconceivable energy, is sustaining all these big planets and systems of galaxies. The word acintya ("inconceivable") is very significant in this connection. God's energy is beyond our conception, beyond our thinking jurisdiction, and is therefore called inconceivable (acintya). Who can argue this point? He pervades this material world and yet is beyond it. We cannot comprehend even this material world, which is insignificant compared to the spiritual world -- so how can we comprehend what is beyond? Acintya means that which is beyond this material world, that which our argument, logic and philosophical speculation cannot touch, that which is inconceivable. Therefore intelligent persons, avoiding useless argument and speculation, should accept what is stated in scriptures like the Vedas, Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam and follow the principles they set down. This will lead one to understanding.

    Interestingly, this sounds akin to the war cry, "Death to the Infidels!!!"

    Who is right? And on what basis?

     

    When it comes down to it, we can all go around pointing our fingers at the other people who are infidels. Christians (Catholics, Protestants...), Jews (Reform, Orthodox...), Muslims (Shiites, Sunnis...), Hindus (Shaktis, Shaivites, Vaishnavas...), etc...

    In our material world, ultimately, only science can determine what is real and, consequently, who's ideology is real, and who is façade or fake, or even a religious terrorist..

    Jeffster and I just had a slightly 'off-topic' discussion about the relevance of science (physics) in the context of general spirituality and religion. We agreed that science actually can be a good thing, if it confirms - or even advances - our spiritual understanding of reality as it is. In fact, science is all about validating ideas.. :)

[Every other thing in creation is distinct and seperated from Him yet they are without animation & purpose without seeking out their origin in the form of Godhead Krishna and His own Pastimes]..

    Tim an John are separate on the physical level, but as their consciousness expandes there is more overlaping and they are more the same, the individual ego becomes universal one.There is a video on youtube

    Oneness means that everything is one. :) In a physical system, 'one' would be a formless singular point in an otherwise empty space. The point 'contains' everything that exists, and as such, it is the basis of everything.

     

    How can that be? Well, this point or singularity has infinite qualities, such as infinite speed, infinitesimal size and complete consciousness of its infinitely diverse (complex nonlinear or chaotic) trajectory in space. This total singular consciousness is reality (Brahman).

     

    Somehow, human consciousness is a mere fraction of total consciousness. We are only conscious of reality every now and then (Maya). As such, we are one with God, but different from God. And, consequently, we perceive a fragmented and temporal (material) world, in which separate temporary objects appear to exist.

     

    False ego (Ahankara) is based on the false idea that all the separate objects in our causal material world comprise all of reality; and that we ourselves are distinctly individual - and autonomously acting material beings..
