  5. Haribol, It's said that lord's pastime is eternal . Is there any description that where all Lords pass time takes place. I understood that Lords pastimes take place only in earthly planets where Jivas get the karma for their deeds. So are there more earthly planets. YS, dev
  6. Color (varna) So what are the “colors” of the four castes? There may be more than one answer to this, however in the dharma (or grihya) sutras, ancient texts dealing with the gurukula, the place where Hindus were originally educated, we find colors assigned to the clothing of the four castes. (Notice that all four castes were going to attend the school, not just some “higher” castes.) White was the color of shudras; yellow the color or vaishyas; red the color of kshatriyas, and orange the color of brahmins. White is actually not a color, but all colors combined. This would be appropriate for shudras, since they were involved in the duties of all the castes. It also expresses their social fluidity, for originally the shudras were the most frequently transferred into other castes. Yellow is the auric color of intelligence and initiative–an essential trait for agriculturalists, artisans, merchants, and those that comprise the vaishya caste. Red is the color of dynamic power, discipline and assertiveness, so it naturally fits the kshatriya castes members. Orange (gerua) is a combination of yellow and red, for brahmins must have the mental acumen and vigorous personal energies of the vaishyas and kshatriyas combined with a dominant spiritual consciousness. Fire is the essence of the original sacred rites of India, so its orange color represents spiritual consciousness and its transmuting powers. It is interesting that all four colors are to be found in levels of the Indian monastic life. The standard color of full sannyas is appropriately orange, for it is the color of the crematory fire in which the earthly body is consumed, and the sannyasi’s aim is to reduce all that is earthly within himself by means of the fire of spiritual realization.
  7. Priest sacked for dressing up Krishna in denims <TABLE borderColor=#ffffff height=102 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width=680 align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top noWrap align=left width=550 height=244> <TABLE height=742 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width=550 align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top height=58> Lucknow, Sep 19 (IANS) The head priest of Banke Bihari Mandir, one of India's oldest temples, has been sacked for dressing up the idol of Krishna in a pair of denim and T-shirt. Anand Kishore Goswami, the priest in Vrindavan, Mathura, gave a modern look to Krishna and even replaced his 'bansuri' (flute) with a cellphone. Goswami's term was cut short Tuesday following the order of a local court. The temple is traditionally run by members of the Goswami family, who take turns to head it. Following Goswami's sack routine prayers were disrupted at the temple. Goswami's dressing up the idol Saturday for a few minutes was caught on camera. And, as the TV channels flashed the image there was furore in Vrindavan. But Goswami saw nothing wrong in his act. "Who can deny that Lord Krishna has different forms; He is known for his 'leelas'; I don't think there was anything wrong in dressing him up in a denim outfit," the middle-aged Goswami was reported to have initially told the media in Vrindavan. However, when he realised that he would not be able to get away with the prank that eventually cost him his job, he readily conceded and tendered an apology. But evidently, that was rather late in the day for him. Hindu organisations as well as political parties accused him of "defiling" the image of Lord Krishna. Shopkeepers kept their shutters down not only in Vrindavan and Mathura, but also in Varanasi. Saffron clad priests, supported by Bharatiya Janata Party activists set afire to pairs of jeans. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
  8. Priests at the Bankey Bihari temple in Vrindavan, near here, dressed up the main deity in modern attire, sparking massive protests. Priests at the temple dedicated to Hindu god Krishna, at the request of some fun-loving devotees, gave the deity Thursday a "modern look" complete with jeans and a shirt and wielding a mobile phone. Activists of groups like Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) termed the move blasphemy and burnt effigies of the priests. They demanded that "those who defiled the sanctity of the temple" be punished. Sanskrit scholars like Chandan Lal Parasher and Nirmal Giri of the Kailash temple here criticised the "wanton callousness" of the Vrindavan priests. The Rashtriya Lok Dal and Brahmin Sabha also organized similar protests. Some have called for the sacking of the priests.

  10. According to local media reports in Jharkhand capital, Jaitiya Murmu in Kathasakar village in Giridih district, 270 km from Ranchi, believes that his wife Dhani has been reincarnated in the form of a pangolin, an animal that eats ants. His children love it as their mother and the pangolin is being reared with great love and respect and fed with ants. Dhani died in June 2000 and promised on her deathbed that she would soon return to the family in another form, Jaitiya claimed. A few weeks after her death, the pangolin, hardly found in the district, entered the house, went to Dhani's room and lay down on her bed. "We love the mammal as our mother. It is part of our family," said Parmeshwar, her eldest son. "Someone from Orissa wanted to take it for a hefty price. But can we sell our mother?" he asked. In a similar claim made by Nilima Sarkar, a three-year old girl, in Orissa has told her father Bhaba Ranjan Sarkar and mother Sumitra in MV 75 village in Malkangiri district, 620 km from Bhubaneswar, that she was born in the nearby village of MV 64 and had drowned accidentally 20 years ago when she was two-and-a-half. She claims to have been the daughter of Kokan and Rani Sil in her earlier birth, reported the state's only 24x7 Oriya news portal Odisha.com. Her parents even went and verified the story. "She told us several times that she wants to meet the parents from her previous birth as they were missing her a lot and had been depressed since her death," said Nilima's father Bhaba. "We searched if the village and the people revealed by our daughter exist or not. We found it was true," Bhaba was quoted as saying by the portal. "To confirm further, we went to MV 64 village and were surprised when we found the Sil couple who admitted that they had a daughter named Mamata who drowned in the village well." The Sils, who now have a boy and a girl, said they were yet to get over the trauma of losing their daughter so tragically. Nilima also reportedly took her parents to the well to show where she had died, said the portal, carrying photographs of the child and her parents. K.C. Mohapatra, a medicine specialist at the Malkangiri district hospital, said he had never come across any such incident and does not believe it. "Medical science does not approve rebirth," he said. http://www.bihartimes.com/news06/marchall/11apr11.html
  11. Human life can not be there with 0% violence . So recommendation is do minimum violence to live and cultivate god consciousness . After all we kill many small creatures on putting a foot on floor which we can not even see. So offer your food which you have cooked with love and devotion to lord then eat as prasadam to reduce the Karma of killing those vegetable. And Lord says in 9th chapter in Gita, If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it. (9.26) Here Lord does not ask for meat or fish or egg. Again if you are in such a situation where you do not get any vegetable , may be you can eat meat, fish to save your life ,but that situation remains exceptional.
  12. Hare Krishna Prabhu and matajis, Has any body read brihad bhagwatam?. Does it described something about kinds of spiritual body in golok? I imagine that there will be human spiritual body as well as animals, grass trees and everything what we see in this Mrtya lok. Because first it will be for Krishna's pleasure and somewhere, it is said that Mrtyalok is also a reflection of GOLOK . Now my question is when one gets spiritual body will it be in human form or an animal or a tree form in GOLOK. And how it is decided which devotee will get what. I don't know if these things are described some where . Any opinions?? Hari Bol. DEV

Hare Krishna , In this forum there are many times it is said that Bible has been changed a lot , and there are controversies. Can any body tell me where ?. I would like to get an answer who has faith in Bible. Hari Bol.
  15. Hare krishna, How I understand karma is whatever we do is karma, It can be Sakam karma ( fruitful activity ) or it can be Niskam like serving Krishna by offering him food etc. Similarly if anything happens to me that is also because of my Karma in this life or previous lives. After all we are suffering because we did many sakam karma in our life after life. So if anything happens to me that is because I invited those action with my sakam karma in previous life. So my understanding is if I get killed in any of such bombing, I invited it with my Karma. If I am bhkta , I may think that this is less punishment because of HIM and I should have suffer more with more severe death due to my Karma. Hari Bol.
  16. Hare Krishna , Monday's deadly bombings in Mumbai which killed at least 44 people and injured more than 150 others. I want to understand this in karma point of view. Those who got killed, was their life expectation was that much in this life according to their karma and those people would have any way got killed by some how on that particular moment. ? If yes then the person who committed this is just a player of god's wish , like arjuna in the battle field . Though the motive was Adharma. Hari Bol
  17. Hare Krishna /salam walikum , That was nice. You are praising Allha or Krishna . It is same . You can find similar science related things in Bible also . There is also Jehovah ( Father , Krishna's) word, so everything is same. The difference is in interpretation. The same Qoran can be used by terrorist minded people and same can be used to make one devotee . In Bagwat Gita , one can take the interpretation that Krishna want us to fight like Arjuna , by taking our modern Bow and Arrow( AK47 ) . So it is up to you how you interpret the teaching of Allaha. So best is read the interpretation made by Devotees, Like for Gita , it is Srila prabhupaad's Gita . Hari Bol.
  18. Hare krishna prabhu, I am looking for examples . I can show you many sites for reincarnation claims as human being in previous life. But If any body knows about any claim that one was in non human body. Serious reply please. Hari Bol.
  19. Hare krishna prabhu , We have heard about many cases of reincarnation , where one person remembers his previous life as human . But is there any cases where one remembers that some one had non human body in his previously life. Hari BOL
  20. Hare Krishna prabhu ji , What Vegetarian food is restricted on Ekadasi day. I know about rice, wheat and other grains like pulses ( daal etc ). What about Ground nuts and spices . Can those be used on Ekadasi day . Hari bol
  21. Hare krishna prabhu, I read some where that Goswamis found out all the places of Krishna's past time in Vrindavan . But What was the condition before Goswamis? Many poets and devotees like Surdaas , Meera have described Lord's pastime and sang devotional song . I don't find any other devotees who appeared before goswamis and there Krishna Bhajan are available today also. Can any body name some 8th century - 9 th century person who has written something related to krishna . Was Krishna not known before Goswamis in After Christ years. Hari BOL

  23. hare krishna prabhus, I have archa vigraha of Radha krishna and Gaur nitai. When I prepare food , whom should I offer. Or we need separte plate for all of them , or just serving krishna is enough. Hari bol
  24. Hare krishna , Why it is not possible . Both were present during Treta Yug and Dwaper Yug . That means both should be alive till the end of Kali yug too. Why don't we get any claims from any claims from devotee of Kali yuga that they have met them. Hari Bol
