  1. Krishna is not a human, he wants you to think he is a human when he comes to our little planet, but he is not a human. He is the supreme "person" but the miracles that he does are impossible to be done by a human like you and me. can you play with a planet like its a ball in your hand? - No , why ? because you are so tiny and can't do that. But krishna did do that as Varaha, he held it on his nose. He can do alot of things which you , I or any soul cannot do. So, to think he is a human being would be preposterous, it is better for us to think that he is God.
  2. It is like that in Gallapalos, I saw a movie where at every six months there is an increase in one type of birds in Galapalos and decrease in another type and vice versa. It is true in Gallapalos , but to say that it is true everywhere is ridiculous. Also, they used to teach evolution theory in our high school, it was not mandatory to know it as the truth. Just like it is not mandatory to know John Dalton's first Atomic Model.
  3. It is taken from Gita, but is also in bhagavatham (I think), I am not entirely sure, but I read it on the KC website /images/graemlins/smile.gif Here is the source of my answer to your question: http://www.krishna.com/gita/main/topics/Jiva/index.htm Who am I? The face I see every morning in the mirror? The eyes that scrutinize it? The heartbeats within my chest? Or the thoughts that race through my brain while I am wondering about all this? According to the ancient Vedic scriptures, I am none of these things. I am an eternal soul -- a jiva -- stuck within a city of nine gates (two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, the mouth, rectum and genital). "When the upper point of a hair is divided into one hundred parts and again each of such parts is further divided into one hundred parts, each such part is the measurement of the dimension of the spirit soul." This amazing statement from the Svetasvatara Upanishad explains why scientists have not been able to see the soul through their microscopes. Atomic in size, the soul nonetheless is so powerful that it animates the entire body with consciousness. It is situated within the heart, and when it leaves the body, the red corpuscles that carry the oxygen from the lungs can no longer gather energy from the soul. As a result, the activity of the blood, generating fusion, ceases; the heart stops beating; and the entire body disintegrates. What happens to the soul then? "For the soul there is neither birth nor death at any time," the Bhagavad-gita explains. "He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain" (Bg. 2.20). "As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from childhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change" (Bg. 2.13). "As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones" (Bg. 2.22). "Whatever state of being . . ." What's the point? The atomic soul (jiva) is part and parcel of the supreme whole, equal to God in quality. Both are eternal, full of bliss and knowledge, but they are not quantitatively equal. Whether embodied or in its pure spiritual state, the jiva remains atomic in size, just as the sunshine molecules remain atomic particles of sunshine. The sunshine is simultaneously one with and different from the sun globe: it is one in quality in terms of heat and light, but not in quantity. Similarly, the jiva always remains a part of the supreme whole. Throughout the Vedas, the supreme whole is known as Krsna. Being the supreme energetic source of everything, Krsna has innumerable energies, which are categorized in three main divisions: internal, external, and marginal. The internal or superior energy manifests the spiritual variegatedness of the kingdom of God; the external or inferior energy manifests the cosmic creation; and the marginal energy comprises the countless particles of consciousness known as jivas. Just as the limbs of the body are meant to serve the whole body, the jivas are meant to serve the Supreme Being. But their infinitesimal size makes them prone to become influenced by the Lord's external energy. Under such influence, some jivas choose to misidentify themselves as independent enjoyers. In other words, they become God's competitors. Although it is an impossible dream, Krsna, "who has been fulfilling everyone's desire since time immemorial" (Isopanisad, 8), fulfills their desire by creating this world of matter. This material world is a perverted reflection of the spiritual world. Here the rebellious jivas are free to enact fantasies in one of 8,400,000 types of bodies created by the external, illusory energy. When the jivas enter the material energy, they are subjected to past, present and future. Under time's influence, and overpowered by fear, they suffer greatly. The only remedy is to resume service to the Lord. The jivas, however, cannot reach this conclusion by their own efforts, because they have forgotten their real identity as spirit souls. They consider themselves products of the material energy. As the supreme father of all jivas, Krsna is most kind and compassionate. Therefore He personally comes to speak Bhagavad-gétä, and He sends His confidential servants to act as spiritual masters. As the Supersoul within everyone's heart, He gives us a conscience, with which we can accept the Vedas and a spiritual master. Through the study of Bhagavad-gétä, the jiva comes to understand his true position as Krsna's servant. Then, under the direction of the expert spiritual master, he engages his senses, mind and intelligence in the service of Krsna. Such practice gradually raises us to the platform of transcendental loving service unto the Lord and culminates in the attainment of a blissful, intimate relationship with Krsna -- the perfection of life.
  4. It is said that the material sense pleasures are not going to give happiness, because you are taking care of the cage and not the bird inside it. Buddha proves it, he leaves all that material enjoyment that he had as a prince in search of true enjoyment. Even though he finishes his search half way, he says that the end of suffering is happiness... But all of our scriptures say that the cessation of suffering + true happiness is happiness. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

  6. I am guessing but the Doie could be relating to the word Doh(two in Hindi) . So, may be when He was saying "good to hear from you and them Doie." He may have meant "good to hear from you and them two (as in two other people)"

  11. karmendriyani samyamya ya aste manasa smaran indriyarthan vimudhatma mithyacarah sa ucyate One who restrains the senses of action but whose mind dwells on sense objects certainly deludes himself and is called a pretender. ------------------------ This above verse is saying that one who cannot control his senses is a liar. I do my best to control my senses, but fail to do so sometimes, is this an offense against krishna? Am I a cheater in this way? But the purport talks about a different kind of cheating : purport : There are many pretenders who refuse to work in Krsna consciousness but make a show of meditation, while actually dwelling within the mind upon sense enjoyment. Such pretenders may also speak on dry philosophy in order to bluff sophisticated followers, but according to this verse these are the greatest cheaters. For sense enjoyment one can act in any capacity of the social order, but if one follows the rules and regulations of his particular status, he can make gradual progress in purifying his existence. But he who makes a show of being a yogi while actually searching for the objects of sense gratification must be called the greatest cheater, even though he sometimes speaks of philosophy. His knowledge has no value, because the effects of such a sinful man's knowledge are taken away by the illusory energy of the Lord. Such a pretender's mind is always impure, and therefore his show of yogic meditation has no value whatsoever. So, are you a cheater if you cannot control your senses or are you a cheater if you just make off money by going into some woods to meditate? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

  13. Q: If God created this world and all creatured including human and also according to bhagvadgita human are part/parcell of himself then, why he punishes his own parts(human) when they turn demonic/bad ????... Answer: he is like fire, fire gives you light, but it can also burn you. In the same way, we can be in the spiritual world, where krishna gives us light. Or, we can chose to be the in the material world, where krishna's energy hurts us. We are not human/animal/any creatures, we are pure spirit souls which are like small sparks of the big fire called krishna. Q: If there is nothing else than Krishna(assuming due to his wish/desire this material world exists) in this world then a simple question arises....why Krishna created it?????? (ok...this is hardest question i guess...) Answer: He created it because we wanted to be like him, we did not want our place in the spiritual world, so we left him. Then he created this material world for us to live in and be like him, so that we slowly realize that we cannot be him and thus return back to him.

  15. Krishna's name is krishna himself. Chant and he will come to you. Do not stop now because that would not be intelligent. So, don't stop in the middle... finish the action and leave the result to krishna /images/graemlins/smile.gif oh yea and associate with devotees.

  19. "Results? There was absolutely no such thing as constipation. Every morning I'd suddenly have to use the toilet... I had to answer as if it were death's call (except that I always suvived)." thats because we really don't need that much water...we get enough water just by eating our food. But drinking water is good though, because it makes our kidneys do extra work each morning or can make our large intestine do less work pulling the water up, in case of no constipation . /images/graemlins/smile.gif Here is a good article on water consumption: webmd.com/content/article/14/1668_51096 -------------------------- April 16, 2001 -- You'd think we were suffering a nationwide drought, the way Americans go around clutching bottles of water these days. Forget American Express cards: The one thing many of us would never dream of leaving home without is our bottled water. By all rights, that should be good news. For years nutritionists have been warning us about the dangers of dehydration. Quaff at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water, the common wisdom goes, or you'll suffer the consequences: flagging energy, dry skin, lowered disease resistance, even constipation. And don't count the coffee, tea, or other caffeinated beverages you drink. Anything with caffeine, we've long been told, actually increases the risk of dehydration because it flushes water out of the system. Nor can you rely on thirst. By the time you're thirsty, you're well on your way to being dehydrated. There's only one problem with all these warnings. Almost none of them hold water. Here's why: Myth No. 1: We need to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day Researchers aren't sure where this familiar advice came from, but most agree there's very little solid scientific evidence to support it. The average adult loses only about 1 liter of water a day through sweating and other bodily processes -- the equivalent of only four 8-ounce glasses. We typically get that much water just in the foods we eat. Drinking an additional eight tall glasses of H20 is probably more fluid than most of us need. What about older people? For years, experts have warned that elderly people are especially prone to dehydration because they lose their sense of thirst. But even this may be overstated, according to a report in the July 2000 Journal of Gerontology. Robert Lindeman, MD, professor emeritus of medicine at the University of New Mexico, surveyed fluid consumption among 833 elderly volunteers. "People who drank less than four glasses of water a day were no more likely to show signs of dehydration than those who drank six or more," says Lindeman. "We found absolutely no difference between those who drank a little and those who drank a lot when we looked at all the standard markers for dehydration." Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't drink plenty of water a day. In fact, there's at least one reason to think it's a very good idea. In a 1999 study published in The New England Journal of Medicine, researchers found that the more liquids men consumed, the lower their risk of bladder cancer. Men who drank more than 10 8-ounce servings of fluids had a 49% lower incidence of the disease than those who drank only half that much. Myth No. 2: Caffeinated beverages make you dehydrated Not true. "For years, newspaper and magazine articles have repeated the notion that caffeine is dehydrating as if it's absolute fact," says University of Nebraska researcher Ann Grandjean, EdD. But in a study published in the October 2000 Journal of the American College of Nutrition, Grandjean and her colleagues at the Center for Human Nutrition showed that it's pure fantasy. The researchers looked at how different combinations of water, coffee, and caffeinated colas affected hydration levels in a group of 18 men between the ages of 24 and 39. During one phase of the experiment, the only fluid the volunteers consumed was water. During another, 75% of their intake was caffeinated. "Using almost every test ever devised to measure dehydration, we found no difference at all," says Grandjean. Myth No. 3: By the time you feel thirsty, you're already becoming dehydrated Maybe if you're an elite athlete running a marathon or a hotshot tennis player sweating in the noonday sun -- but not if you're going about your everyday activities. Thirst is, in fact, a very sensitive mechanism for regulating fluid intake, according to Barbara Rolls, PhD, a nutrition researcher at Pennsylvania State University. In a 1984 study in Physiology and Behavior, she and a group of colleagues at Oxford University followed a group of men as they went through their normal day. Left to their own devices, the volunteers became thirsty and drank long before their hydration levels showed any signs of dipping. Says Rolls, "If people have access to water or other fluid beverages, they seem to do a very good job of maintaining hydration levels." Myth No. 4: Drinking plenty of water can help you lose weight This idea makes sense, since water contains no calories. The trouble is, drinking a glass of water doesn't do anything to take the edge off hunger. "Water sneaks right past without triggering satiety signals, the cues that tell your body when you're full," says nutritionist Barbara Rolls, author of Volumetrics. Surprisingly, adding water to the food you eat, on the other hand, does seem to tame hunger. In a study reported in the October 1999 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Rolls found that women who eat a bowl of chicken soup feel fuller than those who eat chicken casserole served with a glass of water, even though both meals contain exactly the same ingredients. The soup eaters also tended to be less hungry at their next meal -- and to eat consume fewer calories -- than those who ate the casserole. There is one way that drinking water could help you lose weight, however: if you drink it in place of beverages that contain a lot of added sugar. Like water, sugary beverages fail to trigger a sense of fullness, which means you can consume a lot of calories without taking the edge off hunger.
  20. Guest : "Quite honestly, if all this is going against the wishes of God, I'll turn an atheist. " These hindu/muslims/christians etc make a big fuss about who you should marry and why... marriage is only a union between two souls in the material world. It is temporary and insignificant, still they destroy their lives explaining who one should marry etc. If there is a little tolerance, all goes well, but who has that nowadays. Anyway, thank you for telling me this, it just made me so happy.

G :"i criticized a pure devotee, without even almost knowing it, i never thought this day would ever come, this is a very good lesson for me, i had help from a pure devotee in Vraj, but i wanted to tell my story. this is what happens when you criticize." I think the pure devotee of the lord never gets criticism prabhu, if he feels criticized then that would mean that he is not a pure devotee. If you think about it , How can one criticize a soul who is protected under the shelter of Srimati Radharani and Krishna? So, I think you need to forget about everything and start working for krishna again. The offense is a perceived notion in the mind and is not real for one engaged in his duty. You just need some encouragement to chant /images/graemlins/wink.gif Think of how happy krishna will be, dancing on your tongue like that or think how happy radha will be, seeing you ready to serve krishna. Also, you are better than me , I get exhausted after 5 to 6 rounds, atleast you have chanted all 16 rounds for 2 years. I can't do that, Yet. ( oh yea, if he is a pure devotee and was mad at you for some reason, I think he will forgive you right away ... considering he is a pure devotee) /images/graemlins/grin.gif

  23. Go get some knowledge before you try to bash people who live in India. I agree that the poverty in India is horrible. The information that you get here is delusional and biased western propaganda.
  24. Yes, I know what you mean, I knew one couple were are in the same situation as you are in right now, but when she tried to force him(on a meat eating and alcohol issue) it just turned ugly. I think it is better to just practice KC yourself and pray in your heart that Radha showers her mercy on your husband /images/graemlins/smile.gif I am sure she will . So, it is wise to encourage the kids in the KC philosophy but only if they show interest. I think devotion is only dependent on the mercy of Radha krishna, it is better to leave it to them...
